A/N: Is it too late to wish you all happy New Year? XD. To start this year off right with this story I have an all B&B chapter for you :).

The process for the transfer of ownership was a lot easier than Booth had expected. All in all, it had been very quick. The auction had only been a meekly two weeks ago. Bones had placed the money in escrow within the two days after winning the bid and today the closing took place.

Booth had always heard horror stories of people being dragged along by real estate agents and then by banks for the loan before being able to buy their house. Naturally, it helped that his Bones didn't need a mortgage to help pay for the property. Of course, the route the partners had taken to buy their first home was a little different from buying directly from an owner. Booth smiled to himself. Barely anything Bones and he did, met the standards for normal.

Flashback

"Miss Brennan? The lady at the state department asked trying to find her next appointment in the waiting room.

Bones got up and shook the woman's hand. "Yes, I am Dr. Temperance Brennan."

Booth smiled at the gentle correction Bones dished out, using her title. Shaking the woman's hand Booth introduced himself as well.

"The two of you are buying the plot together if I am correct?" She asked as she led the partners to her office down the hall.

Booth nodded as he intertwined his fingers with Bones', which she accepted. Since they were dating now and pretty much everybody knew it, Booth had asked Temperance to humor him in harmless public displays of affections.

"Yes." Bones said with a smile, quickly glancing between her and Booth to their hands.

"Excellent. All the papers came through perfectly and the bank has delivered the keys here so when you leave here, you'll both be the proud owners of a house." Her job was always the same set of tasks but seeing people in love come into her office was always a joyous moment. Most people buying from the state auction actually we're legal persons and they were represented by business people who bought properties like this for a living. There hardly was any passion or excitement when closing the deal in those interactions. She looked at the couple who nodded and smiled. Today was going to be a good workday. "Is this your first house?"

Booth and Bones nodded. "Though, I do own an apartment, but this will be my first ever house." Bones added.

She smiled at the excitement of the woman in front of her. "Well that is always quite the moment, so let's try and make it a pleasant moment for both of you."

End of flashback

Booth drew in a deep breath as they exited the building. "We're homeowners now, Bones." Booth tried to savor the moment. It wasn't every day someone was able to buy a home, especially with the almost ridiculous prices in a metro area like D.C.

Bones nodded with a smile as she showed Booth the keys to their home. "That we are. I am glad we took this step; it feels... right." Temperance wondered if this was what brides and grooms felt after getting married. Even though marriage was definitely a step more, Bones pondered on the similarities. Marriage linked two people together, which was registered by the Bureau of Vital Statistics. Booth's and her name were now forever linked together in the cadaster registry. Forever. Temperance smiled. It didn't seem as scary anymore.

He pulled her close to him and kissed her. "I agree. It definitely feels good." Keeping her close he enjoyed the hug and the feeling of happiness, trying to engrave it into his brain. "Okay, let's go to dinner to celebrate," Booth said with a giant megawatt smile.

"Dinner? It is noon, Booth." Bones said. She wondered if all the happiness was affecting his brain in a bad way.

Booth smiled. "I know, I meant the diner, not dinner, but come to think of it, this is a special moment in our lives so we should celebrate it somewhere more special. How about Bicchiere?" Booth suggested, knowing Bones loved their Italian inspired vegetable dishes.

Bones nodded. "That sounds perfect."

"Perfect."

Booth looked at the menu. "We really should have dinner here again. The wine combinations with the meals sound amazing." He loved himself a good glass of wine but not in the middle of the day. Even though it was always five o'clock somewhere, Booth had decided not to drink alcohol any earlier than with his biggest meal of the day. Having seen his brother abuse alcohol had been a great motivator in that and cops weren't supposed to drink during their shifts.

"I agree. I would love to try the giardino sometime." Bones said.

Booth looked up the dish on his menu. "Ah yes, wood-grilled vegetables... no... I would miss meat too much."

Brennan smiled. There was no chance that she was going to restart that discussion. Throughout the years both had shared all the arguments they had about eating or not eating meat and it had always ended in agreeing to disagree.

The waiter took their order and came back with some bread.

"Can you believe we just bought a home?" Booth said with a giant smile that didn't seem to falter at all.

"Yes, I can. There is quite a stack of paperwork to prove it in the car."

Booth chuckled. "Yeah, after a while I got worried my hand would die and fall off from signing every page."

Bones scrunched up her nose. "That is quite the picture you paint."

"Really?" Booth grinned. "A mental picture is what grosses you out?" He shook his head hiding a smile. He took Bones' hand in his. Meeting her eyes, he got lost in the love he felt for this remarkable woman. "I really love that I got to share buying a home with you."

Not entirely sure what Booth was thanking her for, but picking up on the tenderness in his voice she nodded. "Me too. Until very recently I didn't think I would ever get to buy a house with a significant other but now we did." Bones smiled slightly, before frowning. "I uhm... There is something I wish to tell you, although I don't know the protocol for it."

Booth looked at his partner suspicious of her sudden change in behavior and mood. "Protocol?" He cocked an eyebrow.

"Yes, protocol or social convention." Bones said, signaling with her hand that the semantics didn't really matter.

Letting go of her hand he took another piece of bread to keep his hands busy. "What is wrong, Bones? Are you going to tell me you don't want to live with me?" There was genuine fear coursing through him.

"Of course not." Bones said, hating that she sometimes was unable to strike the right tone. "I just told you I am very happy with that decision. Why would I even go through this sale with you if I didn't intend on us living together for at the very least the foreseeable future? This is about something we discussed a while back. Maybe this is more of a female point of concern, though... That is to say, I am not sure what the custom is for disusing this with a partner." She sighed. "I am sorry..." She looked down before looking back in Booth's eyes. "From what I do know this is supposed a happy moment, in most cases at least, but I am messing it up."

"Temperance, you are scaring me, please just tell me what is on your mind." Booth looked tense, ready to booster out of his chair.

Bones nodded, then smiled and re-tangled their fingers. "My period is late, approximately five days late to be exact." She paused to let her words sink in.

"You... Are you pregnant?" Booth asked. Graduate a smile curved up his lips, growing bigger slowly into one of the most radiant smiles anyone had ever seen.

"I don't know for sure. Of course, it is possible for my period to simply be late, but normally I am fairly regular. I haven't done a pregnancy test yet. I wasn't sure if that would be something you would want to be involved in or if you'd prefer only hearing the results."

"What? Yeah, of course, that is something I want to be involved in! We're partners, a team, and more importantly a couple."

Bones blushed. Temperance felt like she should have known that would have been Booth's reaction. It was so characteristically him. "I am sorry. As I said I didn't know what the usual way of handling this is. I refrained from checking with anyone because if I turn out to be pregnant, they would know and that didn't feel right."

"I agree with that, Bones and I am glad you came to me. Look at us." Booth paused for a second, reveling in his smile. "We bought a house and we're at the very least working on having a family of our own. It is like... This day is the start of a new chapter in our lives."

Bones smiled at his words and nodded.

"So, should we stop at a pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test or is this something we need a doctor for? Booth asked, excited for the possibility of becoming a father once more.

"A pregnancy test from the doctor is more accurate, but I'd like to buy the home test anyway. If I test positive, we should make that doctor appointment to have it confirmed and to start the prenatal care."

Booth nodded. Of course, his Bones knew all the steps to take.

"Haven't you been through this with Rebecca after she conceived Parker?"

"Not really. Becca took the test as she feared that she might be pregnant. When it was positive, she immediately tried calling me, but I was picking up my new army uniforms for my next mission and missed her call. When she couldn't reach me, she all but raced to the doctor's office where he confirmed she was indeed expecting. Then when I came home there was a note on my table next to the pregnancy test saying we needed to talk after her class." Booth smiled wryly at the memory. It hadn't been a happy announcement or a happy time in his life, while happiness was what he had always expected to be the emotion when bringing new life into the world. "She pretty much a shut me out of the whole thing. I think I've been to one ultrasound appointment and that was it."

Bones nodded. "I'll try to involve you as much as I can and I'll ask you if I am in doubt about whether or not you'd like to be involved with anything, not just concerning a pregnancy."

"Thanks, Bones", Booth said. "I know this time around it will be different and for that, I am very grateful." He sent a quick prayer upstairs thanking God for Temperance and hopefully their baby.

A/N: No, I am not saying Booth wasn't happy that he was going to be a father with Parker. I am implying his feelings were mixed because of the circumstances. Booth seems like the type of man to have always have wanted his own children. So much love to give, right?! Thank you for reading. I'd love to hear what your thoughts are about this chapter!
