Chapter Two: Hello Mother, Hello Father (I Am Not Your Athena)

Athena didn't know what to do and how to feel about seeing an alternate version of her parents. From what the trio told her and Monique, they were well... villains. Still, they were her parents. They were just... Evil.

Walking up and then getting trapped was not how she would have liked to see them. They freed themselves from the trap only to be brought in by the henchwomen to Drakken and Shego. Her mom looked ready to fight but looked visibly confused as did her dad when they noticed her and Monique.

"They need help," The other Athena said.

She could only stare at the alternate versions of her parents. At that moment, she missed her parents. Her dad probably knew about the failed mission and where she ended up. Both him and her mom were probably fixing the portal to get her and the others back home. She could feel the ice start to spread on her fingertips and she had to mentally count to ten. Her mom had reminded her to continue the exercises for her powers, Sasha knew what it was like to have your powers come up with her temper. Athena had inherited that temper of her mother. Her mother (well not her mother) looked at her and Monique. Athena was taught to never back down so, she held her chin up, stood straighter, and stared at her not-parents straight in the eye.

"I need your guys' help," Athena said to the two villains. "We need to find our Kim and bring her back. We also need to figure out the password for my mom's communicator." She brought out the communicator that connected to her mom's bodysuit belt.

Drakken and Shego both narrowed their eyes but obliged and somehow had a seize fire between the villains and Team Possible. Athena could say she relaxed after that but it was a blatant lie. She was anxious which was bad as her hands were threatening to freeze and to make the entire room a small blizzard of snow and frost. She tried to count but it was hopeless.

So, she began to hum the Battle Hymn of Women, a song that was a feminist song of the Battle Hymne of the Republic turned the lyrics over the years. Her mom had sung the song when she was teaching, making the song a recurring thing to hear in their house.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the flame of women's rage, kept smoldering for centuries, now burning in this age.

Someone cleared their throat and Athena realized everyone was staring at her. Feeling herself blush she relaxed when she knew her powers didn't show but they probably heard her humming.

"Which song is it this time?" Monique asked, her smile teasing her friend. "Let me guess? Just a Girl?"

Athena rolled her eyes. "Battle Hymn of Women," Athena said sheepishly.

Monique frowned and so did almost everyone. Athena looked at them, "D-do you not know of the Battle Hymn of Women?"

"None of us have a feminist, Women's and Gender Studies Professor for a mom, A," Monique stated at her with a raised eyebrow. Still, Athena huffed with her arms crossed, muttering about how the song needs to be taught more even in different dimensions. Monique shook her head and looked at the others in the room. "We can discuss that later."

"Shego is a professor?" Kim asked skeptically.

Athena looked defensive. She had always been defensive of her parents, her mom and dad had always tried to protect them from it but Athena could see and hear. Some death threats against her mom who began to help her sister, Winona to begin her run for Senator against Henry-their older brother. Not only that but racist things directed at herself, her mom had to be called down to the principal's office whenever her daughter got into her latest fight. Athena may look sweet but she could throw a good punch.

"She is," Athena said defensively, brown eyes could look like the ice of Antarctica. Kim said nothing after and Athena had to stop herself from doing anything foolish. She isn't our Kim... she didn't cause this.

"So where could doppelganger Kimmy be?" Shego said in a bored tone.

Athena and Monique shrugged. They had no clue where Kim and Ron could be or where they could be at this moment. They could anywhere in the world but if Monique and Athena landed in Middleton then Kim and Ron had to be there as well. It made sense.

"Somewhere in Middleton," Monique said coming to the same conclusion as Athena. "She and Ron have to be there, we just don't know where in Middleton."

"Something isn't adding up," Drakken said, eyes still narrowing at the two girls. "Why do you need our help? It sounds to me that if you four are a team, you would have found each other already. Unless... you are hunting her?"

The only thing Athena could think of was, shit!

The portal was still intact but as Drew could see, unstable.

"I'll go and find them," Sasha said already in her bodysuit, hair up in a ponytail and a backpack on. Drew didn't like this, not one bit but his wife was stubborn to get their kid and her protegee back as well as Kim and Ron. "Someone has to go there, it might as well be me."

Drew sighed but agreed. It did not mean he didn't like this plan. He turned on the portal and watched his wife walk calmly into the unknown.

He really hated this plan.

"So, your KP is... evil? No way! No way, KP is evil!" Ron said defensively.

"She isn't evil," Athena said. "She's just broken. That's all she is, a broken girl thinking she can change things here."Her mom and dad have told her that many times now, Kim wasn't evil... she's just a broken girl who hasn't properly grieved.

"Like what?" Kim asked concerned.

Athena and Monique exchanged a look. Both girls hesitated, they didn't want to delve into that mess of a story. "It's complicated. I don't remember it all because I was in cheer camp with Kim. God, it was a... massacre."

That did not ease anyone's minds but Athena didn't care. She just wanted to find the other two and get themselves all back to their dimension. That was all.

"What do you mean?" Ron asked but Athena or Monique did not elaborate. They wouldn't, they couldn't.

"So, you guys are hunting the other KP and her sidekick?" Shego said. Monique nodded. "Pretty much, yeah. Athena just needs to get into her mom's communicator and we can track them easily."

Athena had tried for a whole night to enter her mom's communicator but it was utterly useless. The communicator was tightly secured, it did not help that her dad had fixed up her mom's gadets so for Athena to break in-it would take a whole week.

A phone went off and Athena apologized as she got her phone out of her back pocket. She grimced and showed Monique the screen. Monique patted her friend's hand. Athena answered the phone.

"Hey dad," She said ignoring the others stares. "What's- Uh? She did what now? When? Why? Okay, I'll try and find her. Okay, thanks dad." She ended the call and stared at her friend. "My mom came through the portal."

Without missing a beat, Monique responded, "Welp, it was nice knowing you."

Athena glared at her. "At least, she'll be able to help-"

"After she's done yelling at you and sending your spirit down to hell." Monique said and Athena swatted her friend but failed to get her as she ducked to blow. "Should I start planning your funeral services? What songs do you want to play?"

"Monique!"

"What? I'm being honest here. Your mom is about to come here and drag you and Kim back, furious. You know how scary your mom can be and right now, she's probably ten times scary trying to find you."

Athena groaned and then called her mom. Two rings and Sasha Go's phone went to voicemail. Athena's heart sank. She hung up and called again, nothing. "She's not answering her phone." She must have looked terrified because Monique tried her best to aliviate her train of thoughts telling her that maybe her mom's phone was turned off or she was busy trying to find them to realize that Athena was calling her.

Athena could only hope.

A few hours later, two henchwomen had brought Sasha Go-Lipsky into the room where Athena was once again trying (and failing) to open the communicator. Monique was the first one to reach her, helping her out of the henchwomen's grips as Drakken told them to let the other woman go. Rubbing her wrists, Sasha could only look at everyone incrediously before hugging Monique.

"Where's Athena?"

"Over here," Monique said and took her over to where Athena was. Athena was glaring at the circular thing oblivious to the fact that her mom had arrived. Sasha cleared her throat making Athena look up. Her shoulders slumped as she handed the thing back to her mom.

"Hi mom," the teenager said weakly with an ever weak smile.

"Athena," came the clipped response from her mom. Sasha looked at the others with a calculating look of someone ready to take her enemies down. "You haven't cracked it yet?" It came out amusingly from Sasha. Athena glared at her. Sasha's grin just grew as she tapped on the communicator. A few seconds later everyone saw a map of Middleton with a blinking dot on it.

"What was the password!?" Athena said throwing her arms in the air. Monique just laughed.

"Never going to tell," was her mom's response as she began to zoom in on Kim's location.

They all saw where Kim was which was the Possible's own home. Athena and Monique grimaced but Sasha just had no emotion, eyes just staring at the dot.

"Why is she there?" The other Athena asked.

"She wants to play pretend." Was Sasha said, her tone was different almost full of pity. It was forigne to Team Possible to hear that from the other Shego. "She's not going to be happy with this."

Monique and Athena just looked at the map. "What are we going to do?"

Sasha shrugged. "We keep watch of her movements. That's all that we can do for now. If we move quickly, I don't even know what she'll do."

"So we wait?" Athena said with her arms crossed. "We let her win."

"It isn't about winning or losing Athena!" Her mom snapped at her. "You and I know how Kim is, how she acts if she's cornered. We can't allow that here. We keep an eye on her, lure her and spring the trap."

Athena wanted to argue but a look from her mom silenced her quickly.

Kimberly Ann Possible felt the world finally in her grasp. Her parents were alive. Her brothers were alive. She felt alive.

She wasn't going to leave, no matter how much Ron told her to do. She wasn't. Her family was alive. Its what she always wanted. They were here and she was home.
