Chapter 15
I ran through lengths of the world, desperately trying to find Moka, tearing down every tree that were in the way, with Sango and the others following behind. It had been three days, or so, since she left. And I was the cause of it. I never knew that she made that stuff for me, since Kagome mentioned it to me. I felt like a jackass... and everyone around me knew it. After Moka ran off, without a single word, or glance towards any of us, I felt regret. Kagome was of course pissed at me, for hurting Moka's feelings as well as Shippo. Miroku as always gave me the lecture about not thinking before I speak, and Sango was disappointed in me and my actions.
"Inuyasha...why don't we rest here, for now?" Miroku suggested, stopping from behind us.
I looked at him as if he'd gone completely insane. "He's right, Inuyasha. We're never going to be able to find Moka, like this. Not when it's this dark." Sango added, stopping as well."
As I stared at the skies, I knew she was right. We'll never find Moka, if we try to look for her in dark night. I let out a sigh of frustration. "Fine. We'll rest here for now."
From the corner of my eye, I knew Kagome was glaring at me. I guess she's still angry with me, for what I did to Moka. Man, could she ever hold a grudge!
I stared into the fire, that was people, the others sleeping peacefully around it. However, I didn't wanna go to sleep. I was too worried to even think about sleeping. I've really done it this time. I knew deep in my heart that I hurt Moka's feelings and not just that...killed them. I had no idea, she made that meal...just for me. And I had the nerve to throw it aside, like it was trash. I've really messed up big time.
"What are you still doing up?" I slightly flinched and looked over to see Kagome, wide awake, her eyes filled with curiosity. I knew there was no worry in her eyes. "How come you're still up?"
I gave a shrug, not really knowing what answer to give her. "I don't know. I guess I just don't feel like sleeping, that's all." Well, that's not really much of an answer, not is it?
"Ok. Well, try to get some rest." she simply told me, before turning over to go back to sleep.
"Kagome." I called for her.
"Hmm?" she answered, turning over to look at me.
"Are you still mad at me?" I asked.
I watched her let out a sigh, before looking and staring at me, completely. "I guess I have to be completely honest." I watched her expression change from calm to a slight angry one. "I'm still incredibly mad at you." I looked away, feeling a hint of guilt in the pit of my stomach. "What you did back there, was extremely unacceptable. Inuyasha, I don't think you have any idea just how hurtful, that really was to Moka."
"I know and I feel like a complete jackass. I never meant to do, or say any of those things to hurt her. I had no idea that she made all that...just for me. But why would she do that for me?"
Kagome sighed, getting up to sit next to me. "She only did that, because she likes you."
I looked at her, not believing if I was hearing right, or not. "S-She what?" I stuttered out. "She likes me?" The thought of her liking me, made me blush. For some reason, I felt happy and excited on the inside. "H-How would you know that?"
"I'm her best friend, of course I would know that she likes you." she told me, her eyes narrowing a bit. "And she just doesn't like you, Inuyasha. She loves you."
I instantly felt frozen, when she said those words. "Love...me?" I asked. "She loves me?" I repeated, once again.
"Yeah. She'd told me, that she loved you since the day you found her in her true form. She would always come to me, whenever there's a slight problem, involving you. She worries about you every time, you go off by yourself."
"Her true form?" I questioned, not forgetting the "true form" word. I was slightly confused, by what she meant. Moka once told us, that her true form can't be released, unless the rosary was pulled off. "What do you mean, by true form?"
"I can't tell you that, Inuyasha."
"Tell me." I pushed, getting a little impatient.
Kagome shook her head, with a sigh. "I still can't tell you. I made a promise, that I wouldn't say anything, and I'm gonna break it." she vowed, her eyes filled with determination and wisdom. "You'll have to ask her that, yourself."
Moka's P.O.V
I sat outside in the field. humming to myself as the sun shined over the green grasslands. I had been staying here with Gyokuro and her husband, Issa for at least four days. I felt happier, than usual staying here with them. Gyokuro was of course nice to me. Only telling me stories of her daughters and how she met her husband. However, her husband didn't seem fond of me, every time we cross paths. He always looked at me as if he despised me, or something. Did I do something wrong to have upset him? Is it because of the way I look? I hope not...
"It's nice out here, especially when it's dark out." I commented, taking in the smell of flowers. I leaned back, letting my back hit the flowers underneath me. I stared up at the sky, my mind drifting off in deep thought. I wonder how Inuyasha and the others are doing. I wouldn't be surprised if Inuyasha is thinking "good riddance" that I'm gone. I didn't expect him to act violently towards me like that. I felt utterly ashamed for thinking, that I could impress Inuyasha with my cooking. Mockery was playing its game on me as we all speak. I felt like I was a complete failure at accomplishing everything in my life. Why couldn't I just be strong...like Kagome, Sango, Miroku, or even Inuyasha? Inuyasha often says that I'm weak and lazy, and never help them eliminate demons. Am I really that useless in Inuyasha's eyes? I stood up, taking a short stretch. "I guess I can't lay around here all day. I think I'll go for a walk."
I explored every ounce around Gyokuro and her husband's home. The trees were nicely aligned next to each other. The grass underneath my bare feet were soft and warm-moist. The breeze flew by nicely against the flowers, that chose to stand out and shine off their beauty. I walked through ounces throughout the rest of the place.
"What the heck is it?"
"Is it dead?"
"I don't know, let's poke it."
Becoming quite curious, I followed to where the voices were coming from. It sounds like a couple of little kids. I immediately gasp, when I found a horrid sight. Three young boys, poking and trying to explore on a defenseless black cat. "Hey! What are you doing to the cat?!" I shouted, rushing over towards the boys. Before I could even confronted them personally, they ran off, scared to face me. "Honestly... Couldn't they just find something else to do, other than torture small animals?" I sauntered over towards the half-conscious cat. "You poor thing. Are you alright? Did those mean kids hurt you, kitty?" I asked, picking it up in my hands. I saw that a few bandages were wrapped around the little thing's head. "Let's get these bandages off you." Like I exactly promised, I started to tear away the bandages around its head. But just as they were nearly off, the cat did the unexpected; the cat suddenly vanished out of my hands. I felt a small weight leap off my head, landing on the ground. I stared at the cat, for a good moment or two. The cat obviously didn't look like any normal cat. It bared a golden crescent moon on its forehead. What really frighten me, was that it had red eyes. The cat looked at me...like it was examining me, or something.
I didn't have time to stand here and try to talk to a cat. I needed to head back as soon as possible, before Gyokuro will get worried. "I should head back. It's getting a bit dark." The sun that was once shining was setting behind the clouds.
3rd Person's P.O.V
Little red eyes stared after the pink-haired girl, who was in such a hurry to get somewhere. The girl looked oddly familiar in her eyes. For some reason, she felt like she knew the girl from somewhere. More like, a long time ago. "That girl. I feel like I possibly know her from somewhere." said the female cat. "Could she possibly be...no that's impossible. She's dead." the cat pondered, deep in thought. "Hopefully, she's the right one, I'm searching for."
Moka's P.O.V
I sat at the table between Issa and Gyokuro, eating the dinner, some of their servants made.(AN: Because in the manga, The shuzen family have servants, right?) The three of us ate, in pure silence. To make it even more awkward, from the corner of my, I see Issa slightly looking glaringly at me. Neither of them, including me never even dared to make a move, nor a sound, or a mere squeak. I felt slightly out of place and uncomfortable at the dead silence. There was a limit to how much I can take from stuff, disturbing and uncomfortable as this. "May I please be excused?" I took a respectful bow, before leaving towards my given room. I slid the door closed, leaning against it. I let out a solemn sigh. I've been staying here, for four days, and they still treat my presence like an unknown disease. I guess they're still not use to the fact that I'm staying with them, for a while, or so.
"They're still not "use to me being here. I wonder if they both secretly hate me, or something. Gyokuro-san was nice enough to speak to me, however...Issa-san..." I still couldn't get that night out of my head.
~Flashback~
I stood like a statue in front of the silver-haired man. His blood-red eyes stared straight into my her own, as if he was trying to search my soul. I gulped. Like they were staring me down, like a defenseless prey. "Who are you? Why are you in my home?" the man asked. His eyes narrowed a bit. As if he was trying to find answers out of me.
I wasted know time dropping to my knees and kneeling before him. When you're with people, that look as powerful as this person, you have to everything you can to stay alive and earn their respect. "P-Please forgive me, M-Mister. I didn't know this was your home. I...I..."
"That is quite enough, Moka." said a familiar female voice. I looked up to see Gyokuro walking up, next to the man. "It's alright, Issa. She means no harm." she said to the man, namely Issa. I let out a sigh of relief, when she started explaining to Issa, why I was exactly here.
The man turn to me, with an emotionless expression. "I see then. My apologies, Miss." he said, bowing himself.
I gave a bright smile. "It's no problem at all, Issa-san. I'm the one who should apologize." I said, taking a bow myself.
Right then, I knew I had to choose my words wisely, when I saw the look on his face hardened a bit. He looked at me, with a slight glare, before turning and walking away. I stared at his back, slightly agitated.
~End Flashback~
It was almost like he hated me, for being here. Does he not want me here in this place? Am I not worthy enough to call him by any certain name? I felt a sudden tense in my body. I heard faint pitter patter of claws, come from somewhere. "Who's there? C-Come out. I know you're hiding somewhere." I stutter out, my insides crawling with fear. I looked around frantically for the noise, and to my annoyance, I couldn't find anything. I looked in front of me as the noise got closer and closer. There, stood before me, was the cat, from earlier, staring at me with its big, ruby eyes. "I-It's you." I took a step back, feeling slightly intimidated. "N-No way. H-How'd you... Why are you here?"
"Why, Moka, I came here to see you of course. Who else?"
I screamed as I carelessly fell to floor. Did...did it just talk? "I don't know, if this is another dream, or if I'm just imagining things, but did that cat just talk?"
"Indeed, I did, Moka. And I assure you that you're certainly not dreaming, nor that you're imagining things." she explained, sweat-dropping.
"Who are you?" I asked, getting straight to the point.
She cleared her voice, before speaking up. "My name is Luna, and I've been searching for you, for a very long time." she explained, with a polite smile. No matter how much she smiled and how innocent she purely looked, I was still a little creeped out at the idea of a talking cat, existing. "I have been told, that you have a gifted power within you."
I stared at the cat, slightly confused by what she told me. "A gifted power?" I repeated. That can't be right. I thought that my only ability was to transform, once the rosary is remove. That's strange. Half-vampires don't have other powers, except for super strength and super speed. "I don't understand? What do you mean by "gifted power"?."
"Well-"
"Moka, is everything all right in there?" called a female voice. By the sound of that voice, I knew it was Gyokuro coming to check on me. I started to panic, about where Luna was going to hide. However, I didn't need to worry about that, since her form was no longer, there next to me. Before I could even think about where the cat went, the door was slid open to reveal Gyokuro. "Is everything all right? I heard you scream, not too long ago."
I laughed, sheepishly scratching the back of my head. "Eh...w-well...er... I kind of fell, while I was trying...er... to get ready for bed. Yeah!" Gooood job, Moka. What a "great" excuse you gave her.
"Well, try to be more careful next time, okay?" Gyokuro sighed. I wasted no time, nodding in response, not wanting her to catch on to my act. "And one more thing..." I looked at her and saw she had a gentle smile on her face. "Try not to feel alarmed, when you're around Issa. He's just not use to seeing new guests, staying with us, since our daughters strode off on their own."
I slightly felt guilty, when she told me this. So that's why he's been acting this way around me. Because of his daughters moving out on their own. It must have been really hard for him. "I see, then. Forgive me, Gyokuro-san."
"There's nothing to be sorry for." she chuckled. "He can appear brash at first, but underneath that sheet, is a much softer side. Don't worry. Have a good night, Moka." With that said, she slid the tatami door closed, her footsteps descending away.
I let out a sigh of relief. "That was a close one."
"Issa..." I flinched, when a heard the voice, that was very familiar to me. I felt a small weight climb on to my lap. Luna sat in front of me, her paw brushed against her mouth in deep thought. "Issa..." she whispered, as if she was trying to figure him out.
"You know him?" I asked, a little shocked, that she might have.
"Of course..." she murmured. "I was once his and his wife's companion, many years ago. It's been so long, since we last saw each other."
Author's Note: Really Important. MUST READ!
I'm just going to stop there. If you think that I put Luna from the Sailormoon universe in this story, it wasn't my idea. It was my sister's. She suggested that I put Luna and Artemis in the story, but I argued with her that it wouldn't be a good idea and it would confuse all of you. I also told her, that Moka is fine the way she is, with just the rosary and all, but she said that the Outer Moka can't defend herself against anything that attacks her, like her inner-self. Hopefully, all of you will find this disagreeable, once you read this chapter. Hopefully, some of you would tell me to delete this chapter, and write another one that makes more sense. And I hope she wouldn't make me, make Moka go all sailormoon and shit. That'll mess up the whole story in my opinion. Again, I don't think this idea of the chapter, that my sister came up with, makes sense. So I hope all of you would disagree.
