Hey there and thanks for reading! I have a similar story to this but I think this angle showing Mirajane overcoming her terrifying metamorphosis into a demon is really interesting, I have a few ideas for this story but am not sure if it will be a super long term one like I plan for that other Erza/Mirajane story((chapter 1 posted(: I'd love feedback from you guys! Without letting on too much I'll tell you of a few slight changes I'll have planned, mirajane and Erza won't be rivals in the same sense, their powers will rival each other and they'll compete against each other but more respect kindness and love will be between them and Mirajane won't be nearly as nasty as the show portrayed her teenage self to be towards Erza and other members. As stated I plan to continue this for a bit but I'm not sure how long so if you have any ideas suggestions or requests for this story or any others please do share them!
As always thanks so much, it means the world to have support for my writing!:)
It was a sunshine filled day in Magnolia, a day where the streets were filled with bustling lively people. Within these crowded streets moved a young 11 year old girl, she had white hair and she wore a dark cloak purposefully intending to hide as much of her body as she could manage beneath the cloak. Her name was Mirajane strauss. Growing up her parents weren't around so she was left to raise her younger siblings. That was until they joined the relatively well known fairytail guild. The two younger ones fit in almost instantly while Mirajane herself found it increasingly difficult to connect with anyone within the guild. According to the master she was born with the ability to wield a powerful magic known as takeover. She personally could harness the power of a demon to her advantage. But was that a good thing? It meant she would have immense power to potentially hurt other people. She was a freak nothing more and nothing less and that was the reason she had to leave fairytail behind.
"They'll be fine, fairytail is a great place for you. Lisanna and Elfman, I'll miss you but this is for the best. All I attract is negativity the guild doesn't need me around to hurt them." She continued to tell herself things like that hoping to justify leaving her family behind. However not long into her trip, she hadn't even left magnolia yet she suddenly found herself face to face with a small group.
"Hey you're that demon aren't you? What a freak even the fairytail freak show didn't want you." One of them commented as they noticed her bag.
Another sneered "We should just do the world a favor and get rid of you ourselves." He stepped towards her as she simply stepped back.
"P-please stay away, I don't wish you any harm but I fear the worst if you approach me." She replied fearfully as her back balanced against a wall she hadn't notice come up on her.
The one who seemed to be the leader took offense at this "Was that a threat? Do you think you're in a position to threaten us? I think it's time we cut you down to size." He spoke firmly as he approached her beginning to charge up a spell. Then it happened in a blur of red and silver, his spell was blocked by a sword made of special anti magic metal "What? Who?" He was interrupted when the blunt end of the sword connected with his abdomen.
"Who am I? My name is Erza Scarlet, I am one of the few S class wizards of fairytail and I don't take kindly to you threatening one of our members." She spoke firmly as she drew her sword towards them "Draw your weapons I will give you an honorable defeat." She explained as the one leader looked amongst his friends.
"Check the math princess, one of you and five of us what're you going to do?" He asked followed by a chuckle as he began to spark with electricity.
"An electric wizard? That's somewhat rare for this area." Erza explained as she noted each one of the group began to charge up the same.
"That's right, we're new to town and here to cause as much trouble as possible. Meet the lightning gang lead by yours truly. What hope do you have against us?" He commented as Erza's face turned to a scowl.
"You five are the ones who took the power away from that school? That was truly despicable and something no true man of honor would do. I'll give you the first attack, try and strike me now before I run out of my thinning patience. Consider that a threat." She warned as the groups exchanged glances with each other.
In a second the leader who went simply by the code name 'the boss' began. Hanging his next attack, him and his group began to furious launch lightning attacks at the two girls. Mirajane shut her eyes fearful for what could come.
"You truly are a disgrace. Lightning and electricity have such potential but no matter the magic it's useless in the hands of mere fools." She explained as she began to glow bright white, in a second she had transformed into a requip designed for speed, lightning was useless if it couldn't touch her. So with that plan in mind she began to maneuver around each attack before she made five quick strikes noting how each one fell at the same time "Keep training, maybe some day you can truly do good and join a guild much like the ones before you have." She explained before turning back to Mirajane "Ready to go home?" She asked curiously.
This entire time Mirajane stood back and watched as the red haired might protected her, her the scourge of the earth demon who brought calamity everywhere she went. "A-why… why did you defend me? You know I'm not a real member, I only joined because of my siblings I'm even trying to leave… why?" She asked in a nervous tone wondering what her intentions could be, perhaps the group wanted her power?
Erza sheathed her blade and turned back over her shoulder "You're a member of fairytail its simple as that. You have the guild mark which makes you a part of our family. Now let's go, the master sent me for you and your siblings are very worried." She explained as she extended a hand for the girl to take.
"Family?! The only family I have is my brother and sister and I'm the reason we had to leave in the first place! All I bring is heartache and pain why should I come back to that?!" She questioned sounding both hostile and hurt.
Erza stayed pretty even-keeled during the young girls outburst, finally she had taken a moment to collect her thoughts before speaking "Do you even hear yourself? You want to keep from causing them pain so you leave them? That gives them a hurt worse than an ethereon blast. You need to understand something, everyone who joins our guild has a troubled past, myself included. It doesn't give you the right to abandon your family. Now I hope you understand why I'm standing here, not because I was asked to but because I was called to. I consider the guild my family and that includes you and your siblings so if I can put a smile on your sisters face. I will even if it makes you angry with me." She explained fully as Mirajane seemed to have tears in her eyes.
She still didn't fully understand the guilds 'family' philosophy, how could one value someone as family when they had just met? And how could this value grow if the other didn't deserve it? It was perplexing to say the least but she gave a small sigh "I-I'm not worth your time… you seem like you have a kind heart it would be better used on someone who wasn't the scourge of your guild." She replied sadly still showing how little she valued herself.
Erza herself sighed this time as she turned away from her "Listen, I don't know you very well but according to your sister you also have a very kind heart. She says you were always happy before you came into contact with that demon and now you're always so hard on yourself when you shouldn't be. You treat this magical ability as a curse because others push you to that length. Why is having the power to protect you family bad? It's like I told those fools, Magic is a sword in the hand of the brave and wise. The takeover ability you have is rare and very powerful, if you allow us to help you control it only positives can come from it." She explained finally as she extended her hand "Just give us a chance, until you're ready I can and will shield you from the public eye until you're ready." She explained in a bit of an upbeat tone.
Mirajane stared at the knights hand, the gesture didn't seem empty something within her told her trusting the girl and trusting the guild was the right thing to do. But how could she? She'd been so conditioned by public hatred trust as a thing of the past. That's why she told herself she had to leave, her siblings were normal she could trust them with the guild but who's to say they wouldn't turn on her? Then again there was the problem of her siblings, it would break Lisanna if Mirajane was suddenly gone. With extreme skepticism she extended a hand and took hold of the other girls "I-I'll trust you for the moment, just please don't make me regret it." She replied as she felt Erza beginning to pull her back towards the guild.
A few hours later Mirajane had already been escorted directly to the master, there standing before him was a broken preteen who seemed to be giving up on life itself, he simply couldn't accept that from someone with so much potential.
"Erza, thank you but please leave us." He instructed as she bowed and did just that, leaving them alone for the moment he sat in silence "So, you think going away is a good idea?" He asked curiously as Mira looked up for a moment before returning to silence staring at the ground "You do understand how devastating that would have been to your siblings, don't you?" Be asked curiously as the young wizard got ready to answer, before she was interrupted by a loud cry.
"MIRA!" Came the voice of her younger sister as the pitter patter of her little feet could be heard across the room until she was close enough to hug Mira "What were you thinking! I was so scared I'd never see you again!" She cried out with tears down her cheeks.
Mirajane finally looked up, rather than remorse or sadness fear was evident in her eyes "A-as long as I'm here you two won't ever be safe. You'll be known as the little siblings of a demon, is that what you want?! Anyone around town that knows us will fear you, or worse, hate you! It's not fair but I can't accept that!" She exclaimed as she shut her eyes trying to keep her tears at bay but clearly failing as they began to fall.
Makarov sat cross legged on the counter as he heard her reasoning "you're not a demon Mirajane. You wield the power to transform and use the power of one but that doesn't mean you are one, it's always important to remember that distinction as we work to get your power under control." He explained honestly a Mirajane was shocked at how calm he seemed.
"Y-you mean I'm not expelled for abandoning the guild?" She asked curiously, the master as well as fellow fairytail member Erza simply laughed it off.
"Why would I have sent Erza to bring you back if we wanted to send you away?" He asked curiously as she seemed to understand that logic at least.
"Well then, what does it matter if I'm not literally a demon, it's all everyone will think I am until I rid myself of this." She gestured to her arm which still was mid transform "all I want is for my siblings to be save, Lisanna and Elfman mean the world to me if their safe I'll stay." She promised as by now she'd turned back and returned her sisters hug with one arm while paying attention to the master still.
The master seemed deep in thought for a moment "Sit the same way I am, in this same pose." He explained as Mirajane did just that with the exception of Lisanna being sat on her lap. "Shut your eyes and focus all your magic energy on that arm, think of how it once looked back before it was transformed." He instructed as her arm started to glow brightly until it faded and it was back to normal just like before she met the demon whom she'd taken over.
Mirajane was overwhelmed with emotion as she stretched her arm out feeling it with her other hand, it was normal, now just by looking at her you couldn't tell her abilities, was this really happening? Could she really have a normal life? "Thank you!" She cried out as she moved her sister aside and rushed to hug the older man.
Makarov chuckled to himself as he returned the hug "Just so you know, it isn't gone forever." He explained honestly as she stepped back with a questioning look "You have the power to transform into another being and use magic others can't. It's called takeover magic I'm guessing your siblings will possess it in some form later on but for right now if you work to get better with magic you will soon be able to control it and transform at will, even perform full body takeovers." He explained honestly as He explained honestly as she seemed apprehensive At that information.
"I-I don't want that power, is there anything I can do to just rid myself of it?" She asked nervously, her heart broke when the elder man shook his head.
"It's going to take you some time to come to terms with everything we've discussed today, I suggest you take a rest and think about it. Rest assured we can and will help you control your power it's only a matter of time." Master Makarov explained as he looked to Erza "Escort her to her room and make sure she's comfortable." He instructed firmly as Erza nodded in response to him.
She stepped up and took the girls hand and began to walk her back towards the bedrooms. Once they were back in the bedroom "You believe everything he said?" Mirajane asked choosing to break the silence with a question she already knew the answer to.
Erza was about to leave when the question was posed to her, she turned back "I do, he's never given me any reason to not believe, quite the contrary since I've been here he's made outlandish promises to many wizards with each one coming true. It may feel like an impossible mountain to climb but if you hope to find long lasting peace you must climb it no matter the cost." She explained honestly as Mirajane seemed satisfied with that answer, turning back to the other side to lay down and try to sleep.
And surprisingly she fell right asleep, it seemed this was what she needed, somehow the master knew how badly this 'curse' was effecting her sleeping, just as he'd hoped giving her a nudge in the right direction helped correct that problem.
