Emma walked back downstairs and saw a note that was left on the table.
"Hello Emma, i ran back home to get dressed, meet me at the lake at 5pm"
Emma smiled as she took the note and walked back upstairs and put the note on her desk next to a single rose in a vase, she looked at the clock and realized it was only 4pm, she still had another hour until she had to meet Regina, she looked in her mirror and decided that her simple pants and a T-shirt would not do, she looked through her closet and found nothing but the dress she wore on her first date with Hook, she didn't want to think about a memory she still held dear to her heart when she was about to go and make a new one.
"Why is there nothing here?!"
She covered her face with her hands and shook her head, she suddenly got an idea.
At Regina's place
"Henry, where did you put my boots I asked you to pick up yesterday"
Henry looked at Regina and chuckled.
"Mom, you can't wear those old things on a date!"
Regina slightly shook her head as she moved her hair.
"Then what do I wear? I love those boots"
Henry smiled.
"Wear your blue heels"
Regina gave Henry a look of confusion.
"But I'm wearing purple"
Henry shrugged.
"Then wear blue, you're a queen again mom, go all out!"
Regina smiled as she nodded and turned around to go change into a sky blue dress.
At 5pm
Regina saw as Emma walked around the corner wearing a beautiful pink dress with rhinestones all over it, Emma saw Regina holding a rose wearing a sky blue dress with blue heels and the same blue flower Emma had left in her hair hours before.
"Hi"
Regina smiled.
"Hi"
Regina looked down and handed the rose to Emma.
"This, is for you, I thought I should give you one since you gave me a flower earlier"
Emma smiled.
"Thank you, I love your dress, I've never really seen you in blue, it's a nice color on you"
Regina gave Emma a big smiled as she touched her dress.
"Oh, thank you, Henry told me I should wear it"
Emma nodded.
"It's lovely"
Regina looked at Emma's outfit once more.
"Yours is stunning! Where did you get it"
Emma looked at her outfit then back at Regina.
"I made it, with my magic"
Regina nodded.
"It's amazing"
Emma stuck the rose in her bun that was sitting on top of her head.
"Now it has an accessory"
Regina smiled as she looked down at her feet.
"So, um, I set up a picnic just through the trees if you wanna, maybe go eat?"
Emma nodded.
"That sounds amazing"
They walked through the trees and Emma saw an area that had a floral print blanket and a picnic basket.
"It's perfect"
They sat down on the blanket and Regina took some stuff out of the basket.
"So Regina, I have a question"
Regina looked up as she set a bottle of wine on the blanket.
"What's up?"
Emma smiled her awkward smile.
"I was just wondering if you would maybe wanna go down to the docks tonight and look at the stars, I always wanted to but I never got a chance to before... Hook died"
Emma hung her head low, Regina put her hand under Emma's chin and lifted it to look into her eyes.
"Emma, it's ok to grieve, I'm still mourning the loss of Robin, I understand! And if you really want to, yes, I'd love to look at stars with you"
Emma smiled at Regina.
"Thank you"
Regina smiled.
"Now, do you want some wine or not?"
Emma nodded.
"Yes please"
After talking and eating they packed up and walked towards the docks.
"I haven't been down here since Hook died"
Emma felt Regina's arm behind her back and felt comfort.
"I understand, it took me weeks to go back to my office after Robin died"
Emma put her arm around Regina for comfort.
"He would be proud of the women you've become and all the things you've accomplished"
Regina sighed.
"Sometimes I feel guilty for loving you, I always have"
Emma nodded.
"I understand, I've felt guilty for it too, but I know Hook and Robin would have wanted us to be happy, and if that meant with each other they would have wanted that"
Regina smiled.
"I know"
Emma looked up in the sky and smiled.
"I know they're looking over us, I know that they are proud of us, I just still wish they were here"
Regina nodded.
"I do too"
She turned to face Emma directly.
"Look up at the sky, do you see those two stars?"
Emma nodded looking up at the sky that was almost completely pitch black.
"Yes"
Regina smiled and looked back up.
"I never noticed them until Hook and Robin died, every time I see those stars I feel a sense of comfort, I choose to believe that those stars are them watching over us, making sure we're ok, and telling us it's ok to move on"
Tears fell from Emma's face as she smiled and looked at Regina.
"I needed that, And you're right, I feel relief after looking at those stars, a feeling of contentment, they're ok, they're together, they're in a better place"
Regina smiled.
"They're ok Emma, they're ok!"
Tears fell from Regina's eyes.
"I love you"
Emma smiled, tears still falling from her eyes.
"I love you too!"
Regina set the picnic basket down and hugged Emma, Emma hugged her back burying her face into the crook of Regina's neck, she felt safe in that moment, she felt happy, she felt comfortable, and she felt the magic of true love.
