Better Days

Chapter 359

Author's Note: These updates aren't so bad for me being in the hospital huh? I'm an early morning riser, so I write before and after class. I think we need some Rick and Jewel time. Maybe not a whole chapter, but after that whole thing with Carter, I think it's appropriate. There will be a chapter when it's night between the two of them before the dang wolves and the massive herd. It is a Jicks story! Review please, if you are new or haven't reviewed lately let me know you are still reading please!

Rick and Jewel POV:

Rick watched Carter leave then looked at Jewel. "Daryl, can you and Morgan handle telling everyone that we can carry guns?"

Daryl nodded. "Yeah no problem, we've got this. We gonna have a family meeting tonight?"

"Yeah, everyone including the kids," Rick said.

"Mar and Carol are cooking up a storm, they were expecting you to want a meeting. Morgan, Jenny would really like to see you," Mika said.

"I've got this handled," Daryl told Morgan. "Go see Jenny, she's probably feelin' upset about her brother," he told him.

Morgan looked at them. "Alright," he said as he walked out with Mika.

"Jewel, come on let's get guns, and take a walk," Rick told his wife.

Jewel turned and looked at her. "What?"

"We're going to take a walk, I think we both could use some time to cool off, don't you?" Rick asked.

"There's to much work to do," Jewel insisted.

"We can live a little while without the two of you telling us what to do. We're grown, go on," Daryl told her.

Jewel hesitated but went and got her gun, not bothering to check it out. She grabbed bullets and loaded it waiting for Rick to do the same before they walked out together. "What's going on Rick?"

"I wanted to make sure that you were alright. I know that Carter got off extremely easy, and that you wanted to kill him. Is there something wrong with me wanting to make sure my wife is alright?" Rick asked as he kissed her.

"No, of course not, but there's a whole lot of things to do and not a lot of time to do it," Jewel reminded him as she kissed him.

"Like Daryl said they can handle it for a little while. You aren't the only one that wanted to kill Carter," Rick told her.

"I know, Mr. Grimes," Jewel told him as she touched his face. "You tried to get them to kill the walkers', is that why he wanted to take the town back?"

Rick sighed. "We both knew he was going to be trouble. He's going to disagree with everything that I'm going to suggest."

"He's an idiot if he can't see that we are trying to help them survive. But people like that, they don't deserve to be alive. We haven't taken the town over, we're doing what Deanna brought us in for. What happened last night with Pete, that wasn't your fault. It had to go that way," Jewel told him. "I talked with Jessie about Ron."

Rick looked at her. "How did that conversation go, Mrs. Grimes?" he asked.

Jewel rolled her eyes. "Probably almost the way you imagine it going. She doesn't want us to be the ones, especially you, to talk with him or teach him."

Rick shook his head. "I bet you told her that if she can't keep an eye on her kids, then we weren't just going to let them die and not say a word," he said as he kissed her.

"Am I that predictable?" Jewel asked with a smile.

"Pretty much but it's one of the many reasons I love you," Rick told her. "There's something else I want to talk to you about," he told her.

"What?" Jewel asked curiously.

"Noel came to me," Rick said.

"Noel needs to mind his own business. I'm not thinking about drinking. There's to much to do around here for me even to think about picking up a bottle. There's nothing to worry about, Rick. He had no right to bring anything up to you because there's nothing to bring up," Jewel assured him.

Rick touched her cheek. "Do you remember on the farm when Hershel relapsed? Do you remember what you said?"

"That no one else knew what he was dealing with," Jewel answered.

"You were right, no one else knew what he was going through. None of us knew what to say to him, but you did. You had the exact words that he needed, when he needed them. You knew how to say them. I couldn't have done that, Glenn couldn't have done that if he went. Noel said a simular thing today and it made me realize he was right. I'm going to give you all the love and support that I can, but if you need someone to talk to like you did with Jane, then I can't be that, no matter how hard I try," Rick told her.

"Rick, I've never said that I needed that," Jewel told him. "Noel doesn't know me, he doesn't know what I've been through, and he doesn't know how much I can handle. I'm surprised that you are letting him put doubts in your head about me. I think you knew better then that, I thought you knew me better then that," she said as she turned away from him.

Rick grabbed her arm and pulled her to face him. "You are the strongest, bravest, most amazing woman I have ever met. There is no one I would rather have standing beside me then you," he said as he kissed her. "We made a promise to each other, do you remember? We would always watch out for each other. How many times a week did you sit down with Jane and talk?" he asked.

"We lived together, we always talked," Jewel answered as she leaned her forehead into his.

"You always knew that she was there, though, didn't you? You always knew that you had that support right there," Rick reminded her. "If anyone can keep there sobriety in this world, it's you, it's always going to be you. But, I want to know that there's someone that you can talk to if it gets to much, and if I'm not around."

"You trust Noel that much? You don't trust any of the Alexandrian's, so why is it that you are so willing to trust him?" Jewel questioned.

Rick kissed her and touched her cheek. "He came to me, he didn't use anything that had happened against me, and he spoke truthfully. And, when I accused him of being attracted to you, he called my bluff on it. You'd be helping him too," he reminded her. "Isn't that what you tried to do with Bob at the prison?"

"Bob was family," Jewel reminded him.

"He wasn't at the time," Rick told her. "The offer is out there, and if it's needed, then you know I support the decision. If you don't feel like you ever need to talk to him, then don't. He didn't have to come and offer to listen if you ever needed it, any more then Morgan had to save my life at the beginning. I still don't trust these people, but Noel reached out because he thought he could help. Isn't that what we try to do? We try to keep a bit of our humanity."

Jewel sighed. "I get it, I do," she said as she kissed Rick. "Not everyone can be idiots like Carter," she said with a small laugh.

"God help us if that's the case," Rick said as he agreed with her.

"What are you going to do about Morgan and Jenny?" Jewel questioned her husband.

Rick looked at her. "What do you mean?"

"Are you going to put them back in the apartment tonight?" Jewel asked.

"I hadn't thought about it, to many other things were going through my mind," Rick admitted to his wife.

"I think we should let them stay at the house," Jewel told him. "I may not like the whole non killing ninja thing he has going, but he did save you and for that, he deserves to be somewhere other then behind locked doors. We can make room, or we can move him to one of the other houses, but he should be with us, until he proves he isn't one of us."

Rick kissed her. "Thank you."

Jewel looked at him, puzzled. "What for?"

"For being my wife, Mrs. Grimes," Rick said as he kissed her.

"Well thank you for being my husband, Mr. Grimes," Jewel responded.

Author's Note: So that was a whole Jewel and Rick chapter, I hadn't planned it that way but man they wanted time together being cute and loving. Review please.
