Sweet Dreams
Chapter 370
Author's Note: Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the United States. I've been debating how to do this next chapter, I have something planned for Jes and Axel, and Summer and David. But we also need to get the Wolves into Alexandria. So, let's see where brain leads me. Please review. Only had one review from the last chapter. Let me know you're reading. Thanks!
Joey's POV:
Joey turned to the window and steadied his weapon. "Spenser, take the other side," he ordered as he shot at one of the people coming in.
Spenser lined up his shot and his hands were shaking as he fired, missing the person.
Joey fired again and glanced over his shoulder. "Spenser, I need your help in this alright? I know you're scared, and I get it. Believe it or not, I'm scared too, I'm always am. So is Rick, so is Jewel, so is Summer, we all are scared. But that is how we survive," he said as he fired another shot. "We're scared that we're going to lose the people we love, that we aren't going to be strong enough when the time comes that we need to be. Right now, we are the only people standing between those people coming over the gates and everyone we love and care about. People are dying, more people will die if we miss our shots."
Spenser fired and looked back at him. "I'm sorry, I'm not used to doing this kind of thing," he said.
"Well good thing that we're here and not just some dummy, isn't it?" Joey asked.
"We thought we were safe, we were safe," Spenser started to say.
"Spenser, I swear to God if the next words out of your mouth is until you came, I'm going to but you in the head with this rifle," Joey said.
"Who are these people?" Spenser questioned. "Why are they doing this?"
Joey glanced at him before firing again. "They lost there humanity," he told him. He heard a noise and looked at Spenser. "What is that?"
Spenser sighed as he looked out the window. "Shit," he said as he fired, causing the truck to crash into the wall, the horn going off, and the building crashing down.
Joey fell against the wall. "A little warning would be nice," he said as he got up. "We need to stop that horn, it's going to lead the walkers' away and straight here," he said as he went to help Spenser with the door.
Lexi,Mar, Carol and Carl's POV:
Lexi looked out Carl's window then turned and looked at him. "Trouble is coming over the walls," she said.
Carl stood up and went over to look out the window. "Come on," he said as he grabbed the rifle.
"We've got trouble coming over the walls," Lexi said.
"We saw from upstairs, they're coming in from all over," Carl told Carol and Mar.
Mar put her gun on her belt as she looked at Carol. She saw Lexi take a step forward. "Where do you think you're going, Lex?"
"Jenny and Mika are outside, I think at the playground. Liam and Bri may be with them," Lexi answered.
"Mar will go to the playground, you two have to stay here and keep Judith and Hope safe," Carol told them.
"But I can help, you know I can," Lexi told them.
"We all have jobs to do, and your job is to stay here with Carl and protect Judith and Hope. Shoot anyone that comes in that door that you don't recognize. Do you understand?" Mar asked.
"We understand," Carl said. "Where's Mitch?"
"He's at Jessie's," Carol answered. "Lock the door behind us," she told the two teens.
Mar kissed the top of Lexi's head as she followed Carol outside. "We need to get to the armory," she told Carol as they walked outside.
"I'll handle that, you get to the playground," Carol said as she pushed a knife into her hand. "Go," she told her.
"Be careful," Mar yelled after Carol.
Jewel and Morgan's POV:
Jewel stopped running and turned her attention to the horn beeping. "We need to stop that horn," she told Morgan. "You go stop that horn, I'm going to go over the gates and see how I can help," she told him as she started to turn and run.
Morgan grabbed her arm. "I'm afraid I can't let you do that Jewel," he told her.
Jewel looked at his hand on her arm. "Unless you're one of my brothers or I'm sleeping with you, Morgan, you better remove that hand," she warned him.
Morgan did what he was told. "I meant no harm, but I can't let you go on your own," he told her.
"Morgan, we don't have time to argue about this. We have to split up, it's faster. Every minute we stand here arguing, God knows what is happening in Alexandria. My children, Jenny, our friends, the Alexandrian's, they all may be in unknown danger. So, do I punch you and leave you for any walkers' and handle both the horn and get inside Alexandria, or we both can work together and separate for the best of the people we love," Jewel told him.
"You would hit me," Morgan said as he looked at her.
"You know I would," Jewel told him.
"Be careful, I'll join you as soon as possible," Morgan said as he turned to run in the direction of the horn.
"You too," Jewel yelled after him as she took off running. She saw a figure heading toward the gate and sped up. "No one can get over the gates, huh. Right," she said as she rolled her eyes. She took out her knife and climbed the gate, grabbing the person who was climbing up the gate. The person looked back and went to kick Jewel in the face. "Hells Bells," she said as she moved her head quickly out of the way, still receiving a kick to the shoulder. She reached up and jabbed the person in the leg, pulling him down with her. Jewel twisted her body out from under him as they landed kicking him. She kicked the man off her, and put her knife through his ear. She moved the handkerchief from his mouth and checked him for weapons. She took notice of the W on his head and looked at the gates. "Shit," she exclaimed as she started to climb the walls.
Joey and Morgan's POV:
Joey followed Spencer out of the tower. "We have to stop that horn," he said as he raised his weapon. "You handle that, I'll keep watch," he said.
"Are you sure you don't want me to stand watch?" Spenser asked hesitantly.
"I've seen your shooting skills, I'll stand guard," Joey said as the approached the truck. "Go," he told the other man. Joey glanced over his shoulder as Spencer opened the door to the truck. He saw the driver had already turned. "Spencer, anytime now," he hissed.
"We can trade spots," Spencer said again.
"You have to learn how, hesitation means death, not necessarily yours, but those that you love. Your nieces are inside those gates, your mom," Joey said as he fired his weapon at one of the Wolves and fired. "It just takes one minute," he said. "Now grow some balls and kill it and turn off the damn horn!" he yelled.
Spencer went to stab it but hesitated again as Morgan climbed into the truck and killed the walker and turned off the horn.
Joey turned. "Good to see you. You came alone?" he asked.
"Jewel went inside already. What happened?" Morgan asked.
"Someone, a group, they got inside the walls. They're killing people," Spenser said.
"Probably the same people that killed Chris, the Wolves," Joey said.
Morgan nodded. "We need to get in there," he told them. "You coming?" he asked Spencer, already knowing Joey's answer. He saw Spencer's hesitation. "Hide," he told the other man.
Joey looked at Spencer. "You thought you could protect Summer? You're pathetic," he told Spencer.
"Joey, come on, our family is counting on us," Morgan told the other man.
Joey nodded as he slung the weapon over his shoulder and climbed the walls. "You know you may have to kill people," he said.
"I don't know that," Morgan said. "I can talk to them."
Joey looked at Morgan. "Are you serious? They are killing people. We don't know who is dead, and you want to talk? They were gutting people. They led people in chains, like slaves. But you just want to talk to them? What if they were about ready to kill Jenny? Would you just talk to them? Tell you what, you talk, I'll kill. They aren't getting away, not to come back and do it again. It's not up for discussion," he said as he jumped over the gate.
Mika's POV:
Mika heard the commotion coming from the gates. She stopped Jenny's swing and looked at Bri and Chloe. "Something's happening, we have to get to one of the closest houses. Bri, take Jenny," she ordered as she took out her knife. She looked at Liam as she took out another knife. "Do you know how to use this?"
"Yea, Aunt Phoebe made sure I knew how," Liam said as he took it.
Bri took Jenny in her arms. "Give us knives," Chloe said.
"Do you know how to use them?" Mika asked. "Would you be able to actually aim at someone if it meant life and death?" she asked.
"Would you?" Bri asked.
Mika looked at Jenny and nodded. "If they were going to kill us, then yes. Come on, your house is the closest," she told Bri. Liam turned at the sound of screaming. "Come on, we need to get to safety," Mika said as she ran.
Liam turned again as she heard yelling. "That's Aunt Phoebe," he said as he ran in the other direction.
"Liam!" Bri yelled.
"Go, get her to the house, I'm going after him," Mika said as she took off running after him.
"Mika!" she heard as she felt an arm go around her. "What are you doing?" Jewel asked as she hugged the girl.
"Liam, he heard Phoebe, he ran off, I sent Bri and Chloe off to her house with Jenny. I was going after him," Mika told her adoptive mother.
"Go back to the house, I'll go after him. Where is Hope and Judith?" Jewel asked.
"They were at the house with Carol and Mar. Lexi and Carl were there too," Mika said.
Jewel kissed the top of her head. "Keep your knife out and go," she ordered as she took off. "Liam!" she yelled as she saw two men surrounding the boy, Phoebe being on the ground. "Hey! Pick on someone your own size," Jewel told them.
The men turned around. "Is someone coming to help you?" one of the men asked. "Otherwise, you're making this to easy on us."
"Don't ever underestimate a woman," Jewel said as she attacked one of the men with a hatchet and threw a knife at the other one. She pulled the hatchet out of the man's head, and turned to the other one. "You have the audacity to come into my home and threaten my family? Threaten a child? You aren't a man," she said as the man lunged at her.
"You got a lucky shot at him with a hatchet, what do you think you're going to do with a knife. Didn't your daddy ever tell you not to antagonize a man bigger then you?" the Wolf asked as he lunged at her again.
Jewel dodged out of the way and kicked him in the face. "My daddy didn't teach me anything, but my brothers' they taught me this," she said as she stabbed the man in his leg and kicked him, making him double over. "Go to hell!" she said as she brought her knife down in the center of his head.
"Aunt Phoebe is bleeding!" Liam yelled.
"It's nothing," Phoebe said.
"We need to get out of here, let's get to the infirmary. Liam you were very brave trying to protect your Aunt. We'll have to give you more lessons with that knife," Jewel said as she helped Phoebe up.
"You need to help the rest of the town," Phoebe told her. "I can get myself to the infirmary with Liam."
Jewel put a gun in her hand. "Don't hesitate to use it," she told the other woman.
"It's them or us, and I'd rather it be them," Phoebe said as she started to go with Liam.
