Valka completed her walk through the cavern and returned to the tunnel that led back to where she had set up camp. All the dragons had left this morning, without a sign of Cloudjumper to be seen. As the year passed and the winter returned, she had been more excited and anxious about this day. She felt ashamed of how many times she had touched herself to the memory of him deep in the female stormcutter, wishing it would be her this time. He must have left without her. It was his nature, he was a dragon after all. She still felt upset. But as she was approaching her camp, the familiar sound of claws scraping against rock echoed through the cave. With her heart racing, she could spot his tail already. He had stayed, just for her! Finally she turned the last corner. And there he was, on his back with his legs spread apart.
