Chapter 6
"The Rescue Part 1"
In Pursuit …
With Beckett behind the wheel, Gates was on the phone with Ryan and Esposito. Gates, "Ok … where exactly are you?" Ryan, "Where just pulling up to the barricades." Gates, "Ok … you're going to meet up with the Capitan." Looking at her paperwork … "A Capitan … Jason McBride. Now … I only informed him with little information. You guys fill him in on the rest. He should have the blue prints to the warehouse to get a better idea for a plan. Beckett and I should be there within the next 10 minutes. We have backup on the way." Ryan, "Yes sir." Ending her call with Ryan, Gates looks over at her detective who was in full focus on the road. Her hands were holding tight to the wheel, knuckles of pure white … Determination and love was all that she saw in her. Gates turned to her attention back to the file and Beckett was in her own train of thought … Castle.
Yonkers N.Y.
After his call with Gates, Ryan and Esposito meet up with the Capitan of the Yonkers P.D. Capitan Jason McBride. McBride and his team including the S.W.A.T. team were only 1,000 yards away from the abandoned warehouse. Approaching with their badges in hand, McBride introduced himself. "Good evening gentlemen. I'm Jason McBride … Capitan of the Yonkers Police Department. My team and I will be assisting you in the apprehension of Jerry Tyson." Espo, "Our Capitan said she only briefed you in on very little detail." McBride, "Correct … As far as I understand, Richard Castle is being held by 3XK. Since this is your case, my team and I will do whatever it is possible to get Mr. Castle back. What can you tell me so we know what to expect."
Ryan, "An approximate 47 hours ago, Jerry Tyson had Richard Castle kidnapped from an alleyway not too far from his home. DVD's were sent to the 12th to terrorize not only us but his partner Detective Beckett. He's playing some idiotic mind game giving us only 48 hours to figure things out. At this point, we don't have very much time. We know that he's armed and extremely dangerous." Espo, "Rick Castle is dying and if we don't figure out a plan ASAP, we going to lose him." McBride, "Understandable … we're gonna do this, carefully and discreetly. We will get him out safely."
Espo, "Ok … so what have we got right now?" McBride, "We've got all roads blocked, all ends of the warehouse closed off. I have every police officer on back roads ready to take action. I've have a map that has a better look at what we're dealing with. I also have the blue prints for the warehouse." Ryan and Espo follow as McBride heads over to his cruiser to obtain the map. As McBride was unfolding the map, Espo unrolled the blue prints. Pulling out their flashlights, McBride spoke, "Ok … we've got patrol right here, here and here." Ryan, "And … man this place is huge! Ok … from what we could distinctively gain from the videos, Castle was in a room and I'm just guessing here, in this section. It's huge and it's obviously our best bet." Looking at the prints, Espo speaks, "Ok so we'll carefully approach the building … enter discreetly with no vehicles in sight. For Castle." Ryan, "For Beckett."
Continuing to go over the plans, Gates and Beckett pulled up immediately parking and hoping out of the car. With their badges in hand, they were immediately let through the barricades. Gates, "Gentlemen!" All three men look up to find Beckett and Gates' approaching them. Ryan "Sir" Gates, "You must be Capitan McBride!" McBride walked around the boys and extended his hand, "And you must be Capitan Gates." Gates shakes his hand in return … Gates, "I am and this is our lead detective … Kate Beckett." Beckett extends her hand out as McBride shakes in return. Beckett, "So what have you got?" McBride, "We've got all roads block entering and exiting … no cruisers in site, officers are in calling range when you're ready." Ryan, "All areas are covered Beckett. We're ready when you are." Gates, "Kate … are you … are you ready?" Beckett, "Yes sir." Gates, "Alright … this is it. Here are your ear pieces. Keep us posted. You guys go in there and bring … Rick … home." McBride, "We'll be right behind. We have an ambulance on standby. They know the drill not to approach with sirens until we give them the signal." She checked her pistol, placed it in her hands, and then looked to the boys, "Let's go get that son of a bitch." Nodding their heads, they placed there pistols in hand … and followed Kate as they made their way to the warehouse.
Warehouse …
Tyson watched as Castle's life was just minutes away from a limp body strapped to a slab. Nothing intrigued him more … than to see the life of a man who ruined his … slowly waist away. It was his dream come true. He looked at his watch … smiled and walked over to Rick … who was slowly slipping in and out of consciousness … leaned in closely for him to hear, "You know Rick … I would've loved to have had your girl here … watching as I take your life away. Wait … she's actually on her way here with her detective friends. One way or another, I will have my revenge. But first, I want her to see you … to say her goodbyes and … well I think you know the rest." Smiling, he walked away into the darkness.
But before he was out of sight, Castle spoke in a shallow voice, "Smile all you want Tyson … but trust me … you're not getting away this time. I promise … you …" Castle went limp before he could finish his sentence. Tyson walked away … laughing.
Outside Warehouse …
Approaching the building … Kate, Ryan and Espo quietly walked alongside … carefully not to make any sudden noises. Kate, "You two go around back and I'll continue on here." Ryan, "Kate …" Beckett puts her hand up in protest … "Don't argue with me. I need you guys to take action and keep your eyes peeled. The sooner we get in there, the sooner we can get Rick out alive. I'll be fine." Espo, "Ok but you be careful. Call Gates once you spot anything." Kate, "You guys do the same."
Once they parted ways, Kate double checked her pistol, adjusted her vest and made her way around the perimeter, checking her peripheral vision. She came to a side door … a way inside of the warehouse. Reaching into her side pocket, she pulled out her flashlight and carefully made her way into the building.
Outside … Ryan and Espo …
Ryan and Espo walk alone side the building … checking through each window they came to. With the lights being completely out, it was kind of difficult to see where Castle was … trying not to alert Tyson and his men of their presents. Flashing his light in quickly, Espo spots the room he was in. The lights were dim but they could see just enough that it was definitely Rick.
Ryan, "Sir … Come in. Sir?" Gates, "What have you got Ryan?" Ryan, "We've got a visual on Castle. He's looks to be in the large room that we pointed out on the blue prints." Gates, "10 4 … get inside as quickly as you can. We're in sight waiting for your call." Ryan, "Copy." Espo, "There's a door right here. You ready?" Ryan, "Let's do this bro." With their lights in hand, the boys walked inside a very cold and dark warehouse.
Inside …
Beckett walked the long core-door looking around … with no sign of Tyson. Beckett, "Espo, Ryan … what's your 20?" Espo, "We're in … we spotted Castle. He's in a large room with dim lighting." Before she could respond, she came up to that large room Espo was talking about. As she continues, Espo kept calling her over the radio. Espo, "Beckett! … Beckett did you hear me?" Kate walks closer and in horror … her eyes spot a very limp … passed out Rick on the same metal slab she saw in the videos. Blood, bruises, broken bones … it was a nightmare she couldn't wake up from. She finally answered in a broken voice, "Espo, Ryan … I found him." Ryan, "Copy … we're on our way." She could hear Gates as well, "Beckett … we're approaching the perimeter." Kate, "Copy." She slowly walked up to him with tears running down her face, she checked for a pulse. It was weak but he was still alive. Kate, "Rick." Her broken voice was getting to her, "Rick … what have they done to you." He slowly steers awake to find his Kate by his side … he smiles with tears in his eyes, "Kate … I knew you'd come for me." Placing her hand gently on his cheek, Kate spoke, "Always."
Placing her pistol and flashlight at his side, she began to undo the belts when she heard the cocking of not one but two pistols from behind and clapping. Kate slowly turned to find Tyson and his men pointing their guns right at her. Tyson, "Well, well, well. Kate … you made it. Just in time for the party. Where's the rest of the gang? I'd love to say hello to Detective Ryan!" Nodding to his men, they walked over to Kate and apprehended her. As they began to tie her to a chair, Tyson continued, "You know Kate, it's been really fun. Having Rick here has been … well, enjoyable because torturing … was something that I'd been wanting to do since that day at the motel. He didn't give me much of a choice. He … made … me … do this. He wouldn't stop meddling into my business … his ways of putting the puzzle together. I had a plan … and he ruined it."
Kate, "It's our job to meddle when it comes to murder. Your sick game … it ends once my men barge through those doors." He gets closer, "We'll see about that. Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate … sweet Kate, I'd like to get down to business but … I'd rather have the entire party present. So here's what I'm going to do … I'll give you two a couple minutes alone while my men and I hunt for those brilliant detectives hiding in this very large warehouse." Tyson walks towards Castle … getting closer he whispers, "I'll be back. It'll all be over in no time." (Laughing) he and his men walk away.
Rick looks to Kate, who had tears running down her face. Seeing the terror in her eyes … so scared that this was the end of the road that she finally … finally said those three little words that have been lingering in her head for days. Kate, "Rick" in her broken voice, "No matter what happens … I just want you to know … I love you. I love so much." Smiling, he spoke in a weak, tired voice, "I … love … you too." Taking in a painful breath, he added "Always."
Rick continues to speak, "Kate … I want you to do me a favor. If I don't make it …" Kate, "Don't talk like that. Everything's going to be fine …" Rick, "Kate … please … I need you to listen." Kate nods, as he proceeds, "I've been lucky enough … to hang on … this long. Seeing you … again … to tell you how much … I love … you … that little speck of hope … I will forever be grateful." His voice was getting weaker, "You are … the best thing … that's ever happened … to me. I have never … loved anyone the … way that I … love you. Thank you … for putting up with my childish … behavior, my annoyance, my crazy … theories. But most of all … thank you … for loving … me." Tears continued to run down her face, "Kate … I want you to tell … my mother, Alexis … everyone that … I love them." He goes limp … Kate (crying), "Rick! Rick … stay with me! Please! Rick!"
In the Darkness … (Warehouse) …
As the boys were rushing carefully to Beckett, they heard loud footsteps approaching, a voice that appeared to be 3XK's. Tyson, "I want you both to split up. There's two of them and three of us. I want you to find them … NOW!"
Once out of sight, Ryan radioed Gates, "Sir, we're gonna need backup now. Tyson is in search of our presents." Gates, "Copy. What's the status on Castle?" Espo, "We're not sure yet sir. Kate's with him but we believe she's in trouble. If 3XK's looking for us … she's already been caught." Gates, "10 4 … we're moving in. The ambulance is on its way." Ryan, "Copy."
Espo, "We need to split up. That's the only way we're gonna get to Beckett faster." Ryan, "Ok … good luck to you bro and be careful." Espo, "Same to you." Nodding, they went their separate ways.
Backup Approaching …
As Gates, McBride, S.W.A.T. both the Yonkers and 12th approach the warehouse carefully. With every inch surrounded, it was time to take care of 3XK … once and for all.
McBride, "Esposito, Ryan … we've got the entire building surrounded. We're entering the building … stay low and alert." Espo, Ryan, "Copy"
That's the end of Chapter 6. A little cliff hanger! Hmmm … What do you think's gonna happen next? Chapter 7 is sure to be exciting as Castle's life is hanging by a thread, Kate tied to a chair with no way of helping him, Espo and Ryan have split up to keep Tyson and his men from finding them and Gates along with McBride and both precincts have completely surrounded the area, entering into a world of danger to bring down 3XK once and for all.
