This Night
Chapter 200
Author's Note: I wasn't going to show what happened with Joey, Ty and Martin, but since we know Martin has to stay alive (I was pissed with Ty about that) I needed to show what happened. As always, please review.
Joey and Ty's POV:
Joey turned to the window as the explosion happened at Terminus then looked at Martin then Ty. "That's a good sound," he told Ty.
"That Terminus?" Martin asked.
"Yeah," Ty answered.
"Maybe you're gonna win this, maybe your friends, I mean those two women you were with, just got capped," Martin told them.
Joey glared at him. "Shut up, before I shut you up for good. Why are we keeping this ass hole alive Tyreese? If you can't do it, take Judy outside, and I'll do it," he told him.
"No one's got to die today, Joey," Tyreese told him.
"Man, if you believe that, then it's definitely going to be the two of you and the kid," Martin told them.
Joey took out his gun and started to walk over to him but stopped as Ty grabbed his arm. "We don't have to do this now, maybe later, but right now, no."
Joey looked up at him. "Are you kidding me right now Ty? Maybe you didn't hear what I said earlier, so let me repeat it. The gunshots we heard? That was him and his people herding our family, YOUR sisters' in a train car. How many people do you think they led to there deaths that way Ty? Rick and Jewel are in there, Judy's parents'. He has no qualms in killing Judith, or us. If you don't give a shit about yourself, then think about Judy. I was there when you were about ready to give up Ty, ready to leave Sasha and Lexi alone in this world. That shit head is right, Ty, you are a good guy, and in this world, we need people like you to remind us of the good in us. Killing him doesn't make you a bad man, killing him makes you a man who cares about his family. His counterpart, Sloan, we killed her. We did it because we knew, if we let her go, then she'd just come back. She tried the same pathetic bullshit that this ass is trying to do. You heard him, those people at Terminus, they are just some people he is surviving with. Judy isn't a friend, Ty, she's family," he told the other man. "Take Judy outside, and let me kill this asshole."
Ty looked at him. "Carol and Summer may need help getting our family out. I'll take care of him. You're right, he has to die today, but I got to be the one to do it. You can understand that right?" he asked.
Joey glanced at Ty then at Martin. "Yeah, I understand. You sure?"
Ty nodded. "I'm sure. Now go help bring our family home," he told the other man.
Group POV:
Summer and Carol glanced at each other as they walked out of the woods and smiled as they saw the family together. Daryl was the first one to turn around and notice and ran giving Summer a hug and kiss, then grabbed Carol.
"So you two were the cavalry huh?" Jes asked.
"Summer!" Carl ran to her and hugged her. "You did this?"
"Had help," Summer answered with a smile. She took a breath as she looked at Mika holding the baby. She knew she had to tell her, that Lizzie was dead, she just didn't know how to tell her. She was brought out of her thoughts by Mar hugging her.
"Thank you," Mar told her as she kissed the top of her head. "None of us are ever going to be able to say thank you enough, to any of you. We had a fighting chance because of all of you, even if you all didn't know you were working together," she said.
Jewel smiled as she walked over and touched Summer's face and squeezed Carol's hand as Summer took the newborn. "This is your big sister Summer and your big brother Carl. Yes."
Rick walked over as Daryl and Mar stopped hugging Carol. "You did that?"
"With help from one kick ass Dixon," Carol said softly as Rick hugged her.
Jewel smiled. "Thank you, Carol," she said as she hugged her.
Carol looked at Summer then at Rick. "You've got to come with us," she said as she started leading the group.
Joey saw the group coming from the woods and looked back at the cabin. "Ty! They're coming!" he said as he walked to meet the group. "Rick."
"Joey," Rick greeted back with a nod of his head. He looked over Joey's shoulder and saw Ty coming out on the porch with Judith. He dropped the bag he was carrying and ran toward them, with Carl, Jewel, Sasha and Lexi right behind him. Rick took Judith from Ty as Ty ran and hugged Sasha then Lexi. "You're alright," Rick whispered as he kissed the top of Judith's head.
Carl tentatively touched Judith's back like she was going to disappear then kissed her hand.
Jewel shook her head as she wiped the tears away from her eyes. "And you gave up on us Carl Grimes," she teased as she kissed Judith's hand then kissed Rick. "We're alright."
Rick nodded as he placed a hand Ty's shoulder then looked at Joey and went over and did the same. "Thank you."
Joey shook his head. "Judith was the easy one, Summer managed to get shot. Again."
Summer shrugged. "Carol took care of it, but I do feel like I should be stealing the Sheriff's hat," she teased.
"You are definitely leading in getting shot. Stop it," Rick warned as he kissed the top of her head.
Summer looked at Joey then at Mika. "We have to tell her."
Rick looked at the two of them. "Tell her what?" he questioned as he watched Judith trying to figure out the baby in Summer's arms. "That's your baby sister, Hope. Yes, she's small isn't she?" Rick asked as he smiled.
"When the prison fell, Ty, he had Judith, Lizzie and Molly. We were with them, Carol found us. Lizzie…Lizzie, her and Molly…they didn't make it," Summer told Rick. It was evident that she wasn't telling him everything.
"I can tell Mika," Jewel said as she joined them.
"No, we'll do it," Summer said as she handed Hope to Jewel. "She's getting fussy, should nurse her before we head out," she said as she went over to Mika. "Hey, can we talk to you alone for a minute?"
Mika looked up. "Sure," she answered as she looked up at Joey and Summer and went with them. "What's wrong?"
Summer took a breath as she bent down. "Mika, thank you for being there for mom and the baby. I'm never going to be able to thank you enough for that. And, it makes what I have to tell you that much harder because you took care of my mom and baby sister when I couldn't….and I couldn't protect Lizzie…." she said as she tried not to cry.
Joey bent down. "We're real sorry, Mika….you know if we could have saved her, saved Molly, we would have. I know that this isn't going to make it any easier, but you are not alone. It doesn't make up for a loss of a sister, I know from personal experience, but it helps to know you have people that love you, that depend on you," Joey told her.
"You definitely have that Mika," Jewel said as she came over and sat down beside her as she nursed Hope. "I wouldn't have made it out of that bus with out you, Hope wouldn't have been here if you weren't with me every step of the way. I'm sorry Mika," she said as she kissed the top of the girl's head.
"It was the walkers' wasn't it? Lizzie was playing with them? Or she brought them closer and they got to Molly then to her right?" Mika asked.
Summer glanced at Joey then over to Ty and Carol. She couldn't tell her the truth.
"Yeah, Mika, Lizzie brought both of there deaths on because of what she believed," Joey answered.
Mika nodded as she wiped her eyes. "Thank you for telling me. I'll carry Hope after she eats," she offered.
Jewel smiled as she kissed the top of her head. "Of course," she told her as she watched Summer and Joey move off to the side knowing that her oldest daughter wasn't telling the whole truth.
Joey and Summer joined Ty and Carol. "What happened with Martin?" Joey asked.
"There was a bunch of walkers' out here, must have just missed you when you left," he told Joey. "He got his hands around Judith's neck," Ty answered. With that, Carol, Summer and Joey all turned to go into the cabin. "No, he's dead. I..I had to, so I did. I could," he assured the group.
"You make sure that he's not going to come back?" Joey questioned him.
"He's not going to come back," Ty answered.
Carol nodded as she turned to watch the rest of the group.
Ronnie watched Jewel with the baby and gave a small smile. "Where ever we plan on heading to, I'd like to be able to check on Jewel and the baby. All that running that she did today, it's not good for her."
Rick nodded. "I agree with you. We need to find somewhere to hold up for a couple days, regroup. I don't even know if the fire is still burning."
"It is, I learned in Science class," Mika answered.
Rick nodded. "Yeah, we need to go."
"But where?" Daryl questioned.
"Somewhere far away from there," Rick answered. "We'll move as soon as Hope is finished eating," he said with a grin toward Jewel.
"I could go scout the area, see what's out there," Jes offered.
"No, we stay together," Rick answered.
Summer and Joey looked at each other. "We know a place," Summer offered. "A house, about a half a days walk from here."
"It's cleared, got a gate. Could stay there for a day, two at most. We could scout the area, see if we can find working cars. It would be easier then walking for Jewel," Joey said. "A night or two of rest would be good for all of us. Plus scout the places in the areas, look for somewhere that may have diapers. We have two babies' in the group now, that's a kind of a need now item,"
Rick glanced at him. "You're being logical again."
Joey laughed. "It's the truth," he said.
Jes nodded. "A couple days will give me time to make sure the rest of these pricks are dead."
"They're either going to run or die," Maggie told them.
"Didn't you learn anything from the Governor?" Jes asked. "If they live, they plot, and then they wind up bringing a tank to your front door and cutting off a good man's head with a sword."
"Stop," Jewel said as she passed the baby to Mika to burp. "We need to regroup first. I agree with Jes, but Jes, you don't get to do that. Hershel's loss is great to this whole group. He touched all of us that knew him, he made it his own personal mission to make us better people in this world. Reminding us, daily, that keeping our humanity, who we are, makes us better then men like the Governor, people like these people. If we wind up fighting among ourselves, throwing out comments like that, then it tears us apart and they win. We can't do that, we need to be the family that just found each other again after really bad odds. Families have disagreements, family don't always have to agree with each other," she said.
Merle snorted. "She's speaking from personal experience there," he said.
Jewel glared at him. "Did it sound like I was done Merle? Now shut up," she warned him. "What families do have to do is be able to rely on each other when the shit hit's the fan. We just threw shit back in the termites face. Now, I'd like to get out of here before this whole damn place is crowded by walkers," she said.
Summer nodded. "Mika and Mitch will stay in the middle of the group with Hope, Carl, Lexi or I can take turns carrying Judith."
"Make sure everyone drinks water, keeps hydrated. Jewel gets extra rations of water and peaches," Ronnie instructed.
"Everyone make sure they have a weapon, the better shots in the front and back. I'm going to assume you're a good shot," Jes said as she glanced at Abraham. "You see any of these ass holes, you shoot them."
"Use knives on walkers'. Hopefully we can get ahead of them," Rick told them. "Let's move."
Michonne squeezed Jewel's shoulder. "You did good momma."
"Thanks," Jewel said as she stayed back and went with Rick, bring up the rear of the pack. "It's not going to be easy," she said.
"No, it's not. But, we're together, right? That's the important thing," Rick told her as he kissed her knuckle. He stopped at the sign that offered sanctuary and grabbed a rock and crossed it off and put NO above the sanctuary part and nodded as they joined the rest of the group.
Author's Note: Like I said before there is going to be a couple chapters before they find Gabriel. I really hate that man plus Jick's needs some alone time with Hope! Review please.
