This Night
Chapter 192
Author's Note: If you haven't gone to you tube and checked out the video that Imnaturallysuper made for Jewel and Rick, go now, review and like, then come back and read this chapter. You're back? Alright! Isn't it awesomeness? I think I'm responsible for 90% of the views-I just can't believe how good it is! AWESOMENESS tripled! Jick's (once again thanks to Elliewellybear for that cool name!) will be reunited soon, but of course Merle was just talking to me about what I'm going to be doing with him, trust me I haven't forgotten you. But crazy bat belongs to Jewel, no one messes with momma bear! My son comes back from college on Thursday for 22 days, so I will try and update once a week then. I go on vacation in September for my birthday. I won't have access to the computer. We may be half way through season 5 (yeah who am I kidding?) by then. Review please!
Axel and Daryl's POV:
Axel woke up the next morning after they had spent the night in the garage and glanced at Daryl. "I'm gonna go outside, talk to Tony, see what I can find."
"Don't push to hard. If it's part of the family, we'll need to stick with them until we get close, then take off to warn them," Daryl told him as Axel got up from the ground.
Axel nodded as he went outside to see Tony. "Surprised you got stuck with the guard shift, thought I would for sure."
Tony glanced over at him. "Len said you were in prison? Some white collar shit?"
"Nope. Gun possession, robbery and drugs," Axel told him. He didn't need to tell him that the gun was a toy gun.
"Serious shit. You were released before all this?" Tony asked.
Axel shook his head. "Na, was still inside. Daryl and his group broke inside the prison little less then a year ago. Five of us were alive, I'm the last man standing."
"Well shit, you are tougher then you look," Tony complimented.
"Joe said you got a good look at the people that killed your friend?" Axel questioned as he held out beef jerky to him.
"They were hiding under the bed I was sleeping on. Worthless pieces of crap, didn't even raise a hand to help me when Len was choking me. We could have worked something out, especially with that woman. I could tell she real scared, curled to the side, practically shaking in her boots. She was real pretty, curly hair, green eyes. The man was real protective, but he was messed up bad. Looked like he had some kind of fight, hand was bandaged. Don't know how we missed them, or why they didn't finish the job. Seriously takes fucktards to go to stab a person and not finish the damn job. Man didn't have a chance to fight, they've got what's coming to them," Tony said as they turned to a noise inside.
"Give it back," they hear Len's voice say. Axel stepped inside and looked at the group. "My half was in my bag, now it's gone. Now aint nobody around here interested in no half of a damn cottontail except you," he told Daryl. "Aint that right?"
"Empty your bag. And while you're at it, have Jail Bird there empty his," Len said.
"Aint no one but you still thinking about that crap," Daryl said.
"Did you take his rabbit, Daryl? Just tell me the truth," Joe said as he walked up.
"I didn't take nothing," Daryl told him.
"Axel?" Joe asked.
"Nope, I'm trying to stay on the straight and narrow now that I finally got a pardon from the state of Georgia," Axel said as he glanced at Daryl.
"Well aren't you a funny one?" Ulysses asked.
Joe took Daryl's bag and emptied it on the ground. "Well look at that," Joe said as the front of the rabbit fell out of the bag.
"You put that there didn't you?" Daryl asked as he stepped forward. "When I went to take a piss?" he asked Len.
"You lied," Len said as he stepped closer to Daryl.
"Didn't you?" Daryl asked as he pushed him.
"Daryl, come on," Axel said as he stepped up. "If he said he didn't do it, he didn't do it," he told them.
"You lied, you stole, you got your buddy here sticking up for you. We gonna teach this fool or what Joe?" Len asked.
"Whoa, whoa," Joe said. "Now Daryl says he didn't take your half of the rabbit, so we got a little bit of a conundrum. Either he is lying, which is an actionable offense, or," he said as he turned and looked Len, "or you didn't plant it on him like some pussy, punk ass, cheating, coward cop, did you? Cause while that wouldn't be specifically breaking the rules, it'd be disappointing," he told Len.
"It would, I didn't," Len told Joe.
"Well," Joe said as he turned around to face Daryl and Axel then quickly turned and hit Len, forcing him to the ground, "teach him a lesson gents. He's a lying piece of shit and I'm sick of it. Teach him all the way," he said as he turned back to Daryl and Axel. "I saw him do it."
Axel looked at him. "I saw a lot of that in prison, people planting stuff on other people to get them in trouble."
"Why didn't you try and stop him?" Daryl asked.
"He wanted to play that out, I let him. You told the truth, he lied. You understand the rules, he doesn't," Joe said as the other men beat Len. "We'll leave after we take care of this piece of crap."
"Daryl and I can make a sweep of the area, make sure it's clear of the dead," Axel said as he turned around and Daryl followed him. Axel led him out and glanced back at the door. "The woman was definitely Mar, the man sounded like Rick, a bandage on his hand."
Daryl looked back at the door. "Aint gonna let them do anything to any of them. He mention a kid?"
"No just the two of them," Axel said. "I'm with you, I'm going to let you take the lead on this, God knows I'm not like you, but Rick, Jewel, you, Mar, the rest, it was the first time in a long time that you all made me feel like I was important. We're gonna find them, and we aren't gonna let anything happen to them," he told the other man. "Beth was right, you know? About us not being the only ones, this proves it," he said. "We'll find her too," he assured the other man as they went inside.
Jes, Mika's and Jewel's POV:
Jes looked at Jewel and then at Mika and Hope. "I still say it's safer for you to stay in here, keep out of there line of sight, until everyone get's here."
"I need to see the layout, I need to get my strength up. That's better to do with you by my side, then when we're trying to get out of here," Jewel said. "Mika, you understand we have to pretend that we don't know that some of our family is here right?"
Mika nodded. "If we don't pretend, then it'll endanger everyone, especially Hope. But also our family in there."
Jewel nodded as she kissed the top of Mika's head. "I'm sorry that Lizzie wasn't with them. Maybe she'll be with the others."
"I'm sorry that Summer wasn't with them," Mika said. "I've got my knife in my boot and another one in my jacket sleeve. Out of sight, but I can get to them if need be. Only use them if no other choice and if you and Jes get in trouble."
Jes smirked. "There's hope for you yet, kid. Alright, both of you stay near me. You too, Hope, don't you go wondering around," she told the baby in Jewel's arms as she opened the door.
"Thought you weren't a baby person?" Jewel asked with an amused look on her face.
"I'm not, but didn't want her to feel left out," Jes answered as they walked out of building. "We'll take it as slow as you need."
"I'm good," Jewel assured her.
Jes glanced around as they walked out to the main area, heads turning to look at them. She noticed the first one up was Claire. "Of course," she thought to herself.
"Look whose coming to visit! Hello little angel," Claire said as she reached to touch the babies head.
Jewel adjusted the baby in her arms so the only thing Claire could touch was her arm. "We just got her to sleep, we wouldn't want to disturb her."
"Oh of course not. I'm glad to see that you are feeling better and getting the three of you out of that room. Maybe we can talk to Mary about giving you and angel here a room to yourself, let Mika bunk with Jes. It can't be comfortable all four of you in that room," Claire told her.
"I've slept in tighter spots," Jewel answered. "Plus, Hope doesn't take much room and it's nice to have Jes and Mika near me to help me. I'm still a bit sore."
"Jewel, it's good to see you out, are you feeling better? And how is our smallest member of Terminus doing?" Gareth asked as he came up.
"We're both doing fine. I never got a chance to thank you or Mary properly for allowing us in, or finding Jes," Jewel told him.
"Well we couldn't really leave you out there in labor, could we? That would be in humane, and the only way to survive is for us to be stronger, and bring people in who are strong," Gareth told her. "Does she have a name yet?"
"Hope," Jewel answered.
"She really doesn't look like a Hope, maybe a Lois or Samantha. I always wanted a baby girl named Samantha," Claire told them, not taking her eyes off the baby.
"Hope is a fine name, Claire. A beacon of Hope in such a dark world," Gareth said. "Come on, let's let these four take there walk," he told her as he led her away.
Jewel let out the breath she was holding as she kissed the top of the babies head. "That crazy bat is mine when all this goes down," she told Jes and Mika as they took a short tour of Terminus.
