Peter gasped in delight. "Toriel!"
"Mrs. Queen Mom!" Chara squealed. "Oh right, she can't hear me."
"Do not be afraid, my child." Toriel smiled. "At first, I had though I would let you make your journey alone... But I could not stop worrying about you. Not to mention how that dog stole my phone, I could not reach you. it was quite concerning."
"So that's why my calls didn't go through!" Peter smiled.
"Indeed. My, your adventure must have been so treacherous."
Peter shrugged. "I mean, I fought skeletons and fishes, had several hangouts, got new threads, was on TV..."
"Multiple times!" Chara interjected.
Toriel smiled sadly. "I knew, however, that it would ultimately burden you with a horrible choice. To leave this place, you would have to take the life of another person. To defeat Asgore. However... I realized... I cannot allow that. It is not right to sacrifice someone simply to let someone leave here."
She spat out those last words, and Asgore grunted sheepishly. "Tori, I... you came ba-"
"Do not "Tori" me." She snapped. "You pathetic whelp. Look at you, about to murder a child!"
"I'm almost 18." Peter interjected. Toriel ignored him.
"If you really wanted to free our kind... You could have gone through the barrier after you got ONE SOUL, taken six more from already dying humans, and then come back here and freed everyone peacefully!"
"That was our plan though..." Chara noted. "Didn't go so well."
Peter shrugged. "I think she's just upset."
"But instead, you left everyone here in despair, " Toriel continued, "Simply because you would rather wait here, meekly hoping another human never comes."
Asgore sighed. "... Tori... You're right... I am a miserable creature... but please, do you think we can at least be friends again?"
Toriel scoffed. "NO, Asgore."
She was unable to say anything more, as Undyne ran in and tackled Peter to the ground. "Ngahhhhh! Asgore! Human!"
"Peter..." Peter gasped.
"Whatever! Don't fight!" Undyne lifted her chin. "Everyone is gonna make friends, or else I'll... I'll..."
She considered what she was gonna say. "Hold on, that wouldn't make sense."
"Hello, I am Toriel." Toriel said to her. "Are you a friend of the human? It is nice to meet you."
"Uh... yeah?" Undyne replied. "Nice to meet you too! I guess."
She walked over to Asgore. "Wait, isn't that your ex?"
He nodded.
"That's rough, buddy."
Chara burst out laughing. Peter tried his best not to.
"H-hey!" Alphys walked in. "Nobody hurt each other!"
"Undyne covered that... and me." Peter said, standing up. "Ow."
Alphys noticed Toriel and gasped.
"Oh! Are you another friend?" Toriel asked. "I am Toriel. Pleased to meet you!"
"Uh... hi!" Alphys whispered to Peter, "There's two of them?"
"The Queen. Formerly?" Peter replied.
Alphys oh'ed in understanding.
"HEY! NOBODY FIGHT ANYONE!"
Papyrus ran in.
"Covered!" Peter, Chara, Undyne, and Alphys yelled at the same time.
"OH... GOOD." Papyrus struck a pose. "CLEARLY DUE TO THE ACTIONS AND PASTA OF I, THE GREAT-"
"Hello there!" Toriel said.
"OH! HI YOUR MAJESTY!" Papyrus shouted. Walking to Peter, he leaned down. "PSST... DID ASGORE SHAVE? AND CLONE HIMSELF?"
"No, that's actually the queen."
"OH. THAT MAKES LESS SENSE THAN MY EXPLAINATION."
Sans strolled in. "hey guys... what's up?"
Toriel gasped. "I know your voice!" She walked over to Sans. "I think we may... know each other?"
Sans snapped his fingers. "oh hey, ruins lady! i recognize your voice too!"
"I am Toriel, and it is nice to meet you!"
"the name's sans." Sans winked. "and same."
"Oh wait!" She spun around. "This must be your brother, the Great Papyrus! Greetings, it is so nice to meet you! Your brother has told me so much about you!"
Papyrus gasped. "WOWIE! I CAN'T BELIEVE ASGORE'S CLONE KNOWS WHO I AM! THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!"
Toriel grinned. "Hey Papyrus... What does a skeleton tile his roof with?"
"HMM..." Papyrus thought hard. "A-HAH! I KNOW THIS ONE! SNOW PROOF ROOF TILES!"
"Nope!" Toriel cracked up. "Shingles!"
Papyrus gasped and narrowed his eyes. "I CHANGED MY MIND. GOOD GRIEF, THERE'S TWO OF THEM NOW!"
Toriel chuckled. "Well, my child, it seems you must stay here for a while."
Peter thought for a moment, and looked out at all his friends. Undyne was patting Asgore's back in a congenial way. Alphys was looking around t everyone and smiling. Papyrus and Sans were arguing over the merits of puns. Chara leaned on his shoulder, and gave him a grin.
"You know?" Peter gave a smile. "Maybe that wont be so bad after all."
Alphys scratched her neck. "Hey, that reminds me. Papyrus, you called me, how did you know the human would be fighting Asgore?"
Papyrus chuckled. "WHY, THAT'S EASY!
… A TINY FLOWER TOLD ME!"
Alphys froze. "Did you say..."
Peter's spider-sense went off.
"A tiny... flower?"
