A/N: Hey, guys! In the previous chapter, the dwarves chased after the witch, who then fell to her death from lightning. But when they got home, it was too late to save Snow White, who now they think she is dead. This chapter and the next six will be from the point of view of each of the seven dwarfs, and I will take turns according to their order in the row: Doc will be the first, then Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy and finally, Dopey. Let's begin!

Chapter 2: Doc: Total Helplessness

-Doc's POV-

(''Treasured Memories- Kingdom Hearts OST'')

After what happened to the princess, we weren't thinking anything else almost all the time. Knowing that Snow White would have wanted us not to leave the house in the neglect in which she had found it when she took refuge here, I decided that since we and the days of the week are seven, will work shifts in certain household chores and working in the mines every day. In the mine, I remind you, Happy, Grumpy, Bashful and Sneezy recovered the diamonds and passed them to Sleepy, who transported them on a mine cart, then passed them to me, and I checked if they were good, and the broken or worthless oneswere discarded by Dopey. Tomorrow was Tuesday, and Sleepy offered to work the shift in the mine on Tuesday, and I accepted. I decided that on Tuesday, I would do the dusting, Grumpy would wash the windows, Happy would wash the dishes, Bashful would do the laundry, Dopey would make the beds and Sneezy would lay the table. I also decided that Sneezy would never take the shift to do the dusting. While his intentions were good, everyone knew that all this dust would be too much for his sensitive nose to bear.

''Are you sure we should do all of this?'' Grumpy asked.

''I think that's what she wants.'' I replied.

Since we found Snow White dead, we've changed. I gave everyone the directions on the shifts, but when we finished the housework, we could think of nothing but her. We were all wracked with grief, and I felt more and more insecure as I no longer knew what to do to help them.

Grumpy, filled with guilt over how he had treated Snow White before her death, muttered apologies, couldn't sleep much, and often isolated himself from us. For once, he was no longer so irritated by Sneezy's nasal explosions, Sleepy's drowsiness, Bashful's shyness or Dopey's scenes or doubted my leadership. He was clearly one of those who suffered the most.

Sleepy began to suffer from insomnia: during the night, he was almost not able to sleep anymore, and when he fell asleep, he cried in his sleep and wetted his pillow and part of the blanket of his bed, and when he could not sleep, it was a problem. Due to the lack of sleep, bags appeared under his eyes, which were bloodshot from crying, while Sneezy did not even have the strength to sneeze, and snot dripped copiously along with his tears.

Bashful and Dopey were the most openly upset, poor guys, and it broke my heart to see them like this. Judging by his agony, Bashful was as desperate as a man who had just lost his whole family. He cried loudly, and more often than not, even in his sleep. His face, which he sometimes covered with his beard in a desperate attempt to hold back his tears, was all red, not so much from his shyness, but from all those times he burst into tears. Aside from Dopey, he was the one who loved Snow White the most. Speaking of Dopey, he couldn't take his eyes off of Snow White, cried like a baby despite being an adult like us, and often, during the night, had nightmares about the Evil Queen and Snow White's fate. When that happened and he woke up with a start, he screamed so loud that he woke us up too. Also, he needed company, so one of us had to stand by him to offer him support.

Finally, Happy tried to support us emotionally, but after less than a week, he couldn't do it anymore. He was no longer the cheerful and optimistic dwarf we knew: on the contrary, he always seemed very sad and depressed, and often gritted his teeth to try not to cry, unsuccessfully.

In the house, therefore, only tears and sobs could be heard. I felt awful to see my brothers in this state, but what could I do? Naught. Nada (nothing, in Spanish). At times, in discouragement, I would cry too, and I even began to question my leadership. All this pressure I had on me made me more and more stressed over the days, but if I had a nervous breakdown, I tried to hide it from others. We were all victims of that terrible tragedy, and I didn't want to delude them by ignoring the reality, not in this period, or they could be disappointed or angry with me.

A week later, the others and I gave up working in the mine, we thought it was not worth being so far away from the princess. Everything that did wasn't about her had become indifferent to us. I thought of what Grumpy had said about the apple the witch had made Snow White eat. He realized that the apple was poisoned, so when I finished the shift for housework, I spent the days checking all the books we had searching for clues. I had good medical knowledge, and they called me Doc for this. On Saturday afternoon of that same week, after I finished washing the windows, I took all the medical books I had, read them for hours and hours, and checked the poisons and antidotes pages on every single book, but couldn't find nothing about a poisoned apple. I couldn't find information or clues to solve the problem and I was unable to help my brothers. I let out a yell of frustration, creased the cover of the book I was holding and dropped my glasses, almost breaking them. Being nearsighted, without my glasses, I can't see well and have blurred vision, but that wasn't my main concern. The more time passed without finding clues, the more my nervousness grew.

Someone put a hand on my shoulder. To my surprise, it was Grumpy. ''What's going on? We heard you yelling.'' he asked, worried.

''I didn't expect your arrival, Grumpy.'' I told him. ''I was thinking about what you said about that apple. You knew it was a poisoned apple, and I'm spending days looking for information about it in all the poison and antidote books, but I couldn't find anything.''

Grumpy didn't know what to say. Happy was now unrecognizable, and without his cheerfulness and optimism, it was up to him to keep us at bay to prevent us from doing something stupid, but he knew that he wasn't a good substitute, thinking that the more appropriate substitutes were Sneezy and Bashful, as the both knew how it felt to be embarrassed, and he believed that apart from Happy, they could comfort the others, but they were both too devastated, especially Bashful. He admitted that when Snow White was in danger, he had learned to appreciate both us and her better.

''Is it me or the role of authority swaps between me and the princess?'' I asked.

My brother was a bit confused. ''What do you mean by that?''

''Well, I'm your leader and your eldest brother, and there is no question of that. However, I seem to have noticed that sometimes it is me and others who have authority over her, and in other cases, it's the other way around. Do you remember when we eat? She always wanted us to wash our hands before eating. Instead, sometimes, like when we warned her about the Evil Queen, we were the ones who had authority over her.'' I replied.

''Now that I think about it, she has some authority over us. She also guided the various animals to clean our house when she first entered there, and on that occasion, seeing the small size of our furniture, she thought we were orphaned children.'' said Grumpy. ''Exactly, how old is she, fourteen?'' he then asked.

''Yes, she's fourteen years old.(1)'' I replied. The age of the young princess made me feel even worse. She was just a teenager, and a girl as young, beautiful and kind as she was, who made many friends in the animals of the forest, who she even led to tidy up our house when she saw it so untidy.

''Not even I would be so unfeeling to kill her! Sure, I didn't saw her favorably at first, but I would never do something so despicable! Only a heartless being could do that ignoble deed!'' exclaimed my brother, and I agreed. Ever since Snow White died, he openly admitted how fond he was of her. When he had warned her, there were already small signs of it, and when he guided us to save her, it was clearer, but now, he no longer hid how much he loved her and all of us, and openly embraced these feelings. We were happy about it, but it was only a small consolation.

Five minutes later, Happy and the others arrived. ''Brothers, I don't know what to do anymore. I feel I have let you all down. I've never felt so helpless in my life.'' I said sadly.

''That's not true. We don't know what to do either.'' Grumpy replied, and Dopey nodded to show he agreed with him.

''Snow White meant a lot to us.'' Sneezy added. He was right. She was a good friend, almost like a sister to us, she took care of our home, which she warmed with her care, and at times, she seemed like a mother towards us, caring but at the same time strict when it was needed.

''Gawrsh, what do we do, Doc?(2)'' asked Sleepy.

''I don't know. It's been almost two weeks and I can't solve any of our problems. For this reason, I have even begun to question my leadership. If only Happy wasn't so depressed, we will be more hopeful. Instead, he can't help us anymore, he is unrecognizable. I also tried to hide my frustration from you guys because I didn't want to give you false hopes, not when the princess is dead.'' I replied.

''It's not your fault, Doc. Not yours, or anyone else's but that horrible witch.'' Sneezy told me.

As much as I appreciated what they said, it didn't change much. ''Doc has a point, guys.'' Happy replied, a sentence that surprised everyone. ''No, don't get the wrong idea. Seriously, my name is Happy, and usually I'm the glue that holds the group together and raises your spirits, guys, but now I'm so depressed that I can't help you guys anymore and I'm not even myself anymore. Bashful and Sneezy sometimes take my role when I can't, but we're all too devastated by our sorrow. This is a hard lesson I learned about life when we found Snow White's body. Sometimes, life is cruel, and there are things that no matter how hard we try, we can't change, so we have to face the facts.'' he explained sadly.

Unfortunately, Happy was right, and there was nothing I could do about it. None of us could, and because of those words, we started crying for the umpteenth time. I looked at Snow White, still on her bed. Although she had been dead for more than ten days, her rosy cheeks had not lost their color, nor had her white skin. She hadn't changed at all. ''Speaking of Snow White, she's too beautiful to bury her underground, it pains me. Let's build a coffin for her, what do you think?'' I asked, through tears.

''I agree.'' Bashful said.

''Me too.'' said Sleepy.

''Me three.'' Sneezy added.

''We all agree.'' Grumpy said.

(''To Zanarkand- Final Fantasy X OST-s'')

So, the next day, we built a coffin of glass and gold for Snow White. We thought it was better to lay her on a precious coffin like this one than bury her. To do this, we went to the mine to retrieve the gems and materials needed to build it, taking all day to do it. At sunset, we took the coffin with Snow White's body outside and took it to a clearing in the woods not far from our house. The place became a kind of pilgrimage, since every morning we went there to bring flowers around the coffin, and with us the animals of the forest did too. Rabbits, birds, squirrels, deer, quail, raccoons(3), a turtle and all the little animals were there with us, always outside the house, and sometimes even inside. We had decided to spend the rest of our days watching over her.

A/N: We have seen Doc's point of view He feels helpless as never before, unable to help his dwarf brothers, nor to find clues on how to break the curse of the Sleeping Death. In the next chapter, we'll look at Grumpy's point of view. See you soon!

(1): Although not specified in the film, according to Disney figures, Snow White is the youngest Disney Princess: she is only 14 years old. Furthermore, since the story is written by the Grimm Brothers, Germans, it is set in Germany, more precisely in Lohr, a village near Frankfurt on the banks of the river Main, and in Germany, the age of consent is of 14 years.

(2): A reference to the voice actor: ''Gawrsh'' is a quote said by Goofy, voiced by Pinto Colvig from his debut in 1932 to 1939, when he temporarily left the studio after an argument with Walt Disney, and then again from 1941 until his death in 1967. In the movie, Colvig voiced Grumpy and Sleepy and, in a 1941 short film featuring the Seven Dwarfs as the protagonists, he voiced Doc. Bill Farmer, the current voice of Goofy since 1987, has also voiced Sleepy since 1994, and in the The 7D animated series, he lends his voice to Doc instead, while Sleepy is voiced by Stephen Stanton, who voices Happy since 2007.

(3): The natural habitat of raccoons is Central and North America, but they have also been introduced in Europe, particularly in Germany and France, in Japan and in the Caucasus.
