Title: Never Giving Up

Chapter 2

(Jake stood outside of Elizabeth's bridal suite and was about to knock when the door opened. Elizabeth stood before him in all her beauty but she had a complex look on her face. She quickly glanced behind her to see if anyone noticed that Jake was at the door; they hadn't)

"What are you doing here? That was stupid." Elizabeth began to mumble as she closed the door behind her. Felix would have a field day if he knew she was seeing the groom before the wedding – it was bad enough that she talked to him.

"I mean I know what you're doing here. I just assumed that since you didn't text Laura…" Elizabeth trailed off as she noticed his facial expression – hurt mixed with anger?

"I know. I had other business to attend to." Jake replied as the thought of the thirty minute call that ended in tears of joy for Sam. They managed to set up a time and place for tomorrow to discuss everything – Diane would be present, Sam would call her tonight. He still had to tell Monica and Sonny but he had a feeling Carly probably beat him to it.

"Oh, we still have thirty minutes to actually decide." Elizabeth softly spoke as she felt her nerves began to get the better of her. She hadn't felt this way towards anyone else except Jason when he proposed and she finally accepted – third time was the charm. Or at least it was until they heard about Michael's accident.

Jake began to think of ways to approach the reveal, but no matter how he told Elizabeth the end result would be the same – him leaving and her crushed. He took a breath and just began to say what his brain had managed to string together. "I want to marry you. But, legally, I can't. I finally figured out who I was. After months of not knowing and today of all days..."

(Elizabeth listened to him intently and began to smile when he mentioned that he finally figured out his identity. But that'd mean that he would be going back to his actual family and she'd be happy for them. That wouldn't stop the hurting. He began to trail off and she gathered up the courage to ask who he was when the door opened)

"Elizabeth, we need to take some pre-wedding pictures." Sabrina said as she glanced between the soon or not soon to be wife and husband. Laura had filled both her and Felix in on the situation. That didn't faze Felix and he just resumed getting the preparations done until Elizabeth officially called it off.

"Jake, you might as well join." Sabrina commented as she left them to finish their conversation. Jake smiled and gave a nod while he gently placed his hand on her arm. She smiled and let herself be guided into the bridal suite. Even if this wedding didn't happen, he still wanted proof that it almost did – it was a lot further than that one-day engagement.

"The truth is going to come out." Nikolas commented as he finished texting his mother. They apparently were taking pre-wedding pictures. Helena still went on about their need to use Jake Doe and truthfully, he blocked her out.

Nikolas: "Don't you get it, grandmother? Whatever the scheme that you have against Jason won't work. So, get it the hell out of your head."

"I suppose it was fun but that doesn't mean it's over." Helena replied as she watched her grandson text. He may know his identity but that didn't mean he had memories and she could work with that. She still needed to figure out what to do with the twit that was Jason Morgan's best friend.

(Nikolas didn't take anything she said to heart and could guarantee she had a scheme. For whatever reason, she needed to use Jason as a pawn to destroy lives. What Helena failed to know was that Nikolas isn't about to let her get away with it. She may have had a plan, but so did he)

"I should be going to the chapel. If there isn't a wedding then I need to be there for support." Nikolas said as he grabbed his discarded tux jacket. The assumed wedding would take place in twenty minutes, he may be late, but he'd be there.

"Oh, yes. You being supportive for Sweet Elizabeth must bring you such joy." Helena dryly commented as she needed to think of a new plan. She knew that her possible plan against the new and improved Jason Morgan wouldn't work. So, she'd need to think of a different plan.

"Don't go there, grandmother. We're just friends." Nikolas stated as he put his jacket on. Every chance she could, she'd bring up the whole affair and subsequently Aiden. Helena didn't reply and Nikolas took that as an opportunity to leave.

(Helena mumbled something after she heard Nikolas leave and looked through her contacts. She wondered what her grandson would think about his precious Elizabeth switching results – granted it was three years ago but it was something. Lingering her finger over the contact she pushed the dial button)

(Carly sighed in frustration as she tried for the umpteenth time to call Jason. She tried Elizabeth but only got one sentence in before the call ended. She was ecstatic that Spinelli was able to find a match and quickly called Jake to tell him his identity. Only he didn't seem too happy to learn about it but she figured that was because he was fixing to marry Muffin)

"She had to know, didn't she?" Carly questioned as she put the car in park. She had eliminated location options before finally trying the chapel. She turned off the car and exited it when she heard her name being called by Patrick.

"Hello, Patrick. Now I must –." Carly began only to be cut off as he quickly stepped in front of her.

"You aren't going to do it." Patrick stated as he stood firmly in front of the blonde woman. Sam was with Emma and Danny while trying to get a hold of Diane. He didn't want his friend to find out about Jake due to the blonde's need to be in Jason's business.

Carly stood firm as she tried to figure out what the doctor was going on about when it clicked. "You know about Jake's identity."

"Yeah, he called Sam told her then told me. It's a shock that's for sure but you aren't going to go in there." Patrick said as he watched her. It was a shock and that only meant that relationships would be tested – Carly clearly had no problem trying to get a hold of Jason. Laura had called Sam to see if she could get Carly to stop calling every few minutes.

"I just want to make sure he's okay. Yes, it's a shock but he needs his friends." Carly commented as she began to move around Patrick's path only to be called out by Nikolas.

(Elizabeth quietly stood by as she watched Jake and Felix smile for a picture. Laura made her way towards her and smiled)

"You aren't going through with it, are you?" Laura questioned softly. Elizabeth didn't know how to answer that, every minute that ticked by was another minute that they didn't fully decide.

"I don't know." Elizabeth truthfully spoke as she watched Felix shake Jake's hand. It wouldn't be a huge loss if they called it off, only close family and friends were invited. She drew a deep breath before excusing herself from Laura and making her way to Jake. Felix was about to say something but seeing Laura's look decided to let the two be. Sabrina quickly took a picture of Elizabeth smiling when she met Jake before heading to join Laura and Felix. Laura decided that they needed to see if anyone else arrived.

"He..." Elizabeth started as she heard the bridal door close before blinking. She didn't know what to say, what to ask, but she did. It was just three words and shouldn't be so hard to question, but the impact of them words, would.

"I think it would be best if we did call off the wedding." Jake said quietly as he wanted to reach out and comfort her. He already dragged this out until the last possible minute but he wanted to savor this moment for as long as he could.

Elizabeth softly sighed, she had a feeling that they wouldn't go through with it but that didn't mean she didn't hope. She should have taken Felix up on that glass of wine before asking the ultimate question. "Who are you?"

(Jason had a small smile and tried to remember what Carly said about Spinelli before answering. Elizabeth waited with anticipation as she desperately wanted him to hurry about and reveal it – he was always like this, quoy)

"Jason." He answered waiting to see what she'd say. Elizabeth needed a little more information than just his first name. Jason was a popular boy's name. She must have had a confused look on her face because he continued. "Morgan. Jason Morgan."
