CHAPTER 1

Charlie Brown sighed. Life wasn't easy for him. He couldn't fly a kite, kick a football, or even make any food (besides toast). Today was Valentine's Day. Charlie Brown grumped as he thought about it. He hated this day most of all. He remembered last Valentine's Day, when he got a used valentine from the girls at school. At first he was very happy when he got it, but looking back at the memory, getting a used valentine card wasn't as good as he thought it was. He unhappily sighed again. Nobody likes me, He thought as he got ready for school.

As he went downstairs for breakfast, he heard a familiar voice. "Good morning, big brother. Today is Valentine's Day. My sweet babboo is probably going to get me a wonderful valentine today. I would know since he likes me so much."

Charlie Brown rolled his eyes, as he heard Linus shout from a distance, "I AM NOT YOUR SWEET BABBOO!"

Charlie Brown grabbed his lunch and started walking to school, still sulking. His frown suddenly turned into a smile as he thought, Maybe the Little Red-Haired Girl will send me a valentine, He thought happily. But he went back to sulking after he told himself, Snap out of it, Charlie Brown! She doesn't like you! Never has, never will. You're nothing!

Maybe though, I could send her a Valentine! You're a genius! He told himself, as he met Linus and Lucy on his way to school. "Hi Linus, hi Lucy." He said to them.

"Hello, Blockhead." grunted Lucy.

"Hey there, Charlie Brown" greeted Linus. "Today's Valentine's Day. I'll bet your sister will be bugging me for a Valentine."

"That stupid Schroeder won't even notice me, since he's so busy with Beethoven and that dumb piano!" Lucy groaned.

"What are you gonna do for Valentine's Day, Charlie Brown?" Linus asked his friend. Charlie Brown slowed down a bit. "Hold on," he said. Knowing Lucy would put him down if she heard, he waited until Lucy was far ahead of them, and then he told Linus.

"I'm going to send a Valentine to the Little Red-Haired Girl."

"Oh, that's nice," Linus said. As they approached school, Linus told Charlie Brown, "I wish you the best of luck."

"Thanks, Linus," said Charlie Brown, as they walked into their classroom.
