This Night

Chapter 187

Author's Note: We're getting close to reuniting. I am still trying to decide something with the claimers. Whatever brain decides, I may be skipping the part where Daryl and Beth (and now Axel) find the mortuary and just go to where the Claimers come in. I'm still arguing with how it's going to play out. But dang it that means my babies are soon to be reunited! Go Jicks! Though I only have one half (the 2nd half) of Season 5 on DVR, so the first part people may be saying different things or the wrong thing-but you'll all forgive me because I really like my kid and didn't want to kill him for deleting it!

OMG! Have you all seen the preview of season 6? Of course I'm going, hmm what's Jewel's reaction? Merle is right over there. Yeah, I am hopeless! Please review.

Tara, Glenn and Mitch's POV:

Mitch glanced back at Eugene who was talking Tara's ear off. "Does he ever shut up?" he asked.

"You've got a mouth on you, you know that kid?" Abraham said from the back.

"Abraham, lay off," Rosita told him.

"That's the kind of kid who would have been a bully in school, in detention a lot," Eugene said.

"That kid is right here," Mitch said as he glanced back. "So, let me get this straight Poindexter, you think I would have been this way if the world didn't change? No, I was probably like you when you were a kid. The nerdy one who would be ahead in his work, sat quietly. They were talking about letting me skip a couple grades, I would have even been ahead of my brother who was two years older then me. But when the world went downhill, and I lost both of my brothers, I couldn't be a kid anymore, not if I wanted to live. Glenn, Rick, Jewel, Mar, Daryl, and the others, they would have liked me to keep my childhood, and they tried," he said as he glanced at Glenn.

Glenn gave him a supportive smile as they walked. "But, to many bad things happen to be able to be the same as you were before. We were trying at the prison."

"But you still had to be prepared, ready to fight," Mitch answered. "You find your voice, you become useful and you prepare to die for your family, if that what you need to do," he said honestly.

"No one's going to die today kiddo," Tara said.

"If we don't find a vehicle, we're all going to die real soon," Abraham stated.

Tara shook her head as she moved away from Eugene and walked in front of Glenn and Mitch. "You guys are a couple power walkers," she told them as she walked ahead and stopped then looked at Glenn.

Mitch stepped forward and read the sign. "Glenn, go to Terminus. Maggie, Sasha, Bob and Ronnie," it said. Glenn stepped closer to it and read it. He took off running. "Glenn, hold up!" Mitch yelled after him as he turned around and looked at Abraham. "That's four, four of the people you said we wouldn't find," he pointed out as he ran after him. "Glenn! Us Atlanta boys have to stick together!" he said as he ran after him.

Tara glanced back at Eugene, Rosita and Abraham before she ran off to follow them. They walked in silence for a while before Abraham stopped.

"Hold up, we're stopping here," he yelled at Glenn and Mitch. Tired is slow, slow is dead," he told them.

Glenn looked up at the sun. "It's barley noon," he responded.

"I don't give a monkey's left nut," Abraham said. "None of us slept more then a couple hours since we went all Casey Jones. This place looks safe, we need to rest. The kid is doing his best to keep up with you, but he's got shorter legs then the rest of us and he's falling behind, not that he'd ever complain. I get it, you have to find her. Well, Rosita and me, we got a mission too. It's keeping that man alive, getting him to Washington, and saving the whole damn world. So we're going in that tower, and we're going now," he informed them.

"I'm alright, Glenn, I can keep going," Mitch told him.

Glenn started to say something as they heard the Walkers' start to growl. Eugene looked up. "Oh crap," he said.

"Hey hey watch out!" Glenn yelled as a walker came into sight from inside the tower.

"GO! Go!" Abraham commanded as he ran over to block Eugene from the walker falling on him, knocking Tara over in the process.

"Tara!" Mitch yelled as he dropped his bag and went over to her.

"I'm alright kiddo," Tara assured him as she pulled her knee to her chest.

"Are you Ok?" Rosita asked her again.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Tara assured her.

"We've got to stay here, whose going to help me carry her up?" Rosita asked.

Mitch looked at Glenn. "Maybe we should stop, just so Tara can rest the leg. Mar would make her put it up, try and wrap it."

Glenn helped Tara up. "You want to stop or you want to keep going?"

"No, keep going, I'm good," Tara assured them.

"You sure?" Glenn asked.

"Tara we can take a few hours, you aren't going to be any good to yourself or us if you hurt yourself more," Mitch reasoned with her.

"No, no I'm alright, I'm good," Tara repeated.

Glenn nodded. "Look if she can keep going, we can keep going. Or you guys can stay here. You don't need us, we don't need you," he told Abraham.

"Wow you're an ass. She'll do whatever you say because she thinks she owes you. And Mitch? He idolizes you, he's not going to say anything because he doesn't want to be considered weak. Man up, stay here for a couple hours," Rosita told him.

Glenn looked at the two of them then at Abraham. "You just care about getting Eugene safe, right? It's the only reason you want to stop? We go until sundown, I give Eugene my riot gear right here, right now. Everyone wins," he told him.

"Except her," Rosita told him.

"You're not her mama. She says she can walk, she can walk," Abraham told Rosita. "You got yourself a deal. But you," he said to Mitch, "give me your canteen, you need to drink more," he told the child.

"He's right," Glenn told him. "You need to stop, you tell me. Daryl will have my hide if I let anything happen to you," he told Mitch.

Mitch smiled as he handed him the water canteen. "Nothing's gonna happen to me, Glenn. You won't let it," he simply answered as Abraham filled the water bottle and handed it back to him. "Thanks," Mitch said as he took a sip and started walking with them, him staying by Tara in case she needed any help.

Glenn took off running as he saw a tunnel and more writing. He touched the blood on the wall with the same message as before. "We're getting close, it's still wet."

Abraham looked at the tunnel. "Well we sure as Shinelo can't go up and over," he said. "How about round it?"

Mitch looked at him. "Where do you come up with these phrases?" he asked as he shook his head.

"No that'll take a day maybe more. If Maggie went through, I'm going through. We're close," Glenn said.

"Shut up," Abraham said as he walked closer.

"Walkers," Mitch said as he heard the moans.

Abraham nodded. "That there is a long, dark full of reanimated corpses. I don't have full on certainty that I can get Eugene through there alive. My recommendation would take the day, make the detour, play it safe, but I know neither one of you are going to do that. So this is where we've got to part ways, you're on your own."

"No you're not," Tara told Mitch and Glenn.

Abraham bent down and pulled three cans of food out. "Here," he said as he offered them to Glenn.

"No, no, those are yours, you'll need them for your trip," Glenn said as he bent down and looked at Mitch. "You can go with them, if I find Mar and Daryl, I'll tell them where you are, and we'll come find you."

Mitch shook his head. "No way, Glenn. We made it through the quarry, the CDC, the farm, the prison, I'm not leaving you now. It's not even a choice," he said as he took the cans from Abraham and put them in his bag. "I'm sorry I bashed the window in with the bat."

"I'm sorry for hitting you in the face," Glenn added.

"I'm not, I like to fight," Abraham said as he looked at Mitch as he handed Glenn a flashlight. "You got spirit, I like that."

Rosita walked over and hugged Glenn. "Good luck and try not to be an ass," she told him as she hugged Mitch. "You keep an eye on this one," she told him before she hugged Tara and walked over to Abraham.

Mitch and Tara both turned to go into the tunnel but stopped as Eugene started to speak. "You three are good people," he said as he paused. "I have to say that you are seriously hot, Tara."

Mitch and Glenn both looked at each other as they tried not to laugh. "Yeah, I like girls," Tara informed him.

"I'm well aware of that," Eugene stated.

Abraham looked at them. "Say you get in trouble in there, you turn around. We're doubling back to the first road we crossed. Maybe you find us before we find the right ride," he said.

"Thanks," Glenn said as he nodded to them. The three of them watched the other three leave before Glenn looked at Tara. "Hey I know what you're going through," he told her. "Mitch stay in between us," he instructed as they walked into the tunnel. "After all this started, after I realized that I never would see my family, my friends again, I was numb. All day long, just numb, I get it. I think we both do," he said as he looked at Mitch.

"Yeah, we do," Mitch answered.

"When Brian told us he wanted to take over the prison, it sounded bad. When he captured Joey, and Joey told me what he was, I should have listened, but I didn't. When I found my girlfriend, she was dead, my niece, my sister was wounded and pounced on. I saw it happen. But still it wasn't as bad as seeing what he did to Maggie's father, because that's when I knew. The second I saw the sword, I wanted to scream no, but it just happened. Brian said we might have to kill people, but I was the first person to jump in. I was just hanging on the might," Tara told them.

"You aren't the first person to be fooled by him, Tara. You aren't a bad person," Mitch said as they walked. "Woah…." he said as they came to a rock pile with walkers stuck in it. He immediately took out the knife on his belt.

"The blood is still wet, this had to happen today," Tara said.

"Hold this," Glenn told her as he handed her the flashlight. "Mitch, stay with Tara."

"Glenn, be careful," Mitch told him as he watched Glenn take out a knife and kill a few of the walkers then climb on the rock pile.

"Go kiddo," Tara said as she helped him climb up. She glanced at Glenn as he pointed the flashlight on the walkers. "Glenn what are you doing?"

"He's looking for Maggie," Mitch answered quietly.

"She's not one of them, and there's no bodies on the ground. She made it through. We have to get rid of them," Glenn told them.

"Maggie wouldn't want you to risk it, Glenn. That's a lot of them," Mitch said.

"We don't have enough ammo," Tara told him.

"Then we push through," Glenn said.

"We have to find another way," Tara said. "Glenn, I can't," she said as she nodded to her foot.

"She's stuck," Mitch said as he bent down. "Give me the flashlight," he told Glenn.

Glenn tried to move the rocks then looked back at the walkers' coming. "Come on," he said as he tried to move the rock.

"Glenn, you and Mitch go. Find Maggie, find Daryl and Mar…find them," Tara told them.

"We're not leaving you," Mitch said.

"He's right," Glenn said as he tried to put more weight on the rock.

"Even if you get this off of me, I can't run. And if you help me, they're going to get all three of us," Tara told them.

"There's got to be a different way, there's got to be a way," Glenn said.

"Glenn they're getting closer," Mitch told him.

"Get out of here, both of you," Tara yelled.

"No!" both of them told her.

"Mitch climb higher on the rock pile. Empty your rifle then use whatever you got. We're not leaving you," Glenn said as he turned and started firing as Mitch did the same. "Come on," Glenn said as he emptied the rifle and ready to fight with the butt of the rifle as Mitch did the same.

Mitch put his arm over his eyes as something blinded them.

"Get down!" Abraham's voice boomed as people started to shoot and the walkers' started falling.

Glenn waited until the firing was done then looked at Tara and Mitch. "You alright?" he asked both of them as he turned around.

Mitch grinned as he saw Maggie, Sasha, Bob and Ronnie. He looked up at Abraham. "Guess miracles do happen huh?" he asked.

Author's Note: This was a long chapter. I'm ending it there but we'll be back to them (maybe not the next chapter but we will) Please review.
