Once upon a time,
My mom and I,
We went to a pet shop,
There was a cat with eyes the color of a lime.
I wanted that cat to name Dolly,
Dolly would be my very best friend,
"We cannot get that cat,
Because of Ollie."
The next day I returned,
With money I had taken from my mom,
I adopted Dolly,
But hiding a cat is difficult I learned.
I fed Dolly bacon bits,
I took Dolly to the beach,
My mom did not know,
Until we fell in the pits...
"Junie B. Jones, what on Earth is going on?!"
My mother had found me,
With Dolly in the pits,
We had been missing since before dawn.
I was okay,
But poor Dolly was not,
Her legs had been broken,
So I set her down on some hay.
The sun set and rose again,
My Dolly wore red casts,
My mom was furious,
All I could think about was what could have been...
"What were you thinking? You knew we couldn't keep her!"
I didn't answer,
I was too upset,
Then I heard a little purr.
Dolly would survive to see another day,
But could I keep her,
After my last mistake?
There were still so many games to play!
Dolly would get to stay with me,
We would get to play all the games,
And we will be best friends,
Forever we will be...
