Better Days

Chapter 371

Author's Note: I am debating if Summer is going to be caught by Negan or wait. I know David is going to be taken by Negan's men during this and I am introducing Hilltop with Summer. Right now, though let's get back to Alexandria and the people. Review please.

Mar and Jewel's Pov:

Jewel saw Mar running toward the playground and whistled at her, noticing that she turned and ran toward her. "They are back at Quinn's place. Phoebe is hurt, I sent Liam to the infirmary, made sure that there was no Wolve's in front of them.

"Is that who these people are?" Mar asked.

"I think so. We need to go help. Where is Hope and Judith? Mika said they were with you and Carol," Jewel asked concerned.

"Carl and Lexi are at the house with them. They have guns, they won't let any of them in," Mar said.

Jewel nodded. "Mitch?"

"I sent him over to hang out with Sam over at Jessie's," Mar answered. "What's the plan? I don't have many rounds left in my gun," she told her.

"The armoury," Jewel said. "If the Wolve's get to the armoury, Olivia isn't going to be able to handle them herself," she said.

Both turned at the direction of feet coming toward them. Both of them raising there weapons, ready to attack but seeing it was Noel holding onto his side bleeding. Mar and Jewel both ran over to him. "Let me see," Mar demanded as she went over to him.

Jewel looked around ready to take out another Wolf. "We're out in the open, we can't make it to the infirmary. How bad is it?" she asked.

"Side wound, not sure until we can clear it up," Mar told her.

"We need to get him to Quinn's, it's the closest. Noel, I need you to answer me, what happened to the person who did this to you?" Jewel asked as she put his arm around her.

"Killed...him. I do know how to use a handgun," Noel answered.

"You're going to make it, do you understand me? You are not going to die, that isn't happening," Jewel told him as she looked at Mar.

"You two...are way to calm about what's going on around...here," Noel told them.

"Wee are scared," Mar said. "But we just know how to work with the fear. It's how we survive out there," Mar said. "Jewel on the other hand, she always works better under pressure," she told him.

Jewel started to say something as she saw the door to Gus's house open. "Jewel, come in!" Mika yelled as Gus ran down the stairs to help.

"The majority of the wolves' seem to be near our houses and the infirmary or by the walls," Jewel told them as they walked up the stairs. "I'm going to help you clean this wound of Noel's, see how bad it is, then I want you to barricade the door after me."

"You're going back out there? It's safer in here," Bri told her.

"Sometimes the safest thing isn't always the right thing," Mika said as she already started to clear off the dining room table.

"Mika's right," Mar said. "How are you doing Noel?" she asked as she helped Gus get him on the table.

"Not as bad as I expected," Noel said as Gus helped him take off his shirt.

"Chloe, Bri take Jenny upstairs, close the door, don't come out unless it's one of us that comes to get you," Mar instructed as Mika brought water. "Jewel how is it looking out there?"

"There's still to many people outside, to many of us. How bad is it?" Jewel asked as she looked out the window.

"Deep but not life threatening," Mar said. "Go, I can handle this. Gus can keep watch," Mar said.

Jewel looked at Mar. "You sure?" she asked.

"Gus, go to the door, cover her, close it when she goes out," Mar said. "I can handle this," she said as Gus walked over to the door.

Jewel nodded as she had Gus open the door and went out hearing the door close behind her.

Carl and Lexi's POV:

Lexi stood on the stairs with her rifle as she looked at Carl. "It really isn't ever going to end is it? Always fighting and running," she said.

"We aren't running, no one is getting inside this house," Carl said as he looked at her. "We aren't going to let them. We can do this," he said as he squeezed her hand. Both turned there heads and raised there guns when they heard the door open.

"Hey," Enid said.

"How did you get in? I locked the door," Lexi said.

Enid held up the keys. "I have these, didn't want them to have them. And I wanted to say goodbye," she said.

"OK, you can watch the back door, tell us if you see them coming," Carl said.

""I'm not staying," Enid said.

"Why do you have the keys? And where do you think you are going? If you haven't noticed, there are people out there killing other people. Do you really think that going out there is the best idea Enid?" Lexi questioned.

"You're not going anywhere. Sit down, you're going to help us protect Judith and Hope. They're not getting inside this house, we're not gonna let them. Did you see them?" Carl asked.

"They're just people," Enid said.

"They are always just people," Lexi told her. Lexi always being the sensible one looked at Enid. "How did you get the keys?"

"I found them on one of the dead people," Enid answered. "There's to many blind spots, that's how we were able to.."

"They got into the walls but they're gonna die. Don't tell us goodbye," Carl said.

"We have to stick together," Lexi said. "You're part of this family now, and family doesn't just run when things get tough. We stick together, we help each other. You were alone before we got here, you know you didn't fit in with the Alexadrians. So you don't get to say goodbye," she told the other teen girl.

"Okay I won't," Enid said.

Joey, Morgan and Carol's POV:

Two wolves stepped in front of Morgan and Joey. One of the wolves looked at Morgan "Quick or slow?" he asked Morgan.

"Leave, please," Morgan said.

Joey looked at the man who was standing in front of him then at Morgan. "Did you seriously just say please to him?"

"We've met before, I killed his friend, was going to kill him and the girl too but he surprised us. You should have killed us," the Wolf told Morgan.

"I agree, he should have," Joey said. "But, you don't get to live, not again, you don't get to leave here, you don't get to tortu1re and kill anymore people," Joey told him.

"No one else has to die today," Morgan said as he looked at the wolves.

The two wolves looked at each other. "Slow then," the one Wolf said.

Joey didn't hesitate to stab the wolf that lunged at him, and then stabbed him in the head ending him. He turned to kill the man Morgan was fighting with and saw Carol come up and killing him.

"I could have stopped him," Morgan told him.

Carol ignored him. "The others' back?" she asked.

"Jewel radioed, some of the walkers' got distracted by the horn, it had to be done," Joey said.

"Did you hear me?" Morgan asked.

"These people don't have guns," Carol said.

"I could have stopped them," Morgan said. "Both of you knew that I didn't want them killed."

"We have to get to the Armory before they do. If we keep moving, this might work," Carol said as she used the man's blood to put a W on her head.

Joey bent down. "What do you need my help with?"

"You don't have to kill people," Morgan told them.

"Of course we do," Joey and Carol both said.

"Carol, you don't like it!" Morgan said.

"Morgan, drop it," Joey warned as he looked at him. "You left that one alive, and he came back here. He was killing people, he would have killed you. You let them go, then they would come back, again and again. You want to live in a non violent world? Time to wake up and smell the roses, you can't survive without getting human blood on your hands," he said. "What can I do, Carol?"

"Make your way back to the house, back up Carl and Lexi. I'm going to the armory and Morgan is going to help me," she said as she took a rope off one of the dead wolves.

Joey nodded as he took weapons off the dead wolf and ran down the street.

Mitch's POV:

Mitch looked out the window. "We need to barricade the doors," he told Jessie calmly.

Sam grabbed Jessie's hand. "Please don't go," he begged.

"I have to go find Ron," Jessie told him.

Mitch sighed and looked at Sam. "I'll stay with him, Jessie. We'll be fine," he assured the woman.

"I'm gonna be right back, OK?" Jessie asked.

"Mom no!" Sam begged.

"You go put yourself in the closet and you close the latch just like I showed you," Jessie told Sam. "Mitch, you too. I need you both to protect yourself," she said.

Mitch shook his head as he showed the gun. "I'm of use out here," he said as he shoved Sam into the closet. "Close it and latch it. And be quiet," he warned.

"Mitch...you're the same age as Sam, you need to be protected too. Mar would never forgive me if something happened to you," Jessie said.

"I can handle myself, and mom knows it. We may be the same age, Jessie, but in this world, I'm at least ten years older then he is mentally, even older then Ron. I know how to use the gun and no one is going to get into the bedroom door alive. You're wasting time. I'll close the door right behind you," Mitch said as he looked at Jessie.

"Are you sure you could kill someone?" Jessie asked.

"Yes, could you?" Mitch asked. "Go find Ron. He doesn't know how to protect himself," he told her as he turned to go into the bedroom.

Jewel's POV:

Jewel watched Carol lead Morgan, pretending to be a Wolf. She then proceeded to watch him get lose and run to help Gabriel. She watched as Carol proceeded to go to the armory and nodded as they had the same idea. "He isn't going to let them leave," she said to herself as she watched Morgan fight five Wolves. She could take out one or two wolves with her knives at this distance, but not the others. She watched in disbelief as the five wolves' ran away. She came out from behind the spot raising her knife to throw it at one and glared at Morgan when he grabbed her arm.

"No," Morgan told her.

"Morgan, what the hell do you think you're doing?" Jewel asked.

"They're leaving, there's no need to kill any one else," Morgan told her. "You were a nurse, you don't like killing people."

"Morgan, let go of my arm. Now," Jewel warned. "I'm not going to kill them," she said as she waited for him to remove his arm. When he did, she punched him in the nose. "You son of a bitch, you ever touch me again, and I will kill you. I'm going after them," she said.

"What? You can't, your children need you," Morgan told her.

Jewel glared at him. "My children need to be safe and until they are all dead, they won't be," she said as she turned and saw Carol. "He let five of them go, I need weapons," she said.

Carol nodded as she gave her a pistol and a rifle. "Joey can go with you."

"No, I have to get after them before I lose there trail. I can't let them live," Jewel said as she took bullets.

"I know," Carol answered.

Jewel nodded as she took off toward the gate after the Wolves.

Author's Note: There was a lot I left out because it didn't change, but yes Jewel punched Morgan. Hehe. Review please.
