A/N: Hello! Happy weekend! It is time for day two of the Wendell and Lilly spa outing.

Thank you Kareneb and Mphs95 for reviewing. These might be the most glowing reviews in a while :).

The smell of bacon pulled Wendell from his dreams.

"Good morning," Lilly said softly, sitting down on the edge of her side of the bed, watching her boyfriend wake up.

"Morning", Wendell grumbled.

Gosh, he looked so cute, half asleep, hair disheveled. "I took the liberty of ordering us breakfast."

"Yeah, I thought I smelled bacon."

"You got that right. I also got some fruit to balance the unhealthiness. Booth is really getting inside my head about living healthy", Lilly complained.

Wendell smiled, yawning as he pulled her into the bed to envelop her in his arms. "He doesn't live that healthily himself; you should hear Dr. B. about his habits when we are on the platform. I do have an idea to get him outside of your head though." Wendell turned her face a little more towards his, kissing her.

Lilly smiled after they ended the kiss. "That definitely helps, but our breakfast will go to waste if we don't eat it soon. The pancakes especially will be cooling down quite fast."

"Fine, you are right", Wendell said, rolling his eyes as he sat up.

Lilly grinned. "You're really not a morning person, huh? I thought I was horrible with getting up early, but you need more sleep than I do."

They both walked to the breakfast set up on the suite's table. Wendell grumbled as soon as he lost the warmth from the bed. "I used to be," Wendell said. "But being in our twenties messes with our biological clock making it harder to get up in the morning and to fall asleep in the evening."

"I love that you know that", Lilly said, plating up.

For a while, they ate in silence. Wendel gauged Lilly from beneath his eyelashes, trying to determine if this was a good time for the conversation Lilly had wanted to avoid yesterday. "So, I wondered if we could talk about where you come from. Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed our first relaxing spa day, but I can't help the questions I have in my head."

Lilly sighed and then nodded. "Okay sure, what do you want to know?"

Wendell fell silent, trying to pick the first question. "Did you have a nanny when you were growing up?"

"Yes", Lilly said. "A few actually and two au pairs through the years. My parents both worked. My mom stopped working until I was 4."

"Isn't that weird, that other people raise you?"

Lilly shrugged. "I don't know. A nanny only helps, it is still the parents who decide who the child is raised. A nanny beats being a kid with a house key, it also beats going to daycare after school. How did your parents fix your after-school time?"

"My mom worked from home during the day and went to work in the evening when my dad was home. My parents didn't have money to even make daycare arrangements."

"Please don't tell me you're jealous of me."

"Not yet...", Wendell said, "... but depending on what else I'll learn I can't guarantee I won't be jealous."

Lilly nodded. "I guess that is fair but keep in mind, jealousy is very unattractive."

"Duly noted. So, what does it mean to be part of an imperium?"

"I don't know. I wasn't raised to continually focus on money or anything. My mom wanted me to focus on studying and my hobbies, my dad taught me to think like an entrepreneur. I don't think me visiting my dad in the offices was any different from a child visiting their dad at his job."

Wendell nodded. "I guess I just didn't expect you to be one of those private school girls."

Lilly smiled. "Thanks. I probably hate them just as much as you do. Look, it's not like I am royalty or something. My dad and other family members work really hard to keep Johnson Inc at the top of their game. Sure, we have the advantage of generations of capital but that isn't worth anything if you don't know how to work with it or when you don't have a life; health, friends, fun."

Wendell nodded. "That makes sense. Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"Because we would have to have this conversation?" Lilly said with a smile. "No, this talk isn't the issue. It is the possibility that someone would start to treat you differently that is annoying. If I hadn't slipped up yesterday when you asked me about the stocks for the spa, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation now. Dr. Hodgins told me that he was able to keep his heritage a secret for over three years at the Jeffersonian."

"What is your dad like anyway?"

Lilly smiled. "We could drop by sometime if you want to?"

"Maybe we haven't been dating long enough", Wendell immediately backpaddled.

With a grin, Lilly nodded. "We could always go to your mom first. If she hates me you don't even have to suffer through meeting my dad." Lilly teased. "And my dad is just your average dad. He does know all the high society etiquette rules so maybe in that sense he is a little posh, but he's just a person like you and me."

"Yeah, I didn't expect him to be an alien or anything", Wendell said.

"Any more burning questions?" Lilly asked.

Wendell took a sip of his coffee. "Are you expected to go into the family business?"

"No", Lilly said. "Of course, it is a possibility, but it is definitely not expected of any of us. I have plenty of cousins that can keep the ship floating. My dad comes from a giant family."

"So, you wouldn't want to join?"

"Not right now", Lilly said. "I am loving DC a lot more than I expected. Maybe in 10 years, I'll think differently about it and who knows I might end up in the legal department, but I am really not that into corporate law. Why? Are you worried I am about to run home?" Lilly asked with a smirk.

"No not at all, I was just wondering."

Lilly nodded, that made sense, especially with Wendell, struggling to find which career path would fit him best. "Choosing a career is difficult, Wendell. I am lucky that I picked the law and loved it right away. I am however not sure if I can stomach criminal law for like 40 more years. So, I don't know what my future looks like exactly. All I know is that I'll be working for Caroline a little longer. Maybe I'll become even more science-y, I do love studying."

"I know but at least you know that you want to practice law."

Lilly padded his arm. "You'll figure out what is next for you too. I guess you're just surprised that anthropology apparently isn't your path, but once you get past that shock, you'll find your next thing."

"Yeah maybe. I just really enjoy working at the lab. It's the research that is tripping me up."

"Isn't there a job that just lets you do the science without having to be a researcher?"

"There is. Lab technicians work on the cases with us doing a lot of the science stuff."

"Okay, so why don't you become one?"

"It would keep me working in the lab", Wendell agreed.

"But?" Lilly asked, wondering what was wrong with being a lab technician.

"But lab technicians only work on really specified jobs. I wouldn't get to work with Dr. Brennan as much as I do now and lab techs don't work with bones."

"So that would make your degrees useless?" Lilly asked rhetorically. "Okay, so that is a no on the lab technician then. You're probably thinking too hard about what should be your next move. One day you might just wake up knowing what should be next."

"I hope so but I will need a job after graduation."

"Well. A job is a job, right? You could always change jobs after figuring out what it is you want to do." Lilly said, trying to keep up the good spirits.

Wendell nodded. "Or maybe I can become a stay at home dad." He said with a deep sigh.

Lilly grinned. "I thought we already had decided that kids were going to have to wait at least a year. Plus, my income alone wouldn't be enough to support us and a baby."

"I know, but it would solve my career problem."

Lilly smiled. "Maybe, but it sounds like quitting though. Do you think you could be happy being a stay at home dad?"

Wendell paused. "I suppose. I could do the work around the house. Like build a three house, fix the sink, put together a new closet. Play with the kids. Come to think of it, it really does sound nice."

Lilly tried to picture it. "You wouldn't even last a month doing that."

"What? Why do you think that?"

"Because you're too much of a social person to be alone with a baby all day. I think it will drive you crackers."

"Well okay, it might be lonely. But there are grocery stores, you have lunch breaks." Wendell countered.

Lilly grinned. "Yeah, I still can't picture it being a success."

"You did it for a living," Wendell stated.

"That I did. But I was also studying at the time and since those kids weren't actually mine, I got to go out without having to find a babysitter in the evening. Plus, a baby is a lot of work, but they don't say anything, that is actually why I preferred working in a family with several kids, ideally of varied ages."

"I guess that means that you're not going to be a stay at home mom ever?" Wendell concluded.

"If by a stay at home mom you mean I wouldn't be also working from home or working part-time; than yes, I have no desire to do that."

"And what if someone would offer you to be a nanny again?"

"Permanently? No. Being a nanny or an au pair is great, don't get me wrong, but it isn't something I would like to do forever. Starting your own family while being a nanny is pretty difficult. You would pretty much have to miss every milestone of your own child while being there when the nanny-family-baby passes the milestone. I'd rather be there for my child to see their first steps."

"That makes sense," Wendell agreed.

Lilly continued. "Don't get me wrong, it was a great job – but at that time. I still love children, but it is a weird job. You're there for them, almost loving them unconditionally and then you just move on, to never hear from them. It's like you used to make money boxing, but you outgrew that too."

"Yeah, the danger for brain damage was getting too great."

"Regardless. Side jobs aren't meant to be permanent. It was great fun spending a couple of days with Parker and that didn't feel like work at all, but some families, boy they drain your energy quickly."

"Like internships aren't permanent?"

"Yes, exactly," Lilly confirmed.

"But you're staying at the Justice Department." Again, Wendell stated.

"True, but I am changing jobs. As an intern, it was my task to conduct research. After the summer I won't have to do as much research and just work the cases with Caroline. Do you have any more questions about me potentially being a spoiled little brat?"

Wendell grinned. "Spoiled little brat?"

"Yes, I saw the look on your face." Lilly teased.

"Yeah, fair enough. What would you do if you learned I was a part of one of the richest families?"

Lilly thought about it. "I don't know, probably the same as you just did. Are you looking forward to our second spa day?"

"Sure, what's the plan for today?"

"Not much planned. I thought we could enjoy that spa itself. Swim in a couple of special pools, sweat out our demons. At first, I thought some more massages, but who needs a singing bowl massage, right?"

"Yeah, that sounds a bit weird. So, you want to spend the whole day inside the spa?"

"No not per se. If you're done with it, we can leave. Though remember yesterday; you didn't want to do anything after that massage." Lilly warned. "Well, okay, you did, but not something that involved us leaving this room. Lilly said cheekily.

Wendell smirked. "You're right. But it would be great to see some things in NY."

"We could always go back for a more touristic trip." Lilly offered.

"That sounds like fun. Though, wouldn't that be boring for you? Since you've lived here for so long?"

Lilly waved his comment away. "Of course, it will be fun. I could show you the places only locals go to. Also: locals don't usually do the tourist things, so we can do some of them together for the first time."

"Okay, that does sound like fun."

Most of the morning Wendell and Lilly spend drifting in the pool, sweating in a couple of different types of saunas and laying on the hot stone area. After lunch, they were sitting in the whirlpool. "Is there anything you would like to try while we are here? Lilly asked Wendell.

"You mean like a massage or something?"

"Hmm, maybe."

Wendell checked the list of options that was written on a nearby wall. "Well, I guess a mud bath sounds interesting."

"That's funny, I've never done that one," Lilly remarked.

"Really? But are you up for trying it?"

Lilly smiled. "Well, I've kind of making you do a lot of things you've never done before so let's have a mud bath. I want you to enjoy this weekend too."

"I am enjoying myself," Wendell stated determinedly. "I would have never gone to a spa by myself but I really like it. Plus, spending time with you out of our usual spots is terrific too." He gave her a quick kiss.

"Lilly?" Wendell asked softly.

Lilly opened her eyes and turned her head to Wendell. "Yes?"

"I am... uhm... not enjoying this as much as I had thought. This floating feeling is way too weird and I am starting to feel a bit claustrophobic."

Lilly chuckled. "Great because I feel like there is mud in places, I don't want to have it and I am not relaxing at all."

Wendell snorted. "And here I was trying to hang in there because you looked so peaceful."

Lilly snickered too, enjoying the irony as much as Wendell was.

"At least we tried right?" Wendell said.

"Sure. You want to go to the city now?"

"Maybe, but I like your idea of coming back to the big Apple some other time. They have sports here too, right?"

"Yes, what do you like?"

"I don't know, I have never done any of them. You like yoga, right?"

Lilly nodded.

"There is a yoga class at 3 pm", Wendell said.

"Hot yoga", Lilly said. "I've never done that either, but it could be fun."

Wendell smirked. "Do you really want to do something you've never done before and that I picked again?"

Lilly chuckled. "Just because your first pick wasn't a success, doesn't mean we shouldn't try your second. Maybe we should check if it is a beginner's class. Otherwise, this might be as horrible as taking mud baths."

A/N: As always: thank you for reading! I guess it is time to get our interns back to D.C., although there might be one more spa chapter coming up. I'd love to hear what you think about this chapter :).
