She angerly mopped away at the wooden deck furious at her captain who laid back and sucked on a lollipop happily.
She was a Warrant Officer which meant she dealt with the paperwork, the reading the writing of bounties, the knowing of the pirates and their powers, not the flipping cleaning! The only reason she had to sway back and forth with the rhythm of the mop was that one of the chore boys had gotten sea-sick and she stole one of the Captains lollipops to make him feel better, and this was her punishment.
She shook her head and looked towards the man who sat back relaxing, her body sore from her scrubbing. As she watched him sip his hot tea with his pinkie out, she made a point to one day break that pinkie.
However, the gruesome thought (that made her smile) was soon blown away with the wind that now rustled her pulled back hair. She sighed away her anger as the wind continued to blow. She then let out a softer smile as she continued to work.
But suddenly as a delayed reaction to the wind she looked up and stared at the large mast above them.
The wind was coming from the South and their sails where tilted to the West. This was not the way they where supposed to be going. She furrowed her eyebrows.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid." She whispered at the sails and then glared towards the captain. "This is stupid." She mumbled again this time taking big breath and as it filled her body, she let it out again
She didn't mind the idea of leadership; she didn't mind the Marines moto either it was nice to have something to hold on to and have people look up to you for protection. There were just things she would rather being doing. That included not this.
Even now as she daydreamed, while leaning on her mop, of taking to the sea in search of adventure ahead she could feel the weight of the burden she carried hold her down. Yet it was nice to hold on to her dream.
She let a small smile come across her puffy cheeks at the idea. She even looked to the sea once more smiling before her dream was ended by a crude shout.
"Officer Domino I told you to swab!" The voice stated. She snapped her head back towards the stern man. Who, dressed in the standard Marine uniform, marched down the stairs descending rather quickly to the main deck she stood on.
She looked down at the spot she'd been mopping and shrugged "I am." She responded rather coldly. The man who she called only by Captain had now made it at least halfway towards her as she dipped the mop back in the bucket of dirt and soap and calmly rang it out to place the mop back down in the same spot.
His footsteps echoed in her ears and she twitched slightly at his annoying voice, "No! It looks like to me you are staring in to space! I took you under my wing at request of the Navy's Hero which means you must obey me and what I say." The man yelled as he now stood face to face with her.
She used her honey orbs to stare in to his brown dull ones and frowned as she had to look down at the thin sickly man who twirled a lollipop in his mouth like a child as he stared at her a finger in her face. He was shorter then her by a few inches and only now as they stood face to face did he realize that he had to look at her and it disgusted him.
"Why can't I do both?" She asked honestly. If Garp had taught her anything it was honesty. The man looked at her blankly for a moment before he quickly snatched the mop away from her.
She let him take it really. But she played along. "Because you have been in the same spot for an hour now. I expected this to be done 30 minutes ago." The man stated shaking his head and moving the bucket and the mop to a new spot, she just slowly turned watching him. She now leaned on one leg slightly and pouted.
"I would be if people would stop walking through it!" She shouted back at him. Her heavy voice carrying through the open deck as a crowd gathered to watch. The Captain stopped and rubbed his temples mumbling to himself, "This is why we shouldn't allow rejects."
She heard this and clinched her fist hiding it carefully by her leg.
The captain looked at her "Who has walked through here so that you can't mop? Tell me and I'll fire them right now!" He yelled.
She tilted her head and then smiled "You." She stated quickly and calmly. The Captain looked at her with a blank stare. Then looked at the wet floor sign she had placed in front of the spot he just walked through.
He sighed and then roughly set the mop bucket down. She watched as the water splashed out and felt a tick mark grown on her forehead as the man began to speak again.
"Listen here smart ass you need to do as I say I am your commanding officer you listen to what I say. When I say..."
She began walking towards him a small aura around her as she rolled her eyes. "Fine." She stated with a final tone to her voice. Quickly before he could retort she snatched the mop back from him and began to mop at the new spot this time with an angry twist of the hips and mumbling as she did it.
The Captain stared as her body swayed with the mop. Her curved but muscular body seemed almost fluid as she did so even though her voice was always jagged and rough. He looked with distaste at her sleeves being slightly rolled back and Hated that her skirt barely rustled with her motions.
He growled to himself as the other recruits looked back and forth with a nervousness. He threw up his hand and yelled "Back to work!" Quickly they all snapped back to their jobs. He caught a slight glimpse of the disgruntle warrant officer rubbing her temples at his raised voice and shook his head as he headed back towards his chair. Thinking to himself and wondering why he was stuck with not just her but the other one as well.
Garp had lent her and another crew member out to him, in an attempt, to show them some of the new world. However, he was not aware how strong these two were. Especially his Warrant Officer not only did she have potential, but she was too smart for his own good.
Which is why he must keep her down. Keep her from moving up if she takes more steps out of line he'll have to keep his position. Whatever it takes he'll have to do it.
As if on cue a battle cry came from above the crow's nest. "Captain, Pirates!" A solider called. Quickly his eyes danced on the vast sea and scouted what was in fact a large ship that almost compared to one of the battleships in the Marine fleet.
He stared at aw in this ship and quickly asked "How long until interception!?" To the man in the crow's nest. "About 10 mins sir!" He yelled back.
The captain nodded and the frowned when he heard quick footsteps run up the stairs. He only closed his eyes preparing for the worst to be said.
"Captain I urge you, please think again that flag belongs to the Whitebeard pirates we'll have no way of defeating them!" Domino stated holding her mop close to her chest as a form of protection. She caught her breath quickly since she had just dashed up the stairs and stood in front of him as an equal.
The captain shook his head "All hands prepare for battle! We are Marines trusted warriors of the sea! If we do not scourge the seas of these pirate scum, then no one will!" He yelled to watching eyes who all nodded and cheered a collective "Aye!" Then scurried below deck.
The captain looked towards the warrant officer and shook his head "Officer Domino if you do not wish to protect the citizens of the seas then you chose the wrong profession." He stated towards the woman.
She rolled her eyes and held out her hand as she spoke. "Listen I understand protecting the citizens; however we also can't just rush in unprepared, a group this big and notorious would wipe us in seconds. As it is we are in cannon range and can simply be blasted away in a matter of seconds. Then what sir?" She asked him, speaking quickly feeling her body tremble under her cool and calm tone. She could speak but not without the anxiety coursing through her chest tightening it.
The captain looked at her once more before shaking his head and raising his hands "We have the element of surprise boys!"
The crew cheered as Domino looked in shock and sighed running her hands through her hair then turning around to face defeat.
"Officer you are ordered to worry about swabbing this deck and that's it understood?" He stated as his eyes beamed towards the approaching ship which had now opened its cannon ports.
Domino looked at him in disbelief for a second before nodding and said a simple "Aye." Before descending towards the main deck.
And there she stood and mopped as cannons blasted over her head and around the ship. So far as she could see no damage had been done to the tiny Marine ship in comparison to the Gigantic ship that now sideswiped them. She threw a hand to her left and embraced for impact as the yelling and firing of the cannons commenced.
She watched in awe as Marines filled the vast open deck and looked down as the water in her bucket had spilled out causing a bigger puddle at her feet.
She could hear the battle cries of Pirates and Marines alike and felt the urge to jump in and fight. Yet she sat there and listened to the overwhelming sounds that rung in her ears and stared at the floor holding the mop so tight she could hear it start to crack. "I just mopped here." She mumbled as she took the water that spilled and tried to sweep it off the ship when another jolt to the ship sent her in to the rail.
Marco scanned the marine ship un-amused as his brothers jumped over the side eager for any battle. "You're not going to join the fun?" Thatch asked as he to leaned over the rail watching the carnage. The marines fought hard causing many injuries however as Marco and Thatch both knew nothing would really be damaging.
"Nah-yoi. How about you?" Marco asked calmly.
Thatch shrugged "If someone strong peaks my interest i'll jump in I suppose." He stated with a smile crossing his hands and leaning over the rail slightly.
Marco smiled "Or if there is a woman on the ship-yoi." Marco stated nonchalantly towards his best friend.
Thatch smirked then shrugged "It's only right to protect a woman from the evils of the Marines." He stated with a quirk in his eyebrow.
Marco scoffed "What about the evils of a pirate-yoi?" Marco asked with a knowing smirk as Thatch faked tossed his head back. "Please, I am never evil...(He noticed Marcos knowing stare and smirked) to a woman." Thatch added throwing his hands behind his head. "I'ma go make sure the lines are tight let me know if there's a woman k?" He asked walking away.
Marco rolled his eyes and nodded. Then continued to scan the small ship seeing a deck of nothing but white uniforms. The guns and swords alike causing smoke and sparks to strike up on the ship. Lazily his gaze went over the deck until he saw her. His head picked up in curiosity as he called to Thatch "Hey, woman-yoi." He stated faking his intrested tone.
Thatch rushed over and almost throwing himself over the railing before Marco grabbed the back of his shirt collar and tugged him back. "Where?" He called out.
Marco let go of his shirt and motioned to the curious looking woman who seemed to be preoccupied with swabbing the deck. Expertly dodging and moving around the stray bullets.
Her black hair was pulled tightly back behind her ears reveling round cheeks and what looked like a frown. The upper half of her body seemed as if it were flatter then d's but her waist curved in and out giving her lower legs and thighs a more robust look.
Thatch made a face "I can't see where?" He asked already getting ready to jump ship. Then Thatch shrugged and threw himself over. "Oh well."
Marco watched as his friend glided seamlessly over to the ship but spoke only to himself. "She's beautiful-yoi." as he disembarked Whitebeards ship and took to the sky.
Domino tried not to look at the battle as she heard cries of pain and fight. She wanted to rush in to fight. She wanted to show off her skills and learn and grow more. Give everyone a taste of the only reason she was offered so many positions but instead she stuck to her mopping. Orders where orders, even if she disliked it.
She saw a sandal reflecting in the puddle she had cleaned and took a deep breath before looking up to see her eyes meet two blue orbs with a laid back look and golden blonde hair.
She blinked at the man who seemed confident and seemed to radiate strength. "I just mopped that?!" She growled to herself. Letting her smile grow in anticipation of a fight. Or the presence of such a man. It was as if he was glowing before her. Which only antagonized her more.
"And-yoi?" The man asked turning his head slightly with the question.
She blinked as smoke rose from below deck and more Marines came up coughing and gripping their coats to save them before entering the fight. "I'm busy." She stated grumpily as she went back to mopping.
The voice which was deep and almost hypnotizing spoke again, "Why are you mopping when your comrades are dying-yoi?" He asked.
That question pierced through her as she finally looked in to see the carnage that was beginning to show. She took in a gasp and snapped her eyes towards him then back to the crew that struggled and where slowly starting to get cornered against the smoking doors. She took one finale breath and looked towards the puddle the man stood in and fully gazed at his exposed chest and rolled her eyes slightly once more.
"I just fucking flipping mopped this god damn deck!" She yelled out. The outburst caused an almost silence between the two crews as Marco smirked at her.
"Get Off This Fucking Deck!" She yelled. The pirates looked at her in shock as Thatch pulled out his blade from a fallen marine and looked at how Marco took his next step. Marco had lifted his foot and almost stomped the floor splashing the deck around his feet. Thatch thought to himself for a moment 'What a way to flirt pineapple'.
However, That motion alone was enough to cause the woman to snap the mop. Thatch watched as the lone Marine quickly moved towards Marco at speeds that where almost unmatched if he himself wasn't trained for it. Still Marco stood there without fear as two lines appeared from where she sliced him from the wood.
He watched as Marco's flames engulfed the area and could hear Marcos light chuckle. "Ouch that hurt-yoi." He called after to her.
Thatch barley had time to pull his thoughts back together as a quick knife came down on his face leaving a cut that lead down and began to bleed.
He gripped it and stepped back "Oh Shit!" He stated looking up at a woman with red hair who unlike the taller dark haired woman was a petite red haired beauty. "Distracted are we?" She asked.
Thatch looked at his hand that had his blood on it and smiled taking his shirt and wiping it off and gripping his katana tighter. "Only by your beauty." He stated with a smirk.
A chorus of Marine cheers filled Marcos ears as he slowly turned toward where the woman should be only to see her expertly flipping over and punching his brothers away from the trapped Marines.
"Warrant officer Domino! Ensign Adaline! We're saved!" They cheered.
Marco looked as the one who he assumed to be Domino punch one man away and shot out her right arm with the wooden half of the mop to have the very end pierce through two of his men. "Shut up you idiots we're not done yet. Pick up your swords or go below deck and fix this ship!" She yelled.
They nodded with "Aye!" as they rushed towards the battle. Marco smiled as bullets went through him to the marines shock.
He continued to walk. "Hey save your bullets, That's the phoenix. Your bullets and shit won't work." She stated as she tossed a man towards Marcos feet.
The marines trembled but loaded their guns. Marco knelled down and let his flames heal the man who held his arm in pain. "So you know who I am-yoi?" He asked slightly looking up at her.
The girl stood up straighter and nodded "Of course. It's my Job to know all the pirates, especially the ones that pose a real threat to their (Pointed towards the marines) Justice." She stated tightening her fists. Marco watched as she stood proud and with poise waiting for his move.
He looked at her "Then if you know who I am, it's only fair that I know your name-yoi." He called across to her giving a regal look.
Domino smirked and thightened her grip on the wood twisting her wrists as she seemed to bounce on her heels. "Names Domino, Now are you gonna fight or just stand there with that dumb look on your face?" She taunted.
He almost took the bait to jump in and fight when another yell interrupted "Dom!"
Marco looked, from the noise, towards Domino and watched as she slightly bent down in a chance to move. Quickly he perused Appearing before her with a smirk. Only to have her reach towards his neck and press down. A shock flowing through his body.
He looked down confused as the shock sparked his body. The tingling sensation sent a new pain and froze him in his tracks. He watched as the woman rushed past him laughing.
"Adaline!" Domino yelled as she landed in front of the red-haired woman who staggered back holding her right arm in pain.
Domino quickly grabbed Adaline's jacket and waved it in the air tossing up the smoke of the guns and pushing it towards the pompadoured man who covered his eyes. "Ada whats up how we looking?" She asked as she quickly punched people away from the woman. Holding on to her with one arm.
Domino quickly pulled her piece of broom to catch a dagger that had been thrown. And took a deep breath as the knife was stopped inches from her eyes.
She looked down at the petite red head who seemed unfazed by the battle that ensued. "Well Captains looking..."
She looked towards the upper deck where the captain lay unconscious. "Um...Gone he's. Yeah he's gone." She stated sadly. Pushing another man away from her.
Domino leaned down and grabbed a dead man's katana mumbling "you don't need that," and stood up taking a sharp stance towards the growing group of men. She watched as her Marines started to fall back once more and the ship continued to shake.
Parts of the railing where blown off and scattered around the deck as swords clashed and guns fired. She ran her hand through her hair once more and looked at her red haired counter part who also surveyed the area. "If we keep up like this then we'll never make it out." Adaline stated sternly as she fended off a straggler.
Domino nodded as she carefully used her right broomstick as a shield fending off swords and opening up slightly to lunge and stab with the katana in her left and repeat the process while her legs stood poised and balanced "You know what's worse?" She asked with a smile as she watched the blonde, open shirt and rippling abs, watch her from the side line.
Adaline caught a breath and began to pant, "Ah...What?"
Domino lunged forward once more and quickly blocked another sword and pulled Adaline by the collar out of the way with a small gasp before collecting herself. "They're just toying with us." Domino stated with a vicious smile. So much so that it seemed scary.
Once again she smacked someone out of the way her chest burning from the smoke. "Dom," Adaline stated punching away another man,
"Yeah?" She responded with a smile and a bounce in her step the excitement catching up to her.
"I think it's time you stopped playing around too?" She stated now being forced back to back to each other. Domino smiled even wider a tingling sensation driving through her fingers in anticipation of using her devil fruit. Her devil fruit wasn't meant to be an evil one in fact if used properly it could probably be one of beauty. Yet she had other things in mind for it.
She pulled back her weapons and looked down at the ship. "I can't yet I need more dirt in the air." She whispered before holding out her weapon's again and pushing against a man who's blades now crossed hers.
Adaline shook her head as she reached for her gun and to shot the man Domino was pushing away. "That damned fool, he just killed us." Adaline stated with a grunt and a pull of the trigger again dropping two men with one bullet before she quickly cocked the gun again and unloaded it on to the oncoming pirates.
"Took you long enough to use that thing." Domino mumbled barely giving her friend a side glance.
Adaline shrugged as she ducked to have Domino stretch out a wing and smack a guy away from her. "I wanted to try using my daggers but if we're going to die I might as well stop playing too." She stated standing up and aiming.
Domino took a step back as she rolled her eyes. Kneeling for a second to force her devil fruit to work. She felt a tug on her chest as if it was going to burst before she imagined her devil fruit as waves pulsing through her body relaxing it and letting it flow. "If you're so desperate to do that then we must be in trouble." She stated with a smile nodding to her friend to look towards the sails that magically were still in-tack.
Adaline took another desperate breath as her muscles began to burn. "Hey... What are you doing?" she asked unsure of the kneeling woman's mad plan.
Domino stood straight and as if ignoring the world closed her eyes. Adaline jumped to her friends aid and blocked multiple cheap stabs. Dropping men with each shot. "The winds changing." Domino stated mystically. Adaline turned her head lightly. "What's your plan?" She asked she could see the small indent in the wood from where she used her devil fruit.
Adaline saw as her friends brown orbs shot open with a fire in her eyes. "Get below deck, tell the crew to put one round in the cannons..."
"But why.."
"Just dump the rest and anything else heavy, tell them to immediately have the paddles ready and have the helms men ready to turn on my command." Domino stated her head searching for the yellow haired wonder.
Adaline looked at her friend one last time thinking of questioning her before shrugging as the sounds of battle began to dim.
"We're dead ether way might as well try right?" Domino asked almost reading Adalines mind.
Adaline shook her head one more time as she turned to run. "Yeah but I rather you be right then wrong." She spoke as she took a mad dash to below deck pulling three men away with her.
"Retreat below below!" She shouted waving her arms.
Domino twisted the sword one more time in her hand as the pirate to Marine ratio began to dwindle. The Marines began to throw down their weapons and hold out their hands rushing past Domino who stood her ground. The ringing of each blade thrown down hurt her ears and her pride. She took a deep breath and looked at the pirates who now tried to corner her.
"Your times up Marine." A big burly man with a tough voice stated. Domino mocked fear. "Oh no I'm...so...so sorry." She stuttered.
"Look at her she's trembling." Another stated.
Marco watched from a far once more to intrigued to intervene. He watched as four men form Vistas division corned the oddity and looked at the other Marines who looked on in fear.
"Domino's...She's cornered."
"There's no hope."
Marco turned his head a straight face donned on him upon hearing those words. The battle was but won now and the last of the marines had yet to be squashed. He didn't expect much more of a fight with their captain gone and the rest below deck. Yet there was something that felt off.
"Ple...please don't hurt me.." The girl cried. He watched as he could hear the faint mockery in her tone. He watched her closer noticing that she slowly walked closer and closer to the edge of the ship where a gaping hole stood. If he looked carefully he could see what looked like a yellow rose blooming from the side of the deck.
Marco looked on and began to approach the cornered marine. "Why don't you cut that out-yoi." He stated to her as his feet left a distinct sound silencing the deck. "It's not cute on you."
Domino let out a "Tck." Sound and snapped her head towards him. "Well you just won't let me have any fun will ya?" She asked him with a blood thirsty smile. He stopped just feet from her unfazed by the questionable glances he received.
"If your idea of fun is making yourself look weak then by all means continue-yoi." He stated waving his hand. She Once again took another step glancing slightly at the cornered Marines who by now had disappeared below deck. She ran her hands through her now dirty and matted hair one more time and shook her head.
Marco continued "Or you can have some real fun and join us-yoi." He stated with a smile holding out his hand.
She blinked blankly as the gathering of Pirates and Marines alike yelled "WHAT!"
She looked at his hand and felt a pang of guilt. Not for turning him down. Not for being stronger than the others. But for the sole fact she wanted to. She felt a force in her body suddenly cave at how badly she wanted to be free. But the mark on her back burned reminding her of the deal she had to keep and for a second found herself pulling away from the man.
"I would love to. But I can't." She stated softly and seriously. The response took Marco by surprise as he saw her reluctance to say no. He then looked at the gaping hole in the side and could feel the breeze begin to shift. And suddenly he knew her plan and waited a mere second for her to jump. But once again saw hesitation and smirked.
"Fine then-yoi." He stated before lifting up his leg and pushing her back with a confident kick.
The Marine crew watched helplessly as the woman fell back silently her body tripping and tumbling until her body plummeted towards the sea. A scared expression on her face.
The pirate crew stood there shocked as the battle racket finally ceased. A small chore boy looked down ashamed of that woman for falling and even more ashamed of their failure. What was a Marine if they couldn't fight off one ship of louses?
The Marines all looked down shame covering their eyes as the pirates began to put up their weapons and collect their men. All with cheers and their own chatter. Marco calmly walked over to the edge a small smile graced his lips.
When suddenly the eerie silence was broken as a woman's voice called out "Fucking fire already!"
In mere seconds a barrage of cannons rang out shaking both ships. A chore boy shot his eyes towards the blonde who had kicked Domino and watched as the man yelled "The ship-yoi!" He waved his arms and flew off into the smoke.
"Com'on." Someone yelled as they to jumped off the side and disappeared. One by one they followed quickly retreating to check the damage. Leaving the Marines to their own devices. Suddenly a shadow appeared over the ship almost blocking the sun. A woman stood above them holding on to what looked like a giant rose bud sprouting from the sea.
"Don't just stand there, those of you able turn the sails to the south, the rest go below deck and start rowing! Go! Go!" She yelled as the bud began to decay and she jumped clumsily from the plant. She landed with a small tumble before rushing to the starboard side where the Whitebeard's stared in awe.
The chore boy watched as Domino rubbed her hands together and placed them on what was left of the railing.. Suddenly a mesh of vines and flowers sprouted up from between the two ships from what almost seemed like the sea itself pushing the ships apart and cracking the boards of both ships. The vines, so dense it was nearly impossible to see the ship on the other side and what cannon fire was shot must have been deflected under rows and rows of rose bushes that now grew.
Quickly the Marines snapped from the view of giant roses and in a mere second the sails unraveled, and the ship lurched forward and began to pick up speed as the rowers began to push the very waves aside.
The chore boy watched as the vines in the distance seemed to decay reveling what seemed to be confused pirates.
He watched as Domino coughed and pointed towards obstacles on the deck and called out new orders. All while looking over her shoulder to see if they were being perused. She quickly snapped her head towards him and pointed "Quit your gawking sailor! Either help with the holes down below or the sails up here your choice." She snapped. The chore boy shook his head "Im...I'm just a chore boy." He shouted towards her.
She quickly walked towards him and let a small smile, a crimson trail of blood now falling from her lips. She placed a hand on his shoulder "Doesn't matter right now. Just get something done." She stated with a smile before pushing him away towards a door as other Marines rushed out to ask her questions.
Domino ran her head through her hair and looked back over her shoulder once more staring at the immobilized ship behind them. She found herself slowly moving towards the railing to have one last glimpse at freedom. Before she stopped hearing the gathering of frantic Marines.
"Adaline while the Captain's unconscious and the others in line are not accounted for you are in charge...What do we do?" A man asked.
Domino turned away from the sea's calming waves and noticed the thin petite woman look around for anyone or anything to save her, all while rubbing her shoulder tenderly. Domino sighed as she walked away form the edge and leaned down a bit to look at the girl with a caring face. "Hey you need medical attention.!" She stated calmly. Adaline looked up with hope at her friend's eye.
"I'll take over for you trust me okie?" Domino stated with a soft smile. Adaline smiled and held up her hand "My first order as intern Captain is to give all authority to Officer Domino." Adaline stated as she rushed away from the deck.
Domino starred towards the crew with a mischievous Smirk and giggle to herself. "So whats first?" She asked as an aura of doom lingered over the crew as they looked on towards their demon of a savior.
