"Isn't it awesome Eri-chan got to visit the school today?" Midoriya asked his group who was assigned to cleaning the dinner dishes that night. "I am so happy she'll be safe now."
"All in the days work of being a hero!" Kirishima grinned widely and grabbed a cloth to begin drying. "Isn't that right, Todoroki?"
"I guess," he muttered, his mind not in the present moment. He was as happy as the rest of his friends.
Wasn't he?
I don't know.
"What's wrong?" Midoriya asked, worried he said something to offend.
"It's nothing," it wasn't worth even being upset over. It was not even the same situation. Or at least that's what Todoroki told himself as he scrapped food off the plates. "I am as thankful as the rest of you that Eri was rescued. I had a long day at the provisional license training today."
"Okay, if you're sure," Midoriya could tell his friend was lying, but figured it was best to let it go.
"But we're here if you need us, that's for sure!" Kirishima added, patting the tired one on the shoulder.
"Thank you." Todoroki said and silently went about the rest of his job. Once everything was properly put away and the kitchen cleaned, he made his way to this room. He needed to study before he went to sleep, and he still needed to…
He sank to the floor. Tears of anger sliding down his face as he sat with his back leaning on his closed bedroom door.
Why?
Why was I not saved?
Todoroki knew his thoughts were selfish, but he felt betrayed. Forgotten. Heroes are supposed to save people. But no one. No one saved me. They only-
They only cared about saving Eri because Overhaul created that damn drug!
'Heroes are heroes because they save people!'.
I hear that every day, but…
If that is so, how was I not saved?
I wanted to be saved. I wanted nothing more but to leave the hell I lived in, but no one ever cared about me. They only cared my father was the number two hero- not that he beat his children. I was hurting too. Yet, I was ignored, left behind to suffer.
Why?
