Day 1: 10:30pm

He removed the blindfold from my eyes, revealing a room similar to the last, the only different being that it was smaller, there were no advertisements on the desk, some boxes lay in a corner, and the kay out was slightly different. Eddie looked slightly guilty as I looked around, seeing that I wasn't excited.

"I'm sorry it's nothing much, it was all that I could get, but I'll find something nicer next time."

"No, it's okay. I like it." I smiled at him and he seemed slightly relieved as I examined what new books he had found.

"I hope you don't mind that there's some boxes down here, but I'll move them tomorrow."

"What's in them?"

"Just some old work of mine."

"Can I read it?"

"Y-yeah, sure, if you want to. None of it is very interesting though." I went and opened one of the boxes, finding a mess of articles haphazardly stapled and paperclipped together. Eddie had never been good at sorting or storing things. I felt hands gently touch my waist and I turned to look at him. He pulled me into his chest and rested his head on top of mine and I felt myself sinking into his embrace. We stood like that for a while and I could feel myself becoming tired as his body heat and heartbeat made me more relaxed then I had been in a long time.

Day 2

I woke up and found myself in the unfamiliar bed even though I never laid down. Eddie must have put me here. I looked around to see if he was here but instead found a note lying on the bedside table next to me, saying that he didn't know how long he would be gone for and please don't go up the stairs. I rolled my eyes and stood, stretching my muscles and heading to the boxes to go through the articles he had left. Medical research and environmental damage seemed to be his two main topics as I tried to piece every article back together from the mess he had left them in, finding pieces scattered in all five boxes he had left. After a few hours or reading and sorting I had them all lying neatly in their piles, clipped together properly. While he was correct, they all appeared to be dull topics one stood out with a man in a red metal suit pictured on the front.

Tony Stark reveals that he is Iron Man, but can we trust him?

I read the article thoroughly, trying to understand what it was saying. Something about superheroes and the pros and cons as more of them appear but it all sounded unreal. Surely he put this in here as a joke to mess with me.

Day 7

It didn't take me long to read through all his articles although a few contained things that didn't sound true, just like the superhorse, something called a 'symbiote' and many mentions of a so called 'Spider-man.' After all of the nonsense in his articles I had moved to the books which were much more enjoyable, but I was growing impatient with how long he was taking. A week seemed to be becoming the norm but being down here by myself all the time was growing tiresome. I looked to the stair in thought. Last time I had gone up he had calmed down quickly, and if I don't call anyone surely no harm can come of it, right? Deciding to take the risk I went to them and pushed the door open, finding that only a dog's bed covered it this time. Relieved I stood up and began to look around. The windows weren't covered this time, revealing a rather ordinary looking suburban street, and the furniture present was much nice then the last house we had been in. I walked around slowly, finding that the house seemed small and rather basic, and that most of the furniture was littered with bite marks as if a puppy had lived here. I ignored the confusion, knowing that Eddie had never owned any pets. Maybe the furniture was second hand? But then why the bed.

I went back to the windows, peering out at the red brick house opposite and the green grass along the curb. A powerline pole was standing outside with a white piece of paper moving gently in the breeze. Something was written on it and I could just make out a picture of a person it but was too far away to see much more. I've probably been up here long enough though I should go back downstairs.

Day 11

Eddie was taking an incredibly long time and lacking self-control I had spent most of my time upstairs, still looking out at the piece of paper. The face seemed familiar and it was killing me not knowing who it was. The door only had a single lock which was easily undone, and it was dark outside so no one would see me. Breathing heavily, I unlatched the door and stepped outside. I walked down the path to the grass where the pole stood. The grass was unfamiliar on my feet as I pulled the paper from the sign. My hands began shaking and my breath caught in my throat as I recognized who was on the missing person poster. My own smiling face stared up at me with three contact phone numbers available. I couldn't breath properly anymore and I wanted to just go back to my bed but as I looked up the house, I felt my blood run cold. Security cameras. I began running down the street, not knowing where else to go as tears began pricking my eyes. Why was there a missing poster for me? Who lived in that house? They know where me and Eddie are now.

I kept running until my feet couldn't move anymore and I found myself in a quiet city, no people around to see and the curtains drawn in every building. I was getting more confused and went down a side alley, not wanting to be seen if anybody decided to come out. I was still crying and was trying to keep my sobs from getting too loud when I noticed a strange figure staring at me. I looked up at him, tears still streaming down my face and I tried to hold back a scream as I backed away from him. He was more humanoid then human, about 8 feet tall with liquid black skin and white eye like shapes on his face, mouth open with razor teeth showing a serpent like tongue visible. It took a step closer to me and I continued to back away, taking my eyes away from it for a moment and feeling something hard hit my head before I lost consciousness.

Day 1: 1am

Heavy, cool metal encircled one of my ankles and strong arms held me tightly as I woke up, confused and with my head pounding. I looked around and could make up the usual set up except the bathroom wasn't in a separate room and the space was much smaller to normal. Eddie's boxes still sat in a corner, taped shut again.

"Where are we?"

"I can't tell you that Pete."

"Why am I chained up?" I moved the quilt and looked at my ankle in disappointment.

"Sweetie, it's for your own good. You got hurt when you snuck out and I don't want you getting hurt again." I didn't respond, a nagging feeling in my gut telling me that I should have run further.

"What was that thing that got me?"

"What do you mean 'thing'?" My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"It didn't look completely human." His hand began to play with my hair softly.

"You hit your head Pete, you can't remember it properly. It was just a man, but you're safe now, and that's what matters." He kissed my head and stood up.

"Are you leaving?"

"Yeah baby, I was just waiting for you to wake up. I'll see you in a while, okay?" He kissed my head and went up the stairs, closing the door with a thud that made my head pound even more.

Day 5

The chain was itchy and uncomfortable but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't slip out. Maybe I was taking the wrong approach. I examined ow it was attached, taking note of the lock present. Locks need a key to open, and I don't have a key. What if I could use a key like object? My eyes wandered to the boxes in the corner of the room. The woman in the story I had read had used to paperclips. I opened the nearest box and unclipped two articles. Breathing out I began bending the metal to try and open the lock.

I had used fourteen paperclips and was onto my eighth hour of trying to unlock it. One paperclip was pressed at the bottom of the inside of the lock and the other was bent at a pick, trying to follow the clicking noises to move the pins into sequence. A satisfying snap echoed in the room as my ankle became free. I pulled the chain off and my rubbed my sore skin, reveling in the freedom. I went straight for the stairs, pushing the door open with ease and knocking over the plant that sat on top of it. If Eddie was going to keep me as a prisoner I was going to escape.
