NOTES | Inner Wolf | Alpha Order | 'Talking in Mind Link'

Chapter Five | Forks High

.

Paul heaved a small sad sigh as he walked back down the steps and towards Emily's kitchen. He smiled bright and held up the empty plate for Emily to take. "Em . . . she likes pie. And she loves apple pie." He smiled brightly and sat down next to Sam.

Emily giggled softly. "So does that mean you are going to keep an apple pie in my house at all times?" Her eyes sparkled as she stared at the Alpha of their pack. She grinned and took a seat at the kitchen table. They had come very far. She could still remember the day Paul came to her terrified out of his mind. "I have fur and a fucking tail Emily! It still made her laugh.

"Don't give me that look." Paul grumbled as he looked down at the table in front of him.

Emily smiled sweetly. "Sorry honey." Her eyes twinkled as she winked. "I can't help it." Mischief cluttered her dark brown eyes. "And you will be buying the apple pie." She laughed at the look she received.

Sam chuckled. "Yeah, she's your girl . . . you buy."

"That's fine." Paul nodded his head eagerly. Like he would turn down that chance. It was something small . . . trivial. But he would do it - it made her happy, which made him happy.

Jacob shook his head. "You are so whipped."

Paul glared at Jacob.

Jacob's ears tweaked as he heard his alpha's low and deadly growl. "I'm gonna go . . . Stop by Dad's and eat." Jacob swallowed. "Later Em!"

Paul and Sam chuckled as they watched Jacob leave. Paul stood minutes later, "Alright . . . I'm gonna run by Sue's real quick - I got a couple questions - then start my patrol." He smiled at Emily and pulled her in a quick hug. "Make friends with her for me Em, she's gonna need one." His voice was soft as he murmured in against her. "I can feel it."

.

Next Day

Paul smiled brightly like a child on Christmas morning. "Morning Em!" He couldn't help but smile. He had been smiling since yesterday. Paul was positive that he had gone to sleep smiling.

The rest of the pack froze. Their alpha was smiling - smiling at 7 in the morning. Unnatural - that's what it was. Eerie too. Their wolves were not sure how to react to it.

Seth took a cautious step forward. "Um . . . Boss?" He blinked a few times as he put Emily between them. That smile looked a little homicidal, threatening and so out of place.

Sam chuckled, "our alpha imprinted."

A couple shouts and some clapping was heard in the kitchen.

"Who?"

Paul smiled brightly. "Nicole."

"Oh," Jared laughed. "Good luck."

He scowled softly.

Sam glanced at Emily before giving his full attention to Paul. "Um . . .Paul," Emily licked her dry lips and smiled sweetly as she ushered him towards the kitchen table were a plate of food was already waiting. "We wanted to talk." She glanced at her husband before continuing. "We have something we need to tell you."

"Yes we do," Sam murmured as he sat down next to Paul, Emily in his arms. "You woke Nicole up right?"

She nodded before looking pointedly at Paul. "No getting angry. I don't care if your alpha or not. You mess up my kitchen - and no one will be able to keep you safe from me." She pointed an index finger at him in warning. She was never going to be one to let the wolves walk on her.

Paul frowned but nodded. He picked up his fork, he loved Emily's scrambled cheese eggs.

"First - we want you to take her to school and pick her up." Emily started off. It was better to soften him up first. She had learned that a very long time ago. It had worked for her so far . . . Thankfully.

Paul smiled brightly and nodded his head vigorously. Did they really think he was going to pass up special time with her? He would be able to spend time with her without having to really force her to spend time with him. What idiot what say no?

Sam gulped. This is not going to be easy. Maybe we should have told him while he was eating.

"Paul, honey," Emily soothed sweetly as she motioned for him to take a bite of the potato skillet. "Nicole," she swallowed. "She is going to be attending Forks High." She smiled sweetly and blinked innocently. The look would have led the others to believe she had been talking about the weather not dropping a metaphorical bomb the size of east Texas on top of their Alpha.

Paul froze, a small growl rumbled in his chest. "Like hell she is." He snarled. "Not with them." He shook his head and didn't hid the tremble that coursed through him. His wolf was angry and so was he. Paul didn't want her that far away. didn't want her near those leeches.

"Paul," Emily's eyes narrowed as she watched the tremor surge through his massive body.

Sam heaved a sigh. "I know. We all know it's neutral territory." He winced at the look he received. "For the most part."

"Paul," Emily frowned. "Why are you so angry about her going to Forks High?" Her eyes narrowed as she studied him, Paul used to be irrational. But after he took over as alpha - he had changed. There was a difference and they all saw it, not just her. "I know you don't like the Cullens . . . but that isn't just stemmed from them."

"Lauren is there." Paul growled, another tremor rushed through him.

Emily frowned in confusion. "Lauren?"

"The crazy, psycho, clingy ass bitch. Remember I went on one date." Paul grimaced as he looked at Emily. "Remember?" She had been hot and legal. But damn, he hadn't known what he was getting into. "Girlfriend and slave." He made air quotes around the phrase. His lips pulled back in a sneer. "She found a couple of my baby pictures to find out what our children would look like."

Emily frowned. "Hun, there is nowhere else. La Push High is full." She patted Paul on the arm. She remembered that one. Had to practically shove her off of her porch. Lauren was a clingy loony.

Paul frowned. "Can't Seth, Jacob, Jared, Quil, Embry, or someone else dropout?" He looked around with hopeful eyes. He heaved a sigh as Emily glared. "I know . . ." He growled, "if Lauren finds out Nicole knows me . . .we're screwed. And if she hurts her...she's dead." The edges of the alpha wolf blurred slightly.

The others shrunk back slightly. An angry wolf was scary. An angry wolf, who's upset because their imprint is hurt - was scarier. But . . . an angry ALPHA WOLF who's upset because their imprint is hurt - Now that is just plain shit scary, that's a type of scary that hasn't even been labeled yet.

"Paul," Emily carefully put a hand on his shoulder. "She is a tough cookie." She smiled sweetly as she watched the other wolves reach for plates and grab at the food she had cooked. Her eyes narrowed as the atmosphere changed. Emily glared ass he stalked over to one of the wolves. She whacked Embry on the back of the head. "I will never feed you again if you do not save food for Nicole." She waved her spatula dangerously. in his face.

. . .

Knock. Knock.

Loveless groaned and rolled over in the bed. She wasn't in the mood for whoever was at the door. Maybe they would get her drift and leave her the hell alone. She was going to blow a gasket soon if she wasn't left alone without the need to freaking play the Polite Game.

"Ni-Nicole?"

"What?" Loveless snapped through the door. Apparently she wasn't going to get her wish. So the others needed to understand she wasn't going to play nice either. It was the Polite Game. No one said she had to sound nice.

"I made breakfast. . ." Emily trailed off. She bit her lower lip and kept herself from opening the door. Loveless would not be a happy camper.

"I'll be down soon." With a small sigh, she flung the covers back and set her once warm toes onto the cold wooden floor. she walked towards the window, her icy blue eyes glared at the woods. I have an official distaste for woods - and green, green and brown. She held her hand out and touched the window. Loveless yelped and retracted her hand - a shiver coursed through her body. Crap, I don't have a thick enough jacket. She bit her lower lip. I'm going to freeze.

She glared at the forest once more before moving towards her bathroom. I had forgotten. She grimaced as she looked at the teal, white, and black colors. Anyone who knew her, they would know she would not have picked those colors. Not for a single second.

Loveless breathed out as she forced herself to calm down. She glanced at the lone house once more at the end of the cul-de-sac. It looked bleak all by itself surrounded by the forest. Lost and alone. She shook her head and turned her back to the window. From her position in front of the window next to the wicker chair she was facing the door. Her nose scrunched.

To her left was a large bed locked in with a dark wooden nightstand on either side. To her right was a long and narrow sliding door closet. With a dark wooden vanity that sat in the corner - paired with the white wicker chair. There was a long eight drawer dresser running along the wall with the door leading to the rest of the house. The door that was positioned between the nightstand and dresser was the bathroom.

It wasn't a bad layout. It just wasn't the ideal choice in colors.

After washing, Loveless stepped out of the shower tub set as she pulled the white curtain out of her way. She dried off quickly before making her way back into her room and towards the inset closet - on the right outside of the bathroom door. Loveless bit her lower lip as she contemplated her outfit.

In the end she choose a black and white checkered button up shirt with sleeves to the elbow, a pair of high waist black skinny jeans, and black ballet flats with a little white bow on top. Laying them on the bed, Loveless then moved to the dresser to grab her under garments.

After dressing, she went back to her dresser and grabbed her 'beloved' choker that James had given her. 'An early birthday present . . . since you have to leave me and go to your brother's.' She smiled slightly at the memory. She fingered the choker gently. I miss you James. It was a simple black strip of silk material with blood ruby that rested at the base of her throat.

Loveless walked back towards her bathroom and applied a light amount of foundation - completely hiding the almost invisible scar along her jaw on the right side. Loveless added smokey grey eye-shadow and black mascara and eyeliner. She applied a clear lip gloss. She smacked her lips and smiled at her reflection. With a sigh she grabbed her plain grey messenger bag.

. . .

She hid her smirk as she heard a loud thud. Somebody just got bitch slapped. Loveless stifled a yawn and moved into the kitchen - she wanted to go back to sleep.

"Embry if you don't leave some food for Nicole. . . I will not feed you again." Emily exclaimed as she waved her spatula dangerously in his face. She was not afraid to use it. Emily had used to on them before. She found it the easiest tool against the hungry animals.

"Em!" the younger whined. Embry let his lower lip jut out as he widened his eyes. "I'm so hungry."

Loveless stepped into the kitchen - making her presence known. "You can eat it." Her eyes narrowed as she watched them watch her.

Everyone froze.

"But," Emily began to protest.

Loveless shook her head. "I don't eat breakfast." She shrugged, "where am I going to school?" She stood at the entrance. Loveless felt out of place standing in the room with them. They all seemed like family. Loveless wasn't.

Sam looked up, "Forks High."

Loveless frowned.

"La Push High is full," Emily supplied for her.

"Then who is taking me?"

Paul stood, "I am, Sam has to get to work."

Loveless nodded. "let's go."

OKay?
