Chapter 7/Epilogue

***Cassadine Island***

(Nikolas and Elizabeth decided to reconnect as it's been a little while since they last spoke. They share a friendly hug before going into the living room and sit down on the couch)

Nikolas: (smiles) "How are things your way?"

Liz: (nods) "Okay." (smiles) "Things couldn't get any better." (weird look) "I am confused by something, though."

Nikolas: "Oh? What's that?"

Liz: (sighs) "Well, on the day of my wedding to Jason, who was Jake Doe at the time, I received a mystery text. I don't know what it means or who sent it."

Nikolas: (one eyebrow raised) "What'd it say?"

Liz: "'I think it's strange you never knew'."

(Nikolas rolls his eyes and sighs deeply)

Nikolas: "That would be my grandmother who thinks she knows everything. When I found out that she sent it to you, I scolded her and warned her that she was going down a dangerous path."

Liz: (puzzled) "Why'd she send it?"

Nikolas: (shrugs) "Why does Helena do anything? She wanted to be in control of the situation. I don't know how she found out that Jake Doe was really Jason. I'll never understand what goes on in her mind. What I do know is she wanted to control 'Jake Doe' like she did Lucky years ago. I think she thought it was strange you didn't know that 'Jake Doe' was really Jason. But, how could you have known? Not everyone knew."

(Elizabeth looks wide-eyed at her former brother-in-law)

Liz: "Holy shit."

(Elizabeth sighs deeply as she puts a few strands of hair behind her ears)

Liz: "You're right. I'll never understand Helena and her twisted mind. In a way, we all lost Lucky when Helena controlled him." (nervously) "To think that she wanted to do that to Jason."

Nikolas: (raises his eyebrows) "Are you ready for this? Sam was all for the idea, too. Why? Because if Jason was going to be hers in the end, it would've worked out for everyone. Well, for her and Helena, anyway."

Liz: (scoffs) "That fucking bitch."

Nikolas: "I thought Helena had a plan and I warned her against it."

Liz: (chuckles dryly) "Yeah, the plan was with Sam as she didn't want to admit that she lost." (shakes her head) "Jason isn't a prize to be won. We fell in love and want to be together."

Nikolas: (smiles) "I'm happy for you."

Liz: (nods & smiles) "Thank you." (puzzled) "Why didn't you tell me all of this before?"

Nikolas: "I honestly thought that you knew. When you spoke of it just now, I realized that you didn't. I'm really sorry."

Liz: "Don't worry. All is forgiven."

Nikolas: "I appreciate that." (tilts his head) "So, what now?"

Liz: "Now…." (exhales deeply) "…I'm going home to Jason and the boys. The way it should have always been."

Nikolas: (grins) "Good luck. Something tells me that you won't need it, though."

(They get up from the couch and embrace the other before Elizabeth departs the mansion)

***Elizabeth & Jason's House***

Cameron: "I'm so glad that we're a family again."

Jake: "We should have always been one."

Aiden: "Yay! Mommy and Daddy!"

(Jason and Elizabeth, who are sitting on the couch, watch the boys cheer in the living room. The couple can't help but laugh at their kids' endless enthusiasm)

Jason: "You guys are right. We should have always been a family."

Liz: "Well, we are one now and that's all that matters."

Jason: "All we need now is an engagement and then a wedding and life will be perfect."

(Elizabeth quickly looks at her man in shock as he gets off the couch and bends down to one knee. Cameron, Jake, and Aiden notice this and cheer on the soon-to-be engaged couple)

Liz: "Oh, my God."

(Jason takes a ring box out of his jeans pocket and opens it for his girl to see, which is a 2 carat circle diamond ring)

Liz: "It's beautiful."

Jason: (chuckles) "It may be stunning, but it doesn't hold a candle to you."

(Cameron, Jake, and Aiden lean against the side of the couch with anticipation)

Jason: "We should have always been married. I'm changing that now. Will you marry me for real this time and make me the happiest man alive, baby?"

(Elizabeth laughs and nods in excitement)

Liz: "I've been yours for years, even when we didn't know it. I love you, now and forever, and I can't wait to be your wife."

(They share a kiss and then Jason slides the ring on her finger. The three young men clap and cheer that their parents are finally together and they're a family, the way it should have always been)

Jason: (jokes) "Now you're stuck with me, Webber."

Liz: (smirks) "Now and forever, baby."
