"Human... It was nice to meet you." Asgore spoke with a tremble in his voice. His hands clenched at his sides as he closed his eyes. "... Goodbye..."
A trident red as blood was thrown from under his cape. His eyes gained a heckish glow. His features contorted into what could only be described as... a monster.
Peter knew there would be no mercy.
"Will nothing I can say change your mind?" Peter asked, body tensed as his spider-sense ripped through his brain.
Asgore didn't answer.
Peter flinched, diving from the rain of fireballs that flew towards him.
"Mr. King sir, I'd rather not hurt you!" He yelled.
Now Asgore flinched, but he pressed on. More flames.
"STOP THIS! PLEASE!" Peter pleaded.
Asgore halted for a second. When he resumed again, his actions were more sluggish. If not by much.
"You can't stop him with words!" Chara yelled. "I've only seen him like this once before... the day I died. Nothing can turn him from this plan!"
"But I have to try, don't I!?" Peter yelped as fire scorched his side. He paused to finish another nice cream.
"If you halt now..." Asgore spoke harshly. "I will not hesitate. Strike me down, or be held responsible for the fate of the human race."
Peter flipped over a wall of fire. "I refuse to use my power for evil!"
"If you do not destroy me..." His voice lowered. "I will destroy the barrier. I will annihilate humanity. I will utterly crush every thing you hold dear." He swung his trident. "Your friends..." Another swipe. Peter hit the ground. "Your family..." A stab. Peter clutched his side. "And all those you love!"
"He's being serious..." Chara spoke in a hushed tone.
"Laid..." Asgore prepared for a fatal blow. "To DUST!"
Peter let out a cry, a scream that encompassed the feeling of utter hopelessness, of confusion, of anger. He caught Asgore's trident. Even as his hand began to sear and bleed, he crumpled it.
Asgore looked in horror as Peter rose to a crouching stance. The eyes of his masks narrowed to red pinpricks. With a cry he launched himself at Asgore, webs flying as he smacking into Asgore again and again, each blow landing rock solid. When the king crumpled to the ground, Peter breathed heavily.
"Ah..." Asgore coughed up bits of dust. "So that is how it is..."
He coughed a bit more. Peter wanted to hit him once more, but something held him back.
"I remember the day after my son died." Asgore spoke softly. "The entire Underground was devoid of hope... The future taken from us once again. By humans." He laughed without humor. "I was so filled with rage... I... I declared war that day. I told my people that I would destroy any human that came here. And use their SOULs to break the barrier. I told them... told myself, that I would then destroy all of humanity. To let us live on the surface in peace."
Peter still said nothing. But looking at this broken being, this king lying on the floor, he felt no anger...
But pity.
"Truthfully, I do not wish this." Asgore continued. "What I told you... I hate the feeling of fighting a being that would chose peace. Especially when that's the choice I would make. Of course, not all people were happy at my actions. My wife became disgusted with my actions. She left this place... and I haven't seen her since."
"That's why mom lives alone." Chara spoke in a hushed tone.
"I do not want power." Asgore sadly said. "I... I don't want to hurt anyone. I just wanted everyone to have hope." He began to cry. "I... I only want to see my wife again. I want to see my child again..."
He gathered himself. "But... I have taken actions that I cannot justify. Please... This war has gone on long enough. I no longer deserve this life. Destroy me, take my SOUL, and cross the barrier... free."
Peter looked upon the monster crumpled before him. He saw his one ticket out, his escape, the only way to leave...
And he saw a man. A broken man. A man who had wanted to give hope to his people. A man who wanted his family back.
He recognized this person.
"I... refuse to take the steps you took." Peter spoke softly, then with boldness. "I refuse to take the steps you took to secure my own freedom. One day you will face judgement..."
He stepped forward and offered his hand. "But it will not come from me."
Asgore looked upon him in shock. "... After everything I've done, all on your journey, to hurt you and take your SOUL... You would rather stay down here and suffer... Than live happily on the surface?"
Peter took off his mask to look Asgore in the eye. "No. I would rather offer forgiveness to my enemy than to take their life for my own. That's not what a hero does. That's not what Spiderman does. That isn't what I do."
"Human..." Asgore looked Peter in the eye. "I promise you... For as long as you remain here... My wife and I will take care of you as best we can. And I shall not rest until I have found a way to get all of us out of this place. A way that does not require the sacrifice of any more inno-"
"PETER! DUCK!" Chara screamed.
Peter leapt to the side as a hail of bullets covered Asgore. He looked on in horror as they drove into him. Til one more waited around, and flew directly through his SOUL, splitting it in two.
"Gee whiz, you are pathetic." Flowey spat as the human SOULs began to circle him. "You were so busy focusing on Mr. Fluffybuns... you didn't notice me. And now, you'll pay for that little misstep. In fact- a0irj-0aj0HJEUOAHIUDGHFPWIU3H9Q20128H9`01093J-04J0
