As the duo made their way along the path of Magnolia Academy their voices could be heard all through campus. They walked together, laughing and talking like they always do. Telling stories of their time apart. With both Lucy and Levy's schedules being filled over the summer, they rarely had time to talk to one another. Let alone see each other in person; since Lucy lived in Crocus and Levy lived in Magnolia. As did most of their friends. And that was at least a four hour train drive, half way across Fiore. And though both girls were completely ok with taking a train every week, their parents wouldn't allow it.
Lucy did have the great idea of just staying at Levy's the whole summer but she had to stay home for "family business matters." Meaning: You are going to be sold off to a rich man so we can combined our businesses. Luckily, Lucy has been able to steer clear of that fate. Downside is she had to attend a lot of boring party's.
Nevertheless, all was well, since Lucy was back together with her friends. So now she could spend every living moment with them.
Coming up to a building, Lucy looked to the sight. In front of her was Fairy Tail, a small coffee shop. Lucy opened the door for her petite friend, she thanking her with a dramatic bow before walking in. Lucy followed in soon after giggling.
The floors were polished hardwood, the walls filled with paintings, book shelves and windows, and the furniture consisted of round wooden tables and stools. But the best part was in the corner was a brick fireplace with a coffee table and coach surrounding it. The whole scene was meant to give a calming and homey feeling but it did far from that. Fairy Tail started out as a nice and quiet place to relax but soon when it became more and more popular, more and more kid trailed in. Some not even coming to order anything but to just lay back and hang out with friends. You would think there would be no way to work in such a rowdy place like this, but Lucy didn't mind so much. Fairy Tail was still her go to place for any kind of occasion. Plus the pastries and drinks here were just to die for!
The two slowly made their way to the front, both almost immediately recognizing the barista.
"Yukino!" they both cheered.
"Lucy! Levy! Good to see you guys," she said in her light voice.
Lucy had known Yukino for a while now. She was this fairly tall young women, a senior just like her, with short, white, almost blue tinted hair that shaped around her face and big dark brown eyes. Not to mention she was very beautiful. But what Lucy really liked about her was how caring she was. Always putting others before herself and never complaining. She just wanted to help and make the world brighter with her smile. But sometimes Lucy did worry for her, thinking she was more being taken advantage of then helping. Yukino would just brush her worried friend off and say she knew what she was doing. But still… some people just want to blow away the light and fill it with darkness. And no one, especially Yukino, needed to see that darkness.
"It's great seeing you too. So you work at Fairy Tail now?" Levy said.
"Yep! Just stared today. So go easy on me," Yukino gave a nervous but hopeful smile.
After Lucy and Levy ordered their drinks they sat down at a table near a window. The sunlight was shining in through the glass, giving a bright glow to both of the girl's faces. The smell of coffee in the air and the sounds of others voices. It was a good day and the moment was perfect.
"So Lu… had anyone new in your life?" Levy said with her cheeky smile. Not so perfect anymore.
Lucy, not surprised by this question, only signed to her friend. "Have you?"
Levy didn't seem fazed by this comment. "You know I haven't. But that's beside the point. We're talking about you."
"When was this decided?"
"Right now." Levy, yet to have a relationship herself, loved to play match-maker.
Aside from reading, this could be her main hobby. And Lucy had plenty experience with her blue haired friend and her insane desire to see people in love. Most of Lucy's boyfriends or dates being someone she met through Levy. Lucy never really mind this, considering all the guys Levy had ever hooked her up with were these dashing, well-mannered fellows. The blonde really having no chose but to fall for their charm.
"I haven't been with anyone since Thomas," she admitted. There was really no reason to hide the truth.
Levy gasped, pulling her hand over her mouth. "B-but you guys broke up in April!"
"I am aware. I was there when it happened," Lucy smiled trying to ease her friends stress by placing a hand on hers, that wasn't already covering her mouth.
The girl's mood quickly changed from horrified to baffle. "Lucy Heartfilia, did you live under a rock over the summer?!" Levy said with a laugh.
"Yes, Levy, I did. And I was very content with it," Lucy said with a cheeky smile.
That statement wasn't so fare from the truth. Lucy's three month break consisted of being either stuck in her home or forced to go to ball room parties, meeting some older, rich, men that she was supposedly planned to get married to.
"Seriously though! How is it that no guy has snatched you up yet?!" Lucy thought Levy was definitely taking this way out of proportion. She knew she was still young and beautiful, and that she will be for quite some more time. So there should be no problem right? She still has plenty of time to find someone while she's still in the prime of her life.
Lucy shifted in her seat, a little embarrassed. "I don't know. I guess I'm just not that noticeable by guys."
Levy was surprised. "Not noticeable- Lucy! What are you talking about? A lot of guys notice you! I think you're just too blind to see it."
"Oh really. Like who? Who on this earth wants me?" Lucy rolled her eyes, still feeling the heat on her cheeks from her earlier embarrassment.
Levy was about to start listing off a few guys, when something caught her eye. Her face quickly changed to a smug look. "Well for starters…" she then pointed off behind Lucy.
Confused, the blonde then turned around to see one heck of a sight. Running towards her was her old childhood friend, Dan Straight.
"LULU!" he called out.
Lucy felt a giant smile grow on her face as she stood from her seat. She then ran to her friend, jumping in his arms. As Lucy had her arms rapped around Dan's neck when she felt that something was… different.
Her feet weren't toughing the ground.
Once the two broke away, Lucy gave a good look at Dan. He had dark rusted hair that matched perfectly with his brown eyes and olive skin. But he had always had those features. What was different was that the once short boyish teen, was now grown to at least six-foot and had a very mature face. Very different from the last time the blonde had seen him.
Lucy realized her hands were placed on Dan's forearms. Without thinking, she gave them a light squeeze. "Wow, and he got muscles," she thought to herself. Embarrassed, she pulled away.
"Dan, it's great to see you! Looks like you've changed a lot over the summer," Lucy said, trying to contain the blush from spreading across her cheeks.
Dan let out a laugh. "Yeah, finally got my grow spurt!"
"Well you look great!" Lucy took another glance at him. Seeing her blatantly look over his body caused Dan to become flustered and shy away a little. Lucy noticed this and smiled, earning a blush of her own. "He's still the same dorky kid, even after all the changes."
Dan got down on one knee and took the blondes hand.
"Thank you, Lulu. But I should be the one honoring you in all of your glory! You look just as beautiful as the stars in the dark. And I swear I see every twinkle in your eyes!" Dan proclaim in a penetrating voice, which caused some looks from bystanders. This dork had no shame.
Though Lucy didn't want to be the reason for any kind of recuse. So she slowly lifted Dan to his feet, having him sit down with her and Levy to calm down.
Lucy glanced over to Levy. She had her hand under her chin and a small, cheeky smile. She had been watch the whole scene play out in front of her. Lucy shot her a warning glare, but that only brightened Levy's face more.
"Levy! It's nice seeing you," Dan greeted with his knightly smile.
"Likewise. So how you been, Dan? It's been awhile."
Dan let out an exasperated sigh. "It sure has. I've been ok. But my dad has me working a lot more then usual, since Sam's gone."
Dan lived out in the country on his family's ranch. Lucy had been their quite a few times when she was a child. Her father was planning on buying the land and decided to bring his daughter along with him, to make the personal offer. At the ranch, her father had given her permission to look around while he talked about business. That's how she met Dan. Lucy was wondering the path when she saw him, hanging over one of the wooden fences to the pig pen. Lucy remembered being confused and slowly walked over to the little boy. When he had noticed the younger blonde, he dropped down. That's all it took for their friendship to begin.
Dan was shorter then Lucy at the time. As he had been for most of their lives. His head looked like a bird's nest, with every hair sticking out in a different direction, while Lucy's was neatly braided. His bouts, cloths and skin were all muddy, and she was as clean as a pin. They looked so different from each other. Lucy had no idea they would become such good friends.
"Oh right, Sam's off to college. How's that been on your parents?" Lucy asked. She remembered Sam. Not as much sociable as much he was hard working. But he was their when it counts.
A loud ding was heard throughout Fairy Tail- surprising, considering how loud it was in there. Then Levy's name was called to the counter.
"Oh right! I almost forgot why we came here. Be right back," Levy said taking off into the crowd of people to retrieve her drink.
Lucy was about to ask her question again when she felt an arm slip around her shoulder. A very big and muscular arm. She turned to see who had caught her. It was Dan, giving a kind of sly smile. Not something the blonde was use to.
"Now that were alone… Lulu it's been too long. I don't think my heart could any longer take being separated by you," Dan said with a sad frown. You could still see the passion in his eyes. Lucy only sighed.
"I know. And I missed you too." Even though this was extremely cheesy and embarrassing, Lucy did really miss her friend. She let him keep his arm around her and laid her head on his shoulder. Dan went on expressing his feelings in any way he could think of. Though, they had no effect on her, since she's heard this all before. Only when she heard someone clear their throat did she get up from her position. A deep blush coating her face.
Yet again, Levy was staring at the two of them with a stupid grin on her face. She sat down at her seat, not saying a word. Lucy was going to explain when there was another loud ding sounded through the building. "LUCY!"
She took the opportunity to leave the situation, but she was stopped yet again.
"Don't worry, my bright star. I will retrieve your drink!" Dan announced, taking off to the counter.
"T-thanks…" Lucy noticed Levy was still the same as before. She stuck her tongue out at her. "Don't give me that look. You know I've told him before how I feel."
Dan was a very good friend of Lucy's, and she really did love him. But just not in the way he felt about her. Especially after, on multiplications, he confessed his "undying love" for her. Since they were six… kinda a mood killer. So she can't help but only look to him as a friend. A brother even. Which is very heartbreaking on his part, considering he always comes back for more. But Lucy knows he's going to find someone someday that will love him just as strongly as he does them.
"And you say no one notices you," it was as if Levy didn't hear a single thing Lucy had said. The blonde then groaned, placing her head on the table with her hands covering her. Only then did the petite girl lose her smile. She set her hand over one of Lucy's. "Hey, Lu…" she said in a soft voice.
Lucy lifted her head and squeezed her friend's hand. She knew Levy was only teasing her but sometime it was a bit much. Especially when everyone would do it.
Lucy gave a reassuring smile. "I know. It's ok."
Levy's worried face then changed to a happier one.
Nothing more could be said since the duo had heard another one of Dan's outcries. "LULU, I GOT YOUR-" was all that came out before he fell face first to the ground. Right in front of Lucy. Spilling the coffee cup all over her.
Lucy felt a scorching pain swell up around her chest and face as the brown liquid fell over her. She stood up, letting out a shriek. The coffee was burning hot and the blonde had to keep her eyes squeezed shut, in fear of it getting in. she ran her hands over her face, not that it helped much. The heat was all she could think about. She almost didn't registered Levy telling her she'll get napkins and then running off.
A little after of standing silent, Lucy felt someone running something over her eyes. When it pulled away, she slowly opened them, now that the burning liquid was gone. In front of her was Levy, handing over a stack on napkins. Lucy thanked her, taking them from her hand.
Lucy heard someone yell and she then turned toward the commotion. There was Dan, obviously very upset right now. But he wasn't directing his emotion towards Lucy or apologizing. As she expected him to do after a stunt like that. He was angry, practically stomping his feet at a certain fellow. Lucy couldn't make out so many features, considering her vision was still blurry from the coffee. Though she could see a light shade of pink covering the persons head. Did they have pink hair, or was that just a hat?
"Are you ok, Lucy?" Lucy turned back to Levy and gave a smile. She was still trying to proses everything.
"Yeah I'm ok. Just a little frazzled…"
"Someone had ran into Dan. That's why he fell." That made sense. Dan was running around like a maniac. They probably didn't see him coming. And that 'they' was probably the person who Dan was having such a fit over.
"Look what you made me do! You made me spill coffee all over Lulu!" Dan could not stress his rage enough.
After Lucy quickly cleaned herself up she decided to get in between the two arguing. Well it was more of Dan arguing and the other guy just staring. Lucy put a hand over Dan's shoulder. He seemed to calm down just a slight when he looked to the blonde, covered in coffee stains.
She felt her skin was stinging a little. It'll most likely leave a burn mark.
Lucy had missed Dan's cries of apologies since her mind went to the figure still standing in front of them. This figure was a he. And he, did indeed have pink hair. Plus, you couldn't miss the cold look he had. Kind of a mixture of anger and announce. "Tell your friend to watch were he's going," was all he said before he turned away and left.
Lucy had wanted to apologize, but never got the chance. She then let out a sigh.
Well, that was a great, first notice from a guy.
CHAPTER TWO, FINISHED! Well now… a pink haired boy huh? I wonder who that could be. I bet you guys could take a guess at who this 'mystery' man is. Heheheh… I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I'll try to get the next out as soon as possible. And I'm sorry if the first two chapters are a bit boring. I promise it's going to get more fun and exciting soon. Just you wait! Stay safe, wash your hands, and have a good day/night. See you later!
