"I believe you" Lena said finally. Kara tilted her head in surprise. Not that she didn't like what she was hearing, she just didn't expect Lena to believe anything she said. It felt like a victory just talking to her. Kara wanted to tell Lena she loved her and that she never wanted to be away from her ever again but she didn't want to push too strong. Not yet. Besides, it wasn't at all clear what Lena felt for Kara - maybe she wouldn't hate her forever, but not hate someone and love someone still isn't the same. Lena noticed Kara getting lost in her thoughts again and grabbed the hand that was still holding on to her chin. She held the hand and put it down, not letting go of it.

"How about we go take a coffee and talk? I would like to hear your story" she offered. Kara nodded thankfully. It felt so good to hear Lena's voice like it was before and not with the cold and unemotional sound to it. The birds chirped still so loudly. Kara remembered when she first came to earth, she was so afraid of them. Birds didn't exist on Krypton and it took her a while to believe her human family that the flying creatures didn't mean any harm. That was also the first thing she told Lena as they sat down in 'el café de José'. Lena even smiled and Kara felt Lena watch her. Kara had a hard time trying to figure out her company's intentions or feelings. She didn't know how it was possible Lena really talked to her.

"No birds on Krypton...has it been very quiet in the woods?"

"It was really quiet when you went far enough, so you couldn't hear the traffic and the aircrafts or people" Kara answered and remembered being there as a child.

"You know I used to hide out in the woods sometimes. My parents and I, we did picnics with my aunt and when the grown-ups started to talk about work or else I always got bored and went on adventurous trips. It was so quiet sometimes, when I sat down and listened - to silence" Kara told Lena almost dreamy.

"You were just...normal" Lena said and looked at Kara's body.

"No superpowers, no vast packages to carry...just like everyone else" she added.

"And now you're here, with natural solar cells that allow you to process solar energy in your body. You're a biological masterpiece. And yet you walk around full of fear, why is that?"

"I mean, thank you, and it's hard to explain. When I - had to leave" Kara tried to explain, but still after all these years it was hard to talk about the destruction of her planet. How she watched it burst into flames from her pot. The expectations she carried.

"I always had to be responsible. They sent me to look after my cousin, they sent me. I had to deserve this chance. So when I came to Alex' family, Jeremiah told me to be careful, never expose myself, to lay low and never pull attention on me. He told me they would lock me up, experiment on me... whatever. I was taught to be careful and anxious and it was for the better the most part of my life here...until it wasn't." Kara sighed. Lena bit her lower lip. "I understand the reasons for you keeping your other identity hidden. Nonetheless there weren't any comprehensible reasons to hide it from me. I heard you, I get that you didn't want to lose anyone else - but did you really believe I would distance myself from you because of it? You have to see this from my perspective: I see a Super not trusting a Luthor with their secret..."

"That's- that was never the case, Lena. You should know that I never saw you as a Luthor this way! I was on your side whenever people turned to you and screamed 'Luthor' every time something bad was happening. I trusted you more than I trusted anyone else, except for Alex maybe...but even with her - I was more honest with you for the most part. And I know there were no reasons really and that I was a coward and selfish and not logical...but with you it's easy to get overwhelmed for me" Kara tried her best to explain her thoughts.

"Overwhelmed? I need further explanation" Lena demanded as if she suspected it as an offense. There she was, suspicious of her again. Kara sighed again.

"This was in no means an offense. I admire you Lena. I get overwhelmed because you are so...huge and, I don't know how to explain it, brilliant" Kara admitted.'Also super hot and too alluringto concentrateat times...' she addedinher mind. Lena looked at her in surprise.

"I didn't know you thought so much of me."

"Of course I do" 'I love you' Kara added in her head again. Lena smiled a little and Kara counted it a victory.

Lena tried hard to surpress the blush she felt coming when she heard Kara speak so nicely of her. It's not as if she had forgiven Kara, but when Kara talked so honestly about her loss, she knew she had to listen to her. Kara was sincere and being too stubborn and proud doesn't get you anywhere in life. Also, in movies or books, if two were fighting or whatever it needed one of them to almost die or something like that so that they could finally reconcile. Lena didn't want any of them to be endangered first so that they would talk. It didn't mean that afterwards everything was alright. It didn't mean she could trust Kara again. It meant being mature eventually. Also she couldn't deny all the feelings she still had for the woman. The woman who didn't trust her, betrayed her and broke her heart. Yeah, it wasn't easy sitting next to the person who made her insides feel empty for a long time, who made her cry and drink during the day. Kara was like the poison and the cure for her. She felt bad because of her but she needed her whenever she felt like everything was falling apart. Lena smiled a little. After all she had never been happier than when she was with Kara. That's why the thought of it all being a lie was so deeply hurtful. She watched the alien move, her beautiful face and the deep blue eyes. She had so much charisma, was a ray of sunshine and made people around her feel safe. Lena always felt safe with Kara even before she knew about how much Kara was capable of protecting her.

"It is sometimes quite easy to forget that you - Supergirl - are an alien. Better a refugee. Perhaps we are so used to seeing you as a hero that we don't see the person through that."

"What changed that? I mean when did you come to realize that I was -in fact - an alien?"

"Do you remember the riots and the demonstrations of aliens and the fanatics? At first you were just flying over them, overseeing and looking out for dangers or violence - but then you wore that robe and simply marched with the aliens and presented yourself as Kara Zor-El - which is, I believe, the moment I first really saw you as a Kryptonian. I was really touched by that" Lena told her pretty friend.

"I appreciate that, Lena" Kara said and touched Lena's hand. Lena pulled it away immediately out of reflex. But after seeing Kara's hurt look in her face she grabbed her hand. "This was entirely out of reflex" she explained which made Kara's face relax. 'There won't be a time I don't enjoy your touch' Lena thought.

Kara then cleared her throat.

"Do you think...that you will be able to forgive me one day?" she asked finally.

Kara was scared of the answer. She needed to know but she couldn't handle a 'no'.

Lena sighed. The expression on her face revealed that she was in her thoughts.

"I believe that, one day, I will" she answered after a moment that felt like eternity to Kara. Kara let out a breath she didn't know that she was holding. She was more than happy to hear that. She felt so relieved and hopeful.

"Does that mean...that we can be friends again?"

"I will need more time for that, Kara. I will have to be able to trust you again."

"And I will try to give you all the reasons to do so" Kara announced and smiled. She saw how Lena lowered her head and focused her eyes on the coffee in front of her. Kara loved watching the beautiful woman move and she was amazed with every beat of her heart. She wondered how she could have surpressed the strong feelings she had for her for so long. Now that she was true to herself she could one day be true to Lena, too.

After they parted their ways after coffee, Lena excused herself for having work to do, Kara decided to go for a walk. She felt a million times lighter. Lena and her could be friends again, maybe, probably. She walked past a shopping mile, parks and hotels. She didn't even know where she was staying - if she was staying. So when the day went by and night began Kara took off from a hidden spot and flew to a building which provided a good view over the city. She sat down on its roof and watched the lights.

"Lights that are far away seem to blink, don't they?" someone behind her suddenly asked. Kara whirled around in shock to face a handsome man. She noticed he had an accent.

"They do" she agreed, ready to fight if there was the need to.

"I hope I didn't scare you" the man said and held his hands up, showing he was unarmed as he obviously noticed Kara's state of precaution.

"How did you even get up here? I didn't see you walk past me" he then asked.

"Oh, I sneaked up because I was afraid I wasn't allowed to go up here. I can be very...quiet" Kara answered.

"Don't worry about if it's allowed or not. I appreciate the city at night and so should you" he told her trying to take the tension out of the encounter.

"How did you know I only spoke English?" Kara questioned suspiciously.

"I- I didn't haha, I just don't know Spanish myself either."

"Where are you from?" Kara continued the interrogation.

"Serbia. You're American right?"

'Kryptonian, but somehow yeah' "Yeah. Serbia... what brings you to Valencia?"

"What brought you here?" he countered, slightly displeased by the obvious suspicions Kara held for him.

"My friend"

"For me it was my sister" he finally answered. "Do you mind if I join you for the view?"

"I don't" Kara answered shortly.

Lena sat in a chair on her balcony. The city lights were beautiful and the view of the ocean made her realize finally where she was. The stars upon her didn't look the same as they did back in National City. She breathed in the fresh air that was still quite warm and enjoyed her surroundings. Lena loved views which is part of the reason she chose the tall building for L-Corp in National City. After a while she put on some music and took the bottle of wine out of her minifreezer. It was Senidah - belo. She thought of Kara and their encounter that day. She thought of Kris and their wonderful time in Belgrade. She wondered what he was doing right now and where he was. If he was alright. She never could have suspected that he was right in this moment meeting her reason not stay in Belgrade with him...

Hey my loyal readers :) I am so sorry this took so long - I was actually already finished right after publishing chapter 9 but then I changed some things and some things became kind if the whole chapter. Also I recently switched countries again for visiting family and that took a lot of my thoughts too. Hope you're as excited as I am for what's next!
