A/N: Hey, guys! Welcome to my new fanfic! This will be my first movie-based fanfic, and I thought I'd start with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It's been eighty-five years since Walt Disney decided to make this movie, and at the time, everyone considered him crazy for his choice to make an animated feature, the first in color, since if the movie was a failure, his company would have gone bankrupt due to the budget, much higher than the shortsthat had been made so far. Fortunately, the film was a huge success, and Walt Disney, two years later, won a special Academy Award: a full-size statuette plus seven other smaller statuettes that correspond to the seven dwarfs. This story will be based on the final part of the film. Hope you enjoy it, and with that, let's get started!

Chapter 1: The Sleeping Death

From the window of the house of the seven dwarfs, Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey, some birds, rabbits, squirrels, deer, a turtle and other animals of the forest watched as Snow White let the witch who had tried to offer her a red apple. They immediately realized that something was wrong with her, since they recognized her: she was Queen Grimhilde(1), who wanted to kill her stepdaughter in order to be fairest in the land, so the young princess took refuge here, and the dwarves agreed to host her after she proposed to take care of their home. All the animals ran to the mines where the dwarves worked to warn them. Snow White didn't know that this witch was actually her stepmother in disguise.

The dwarves were ready to enter the mine when Doc, the eldest dwarf among his brothers and the leader of the group, saw all the birds and other animals trying to drag them by pulling their beards and clothes.

''What's wrong with these creatures?'' asked Doc, while a doe pushed him forward with her head.

''They all seem crazy!'' exclaimed the shy Bashful, clinging to a tree while a young stag almost ripped his pants, and Sneezy ended up sneezing, flinging away some rabbits and squirrels that pulled his jacket.

''Those animals are very agitated, I've never seen them like this!'' Happy said.

(''Destati- Kingdom Hearts OST'')

Sleepy yawned. ''I think they are trying to tell us that the Queen found Snow White.'' he said. Though he was always sleepy and rather lazy, he was quite perceptive.

The other six dwarves gasped in horror. ''The Queen! Snow White is in danger!'' they all shouted.

''She'll kill her! We gotta save her!'' Grumpy declared.

''S-S-Save- we gotta save her!'' stammered Doc, in a panic.(2) When he was agitated or nervous, he tended to speak wrong, and despite being the leader, he is weak under pressure, falling into panic attacks when he had to think of a plan, and in those cases, he leaves the role to Grumpy.

''We must do something!'' Sneezy shouted.

''Get on the deer! We have to save Snow White!'' Grumpy commanded. The dwarves thus climbed onto the deer, who ran as fast as possible, followed by the other animals as well. All the dwarfs had grown fond of Snow White, even Grumpy, who didn't want to admit it.

''Let's just hope it's not too late...'' Sleepy murmured.

A terrible storm began, and although it was only eleven in the morning, after a short time it felt like the dead of night.

After a couple of minutes of frantic running, the dwarves heard a shrill laugh. ''Now I'm the fairest in the land!'' It was the witch, right in front of the dwarves's cottage, right as they were coming. Enraged, Grumpy leapt from the stag he was riding and hit the witch with a flying kick in the face that knocked her over. ''If I find out you've done something terrible to Snow White, I'll kill ya, you ugly witch!'' he threatened, headbutting her.

The other dwarves also came down from the deer to help their brother, and all the animals stopped. Doc hit the witch with two punches on the nose. ''Hands off of Snow White, you monster!'' Bashful yelled, driven by an atypical anger, rushing courageously to the charge and hitting Grimhilde in the stomach with his knee, making her flinch. Although shy, he wanted to make it clear to the hag that you can't mess with the seven dwarfs. Sleepy joined them by hitting her in the back with his pickaxe. Like Bashful, an enraged Happy lunged at her with all his body weight and then stomped her back, while Sneezy hit her with an uppercut on her chin. Even Dopey was overcome with anger, and repeatedly hit her with his club. The wind and rain were so strong that it seemed that even nature was unleashing its wrath, mixed with the dwarfs's.

The witch, despite all those blows and her apparent age, moved really fast, and all the dwarves climbed back onto the deer to chase her. ''Attack, brothers! Let's get her!'' Grumpy shouted. Two vultures who had been spying on the queen since she was about to arrive at the dwarfs' cottage followed her into a mountainous cliff, while the dwarfs dismounted the deer again to climb it.

Upon reaching the top, the queen realized she was trapped, and the rain and wind grew stronger and stronger, while the vultures were on the branch just above her. The dwarves were close by now, determined to make her pay, but she didn't give up. ''I'll fix ya, I'll crush your bones!'' she yelled, trying to push a boulder to roll it over the dwarves and kill them, as the two vultures stared at her.

''Look out! Take cover!'' Grumpy warned, when all the dwarves reached the top. The boulder seemed to be about to fall towards them, and they had no escape but to jump off, but they could be seriously injured or die from a bad fall. Bashful, frightened, screamed and clung tightly to Happy. Knowing that their death was near, Doc, Sleepy and Dopey closed their eyes, waiting for the boulder to crush them, reducing their bodies to a pulp of crushed bones and making their blood spurt out.

*ATCHOOOOOOO!*

Everyone was surprised by what they heard, and when they opened their eyes, they saw something that shocked them. Sneezy had jumped and let out a sneeze with the force of a cyclone unleashed by a certain god.(3) The wind was pushing the boulder towards them, but the force of the sneeze was holding it back. In fact, it seemed to back away slightly, until it got to the point where it wouldn't fall towards them.

''Sneezy!'' exclaimed Doc.

''I've never seen such a powerful sneeze.'' said Sleepy.

''Yes! Get her, Sneezy!'' Bashful cried out.

Sneezy's sneeze continued for a few more seconds until the dwarf's face turned red, then he fell to the ground, exhausted. The Evil Queen was giggling madly, and another unexpected thing happened. A lightning bolt struck the cliff on the spot where the witch was standing, making her lose balance and fall, then the boulder crushed her, killing her.

(''Destati- Kingdom Hearts OST-s'')

Worn out from the force he had put into that sneeze, Sneezy felt short of breath and coughed heavily.

''Sneezy, are you ok?'' asked Doc, a little worried.

''Yeah, I'm fine. I just need to catch my breath.'' his brother replied.

''I don't like to admit it, but this time, your sneeze actually did something useful. You saved our lives, so, thanks.'' Grumpy said.

''What? Really?'' Sneezy asked.

''Yeah. That boulder was about to crush us, and your sneeze made it back off. You were really good, you know.'' Happy complimented.

''Thanks, guys.'' Sneezy murmured. He did not expect these reactions. His sneezing tended to cause problems, as sometimes even he could not predict and control them.

Everyone looked beneath theme and saw the witch's battered body, as the vultures began to devour her. ''Let's go home, brothers. We need to check if Snow White is okay.'' said Doc, and everyone nodded.

When the dwarves returned home, they hesitated a little to enter. ''I have a bad feeling about this.'' Bashful said.

Dopey decided to go in first, but when he entered the kitchen and his eyes adjusted to the low light due to heavy rain, he saw something horrible and let out a scream of fright so loud and high-pitched that it sounded like a screeching bird, forcing everyone to cover their ears, then he rushed to the others immediately.

''I think my eardrums are broken...'' Sleepy murmured, dizzy.

''Dopey! What happened? Is something wrong?'' asked Doc, concerned. Dopey, by far the youngest of his siblings, did not know if he could speak, since he had never tried to, expressing himself with gestures.(4) Everyone was concerned, as he was breathing heavily and gesticulating frantically, as if he was in a panic attack.

''I don't like the sound of that...'' said Sneezy.

As they approached the table, the dwarves realized what Dopey had seen. ''Snow White!'' they screamed, horrified. Snow White lay on the ground, and next to her body, a bitten red apple.

''Oh, no! We're too late!'' Doc cried out.

Grumpy took the apple and examined it to see if it was suspicious. He smelled it and smelled a terrible smell that reminded him of toxic waste dumps. ''I knew it! Black magic! This apple is poisoned!'' he exclaimed, kicking the apple and making it splash against the opposite side of the house, but when it hit the wall, it didn't squash or scatter pulp like the other apples, but it disappeared, it was enveloped in small sparks.

''Let's take her upstairs!'' suggested Sleepy, and the dwarves, being careful not to trip, took Snow White into the bedroom upstairs and placed her on a bed they had made for her a few days ago(5), also lighting some candles. Although they had decided to give her their beds so that by joining them together, she could sleep comfortably (the first time they met her, she was sleeping on three beds), they weren't sure they could support her weight, and Sleepy, who had proposed the idea, thought that a bed of her own would be even better, and so they agreed, moving their beds to the sides of the room, while the bed for Snow White was placed in the center.

(''Environmental Shock- Metroid Fusion OST-s'')

Grumpy was the first to check on the young princess, and shook her, hoping that she would wake up. ''Snow White, are you alright? Come on, say something!'' he shouted.

Happy raised Snow White's head slightly, but it fell back into the same position as before. Now he was getting more and more nervous, and this extended to his brothers as well, as he was the one keeping the morale of the group high. Sneezy put a finger on her wrist, but flinched. ''Her skin is cold!'' he exclaimed.

Bashful put a hand on the princess's cheek, and realized that Sneezy was right. Snow White's skin was white as snow, but this time, it looked too pale, even for her, and it was cold to the touch. ''You're right, Sneezy! She's cold as ice!'' he said.

The dwarves continued their attempts to revive her. ''Princess, don't leave us!'' cried Doc, as he put his ear on her heart, but he didn't hear any heartbeat.

Sleepy, no matter how hard he tried, could not feel a pulse on her wrist. ''She's not breathing!'' he exclaimed.

(''Chorale for Snow White- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs OST'')

Unable to stand upright, the dwarves knelt in front of the bed and took off their hats, all starting to sob, believing that Snow White was lost forever. Grumpy, who was standing behind a chair, felt something he had never felt before.

''No...! this isn't happening... tell me it's just a bad dream...'' Happy murmured, the first to collapse. Tears started pouring from his eyes and running down his face as he sobbed, and now, ''Happy'' was just his name. That dwarf who, as his name implied, always kept the morale of the others high with his often contagious optimism and cheerfulness, was crying, and with him, the other six dwarves collapsed in utter despair.

Sneezy sobbed desperately, and in addition to tears, snot dripped from his nose. ''She didn't deserve such a death at all...'' he murmured.

Bashful was crying loudly, torn with grief. He hated stories with a tragic ending, they always broke his heart, and what happened to Snow White was too much to bear. ''No... why? Why her?'' he whimpered, desperately hugging Sneezy and Sleepy and crying on their shoulders.

''She sounds like she was just sleeping...'' whispered Sleepy, but the thought did not cheer him up.

Grumpy thought back to his interactions with the girl. He hadn't been very fair to her, but he knew more about her stepmother's bad reputation than they did. All seven of them knew that Grimhilde had a very bad reputation, but he was the only one who suspected she was a witch and used black magic, and the poisoned apple was proof that he was right. He had never admitted that he was fond of Snow White, but the fact that he had guided his brothers to save her proved it, and he was only starting to admit it now. He regretted the way he had treated her, and wondered how she had tolerated his bad temper. ''I'm sorry, Snow White... if only I had been kinder to you...'' he thought, sobbing in his hands. The last time they talked to each other was that morning when the dwarfs had to go to work in the mine, warning her about the Evil Queen, and she gave each of them a kiss on the forehead. He too had warned her, telling her not to let anyone into the house, and the princess had realized that he too cared for her, albeit in his own way. All of this made him feel worse, and he was so ashamed that he couldn't even look at the others anymore.

Poor Dopey, devastated, sobbed inconsolably on Doc's shoulder. Doc himself was silently crying, and he didn't know what to do but give him a hug to try to comfort him. The animals of the forest watched everything from the window, also mourning the loss of their friend. They had done what they could by warning the dwarfs, but they had come too late to save her.

The dwarfs knelt crying for several minutes, and Grumpy went downstairs, heading for the kitchen. Some chipmunks and birds had come inside, and they showed him something in front of the kitchen window. The dwarf felt a pang in his heart, recognizing what was on the windowsill. It was a gooseberry pie. All the seven dwarfs loved the gooseberry pie, it was one of their favorite foods, and when Snow White, on their first meeting, said she would take care of the house for them while they were at work, including cooking the gooseberry pie, the dwarves wanted her to stay, and agreed to take her in. Looking better at the dessert, he felt even worse. His name was written on the pie, which meant that when Grumpy and the others were off to work, the princess was making one just for him. Apparently, she knew that beneath that hard shell that was his bad attitude, he was kindhearted, even though he didn't show it. Another detail was that the pie itself was almost ready, but it had a white color, indicating that it was not baked, which meant that the witch had arrived just as Snow White was about to bake it. After putting the pie down on the table, he began to sob once more.

Someone came down the stairs. It was Happy. ''Grumpy? Is everything alright?'' he asked in concern.

Grumpy didn't answer and motioned at the gooseberry pie. ''Oh, my. I feel sorry for you...'' the burliest dwarf whispered.

"If only I hadn't been so mean to her... Oh, Happy, this all my fault.'' sobbed Grumpy.

''It's not your fault. The witch would have succeeded in her intent anyway.'' Happy replied, trying to comfort him.

''I know. It's just... I couldn't save her. We were too late, and now we lost her forever. I regret doing this to her. I don't know if you guys or Snow White will forgive me for what I've done.''

''Your name is written on that pie, Grumpy. I'm sure if she had known, Snow White would have forgiven you. She teased you about it sometimes, and if she made this pie for you, I think she knew you cared about her, even if you didn't openly admit it.''

Grumpy felt his legs as heavy as pieces of lead and fell to the ground, crying on Happy's chest, which took him by surprise: he had never seen him so upset before. Soon after, the other dwarfs also arrived.

''How's Grumpy?'' asked Doc.

''He's very distraught. He found a gooseberry pie that Snow White was preparing for him before the arrival of the Evil Queen, and he feels very guilty.'' Happy replied.

''You miss her, don't you?'' asked Sneezy.

Grumpy nodded in response. ''Yes. And to think that I never admitted that I cared about her, and when I did, it was already too late. I wasn't very fair to her, and now I'm ashamed to even show my face. No offense, Bashful.''

''It's alright, Grumpy.'' Bashful answered.

''We all need comfort.'' said Sleepy.

''You mean...?'' Grumpy began.

''No, we are not mad at you. Happy was worried when he noticed that you had left the bedroom, and he wanted to check how you were.'' Sneezy replied.

''You can't go through it all alone, Grumpy. We're with you.'' added Doc wisely, hugging Grumpy, with Dopey on his right.

''Doc is right. We are all upset, but we will overcome it together.'' Happy said, joining the group hug from the left side and Bashful stood between him and Sneezy. Sleepy then completed the circle positioning himself between Sneezy and Dopey.

''Thanks, guys.'' Grumpy murmured.

(''Running Through the Plains- Sonic '06 OST-s'')

''Come to think of it, we haven't had lunch yet. Shall we eat that gooseberry pie for lunch?'' proposed Doc, and everyone accepted.

Since the pie itself was finished, it just needed to be baked. Dopey put the dessert in the oven while the others set the table. When the pie was ready, Sneezy cut it into seven slices of the same size so that everyone has their portion. As much as they loved the dessert, it wasn't what they thought of, and they ate very slowly, lost in thought and not at all focused on that delicious smell. Their thoughts were all on Snow White, and they remembered dinner on their first night together. That evening, he had made soup for them, and during the meal, they ate so fast that they seemed starving, and the princess couldn't hold back her laughter, especially when Sleepy explained that it had been quite a while since the last time they had had a decent meal. They also remembered those songs she sang in the evening. She managed to be authoritative without losing that pure heart that characterized her, and at times, the roles of authority switched between her and the dwarfs, Doc in particular, who already had authority over the other dwarves as their leader. Once they finished, they decided to watch over Snow White and see what to do. They remembered all the moments spent with her with a great nostalgia, and now, they had lost a friend.

A/N: Sad scene, huh? For this story, I have already planned everything. It will be divided into nine chapters, one at the beginning and one at the end based on the events of the movie, with seven intermission chapters from the perspective of each of the seven dwarfs. I hope you enjoyed this story and I'll see you in the next chapter! See you soon!

(1): The Evil Queen has no name in the film, but in the comic book adaptation released in 1937, the same year as the movie, she is given the name Grimhilde.

(2): Doc is voiced by Roy Atwell, a comedian who specializes in stammering speech, and by lending him his voice, he gave him the characteristic of misspelling words.

(3): In Italian, Sneezy is named after the god of winds from Greek mythology, Aeolus. Sneezy's sneezes, often uncontrollable and unpredictable, are very powerful, and his voice actor, Billy Gilbert, like Roy Atwell, is a comedian, and in comedies, he was known for his exaggerated sneezing.

(4): In the film, Dopey was initially supposed to be voiced by Mel Blanc, the Man of a Thousand Voices, but was rendered mute because Disney couldn't find a suitable voice for him. Despite this, he still emits hiccups and screams, but they are made by different voice actors: most of Dopey's vocal sounds, including his scream of terror, are voiced by Eddie Collins, who is therefore recognized as his ''voice actor'', but his hiccups are recorded by Pinto Colvig, who also voiced Grumpy and Sleepy, and some other vocal sounds are recorded by Jimmy MacDonald.

(5): In a deleted and partially animated scene, the dwarves gathered to decide on a gift for Snow White and Sleepy's proposal prevailed: a bed just for her. That bed then appears in a scene towards the end.
