Chapter 2 – F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Matt's POV

As Matt got into his truck and drove home he couldn't stop thinking about Sylvie. He thought about how he really enjoys spending time with her. At Cruz's wedding they walked down the aisle together, sat next to each other at the table and danced the whole night. Everything was so carefree and fun with her and he hasn't felt so good in a very long time. Even when he was married with Gabby there was always something missing. He felt alone and left out of all the important decisions. When Gabby left he was angry, pissed off and sad, but a samll part of him was also relieved. Relieved because he could start over and maybe be happy again. And then his relationship with Sylvie started to grow stronger.

He knew Sylvie was Gabby's best friend and they have spent a lot of time together over the years, but it wasn't until recently that he saw the woman for who she really was. Sylvie was like sunshine. She brought happiness to everyone around her and she was one of the most caring people he knew, but she was also fierce, funny, independent. She had so much goodness in her that Matt couldn't keep himself away from her anymore. He knew his feelings for Sylvie were more than a friend should feel. He was just scared to ruin the best relatioship he has ever had. At the same time every time Sylvie looked at him with her piercing blue eyes he wanted to kiss her. In his heart Matt knew that Sylvie was the one for her.

Suddenly Matt noticed that he has reached home and parked his truck. He fiddled with his keys and as he opened the door noticed that Severide and Kidd were in the kitchen making smoothies. Kidd saw Casey coming home and asked ''Hey, Captain. Where have you been all morning?''

Casey put away his jacket and answered ''Hi! I was helping Sylvie find a new going on here?''

''Oh, just making smoothies. Here, come grab one'' Stella Kidd paused, but then decided to ask ''So did Sylvie find a new apartment already?''

''Yeah, as a matter of fact she did. She decided to get a 1-bedroom apartment near the firehouse. It needs some minor plumbing work and extra shelving, but I promised to help her once she starts settling in'' Matt said as he was sipping on his smoothie.

Kidd raised her brows and looked over at Severide, who just laughed at Stella. Kelly did not want to get sucked into Casey's lovelife. He knew that Matt was a big boy and could make his own decisions. However he did agree that ever since Matt's relationship with Sylvie has gotten closer, Matt looked more relaxed and happy.

''Hey, man. Me and Stella are going to Molly's in the evening. Care to join us for a couple rounds of beer?'' Severide asked his best friend.

''Yeah, sure. I have to be at a construction place in a few hours, but I'll see you at Molly's tonight'' Matt replied as he gulped down the rest of the smoothie and went to his room.

Sylvie's POV

When Sylvie arrived back at her apartment she noticed Foster and Cruz were watching TV. She liked the sight, because it has been awhile since they were all at the apartment. She greeted them both and sat on the couch between her friends.

''What are we watching'' Sylvie asked.

''Friends marathon is about to start.''Foster said flicking the remote to the correct channel.

Sylvie liked the show. She grew up with it and it was one of her favourite 90's television show. The first season of the show just ended when Foster quickly got up to face her friends and said ''We should go out and have fun! We've been cooped up in this apartment all day and we should all use a few drinks. Let's go to Molly's. Who's with me?'' She was so excited she started jumping up and down.

Joe and Sylvie laughed. Joe shrugged his shoulders and said ''I'm in. Let me call my wife and see if she wants to join us. I'm supposed to get the last of my stuff to her place anyway so we could meet you both there'' Joe got up to call Chloe.

Sylvie stayed on the couch, looked at Foster and said ''Sure, why not. Let me get ready''

''YES!'' Foster threw her hands up in the air. Sylvie got up from the couch and Foster smacked her ass saying ''Put on something sexy in case Captain is there''. Foster winked at her and skipped to her room.

Sylvie's mouth was open with surprise at her friends words and she couldn't even reply before Foster was out of sight. She got to her room and thought to herself. Why not? I'm a sexy single woman in Chicago. She opened up her closet and started looking for something sexy. Not for the captain, but for herself. And if the Captain happened to be there, then thats fine.

Sylvie picked up a lacy little black dress with a sweetheart neckline and red heels. She applied some red lipstick to her lips and some mascara and eyeliner. Just as she was sone Foster came to her room and asked if she was ready to go. She had already called for an Uber.

Sylvie got her bag and keys and they were off to Molly's.
