Chapter 13 -

Misty's POV

I don't know how I stayed calm while everyone else freaked out.

One, I didn't care how I looked; I didn't care about Ash or Gary or Drew or Paul.

Or do you?

And, I was beyond angry. Why, why WHY?! You can't just go, "Hey," when you literally broke into someone's dorm!

You're pleased. Now Ash is going to bother you and you are going to like it.

May and Dawn did the obvious thing: ran through the passage to their dorm. I could've sworn I saw Paul's eyes following Dawn in her PJs...stupid pervert.

You're jealous.

"Mist!" Ash tried to tackle me in a hug. Instinctively I grabbed Starmie's PokeBall and tossed it in the air. "Starmie, Rapid Spin!"

Not instincts.

Ash was knocked out. Drew, Paul, and Gary moved out of the dorm before getting hit. Hmph. I wished those boys were as dumb as Ash.

Just love.

"Misty!" Leaf hissed.

I slammed the door in their faces. Except Ash's. Leaf sighed and I rolled my eyes.

Then we heard Dawn screech and something breaking in the other dorm. Oh, great. What have those girls gotten themselves into?

And when can I sleep?

I glared at the sleeping Ash, but my anger dissipated faster than I wanted. His cute, adorable face and naive voice could calm me down better than I could myself. I didn't realize I was staring until Leaf said, "Aww, our little Misty has a crush," in a singsong voice.

"No, I don't," I said in a calm voice. I knew Leaf wanted a reaction, maybe a blush. But I wasn't gonna give her that. No, I wouldn't.

Leaf's disappointed face told me enough. I dragged Ash to the door and peered out. Yay, no one there. Probably busy harassing May and Dawn.

I left Ash out there then closed the door and set a chair against it.

"Misty, we have to make a petition," Leaf sighed.

We hurried to May's and Dawn's room. The glass fan on the ceiling, which usually gave off lots of vibrant light, was shattered. I stepped on a shard of glass and nearly cursed. I heard Drew's and Paul's sneering from down the hall. May was crying and Dawn was furiously opening the windows for fresh air.

"Misty! Leaf!" Dawn yelled.

"What?" Leaf asked.

"You could've prevented this!" There was an anger in the Sinnoh girl's voice that I'd never heard before, not even with Paul.

"How were we supposed to know Drew and Paul trashed your room?" Leaf retorted.

"We were screaming for help!" May snapped. She picked up a photo with a frame. It was shattered and I could barely make out the details in the dark. "Mom, Dad, and Max mailed this to me, but it went to Drew instead! I got it and put it back but then he and Paul broke it!" Her voice cracked.

I bit my lip from screaming in frustration. What? I did hear her screaming, but they always scream.

"But-"

"Shut up!" Dawn shouted. "Go away! We never want to see your ugly faces again!"

Ouch. "Dawn-" I started, but May threw her shattered portrait at me and the glass dug into my skin. I covered it with my arm before blood could spill out.

Leaf was crying now. "Fine! Do whatever you want, see if I care!" She stormed back to our dorm. I followed her, sudden anger boiling inside me. How could we have known they were in trouble? They scream ALL THE TIME! They could've yelled, "Misty, Leaf, help!"

Part of me thought that. But the smaller part of me knew that it was our fault. Screams were bad enough. We heard something break. Now, our friendship was severed.

I slammed the door to the passage and fashioned a bolt out of my notebook covers. Then I placed it on the door and wrote:

RESTRICTED AREA. DON'T GO, DANGER.
