Chapter Thirty -Three | Bad Feeling
.
Loveless didn't fight the smile on her lips as the woman stared wide eyed at Paul. Yes, Paul was someone to gap at. She secretly gaped at times too. A short thrill shot down her spine at the envious look that the same woman shot in her direction. They thought Paul and her were together. A smile worked its way across her lips as she shifted closer to the male.
Oblivious, Paul smiled down at his imprint and wrapped an arm around Loveless' shoulders, tucking her against his side. "So this all will be delivered."
"Y- yes sir." She nodded and jerked back to the present as she stared at the computer screen in front of her. "It can be delivered next Tuesday?"
Paul frowned. "Can we shove that back for two weeks?" His mind went into overdrive as he plotted out all of the things that would need to be done before they could put the furniture in it. "We have some painting that we need to do first."
"Very well." She smiled and clicked away on the computer in front of her. "There will be a ninety-five dollar charge to help unload and place in the house."
Paul shook his head. "Not necessary. I have help already." He had an entire pack of steroid induced males that would help him. Especially if they realized fixing the house would bring him closer, not only too Loveless, but also to Erica. She would finally get to come down and visit. The pack would like that too.
"Okay," She eyed him skeptically for a moment for noting it in his customer order. A flash of a wide smile covered her lips as she grabbed the papers fresh from the printer. "Here is a copy of your order and delivery. The last three pages discuss the warranty that you added on." She stapled the pages together before handing them over.
Paul kept his arm around Loveless as he used his free hand to fold the paper twice before sticking it into his back pocket. "Thank You." His voice was a soft murmur as he glanced at the woman under his arm. "I think we did this backwards." His lips pursed as he steered Loveless from the check-out counter and towards the exit.
"What do you mean?" Loveless questioned as she tilted her head to look at the elder male walking wither. She could have closed her eyes if she wanted. Paul would have bull-stormed what ever was in her long before she reached it.
His dark eyes stared towards his imprint as he walked her to the Sherwin-Williams Paints store. And yes, Paul was beyond surprised that a place like Port Angeles had it. It was a small place - not as small as La Push. But still. "Shouldn't you pick out the paint before the furniture?"
"Oh," Loveless smiled. "I already figured out the colors." A blush clung to her cheeks. "I did that already." She bit at her lower lip. "I hope that is okay," her dark blue eyes shimmered as the sun light played with them. "If you don't like them, we can try something different. A lot of the furniture pieces are neutral."
. .
Paul swallowed hard as he kept his eyes from meeting that of his packs. He wasn't one that had ever really been good at asking for help. He wasn't keen on it. And it usually had strings. Yes, Paul knew that his pack was different. He knew they would help him because they loved him. But there were times that it still effected him. There were times when the animal or his father still got to him.
"You wanna fix the house up?" Jared questioned as the rest of the pack sat in silence. He blinked a few times.
Paul nodded and ignored the why that grew in the room.
"It's about time." Seth grinned easily. "We'll finally get to meet Erica, right?" His lips pulled back in a wide smile. His dark eyes shimmered brightly. Seth chuckled at the looks he received. "What? We were all thinking it."
He laughed softly and nodded. "Yes, you would be able to meet Erica - I wouldn't have to go and visit for a few days and leave Jared in charge anymore."
"Hell Yeah!" Quil through a fist into the air and laughed at the growl Jared sent his way. He gave the other a cheesy grin. "Come on man." Quil chuckled and bumped shoulders with the male sitting next to him. "How can we help Boss?"
A blush worked it's way across Paul's cheeks. "Nicole already picked out the furniture and the colors." He cleared his throat and forced a glare at the smirks and snickers he received. "I need a lot of structure fixed before anything else." His head lowered in shame. "I didn't really take care of what you helped me build." Paul rubbed at the back of his neck. "I'm sorry brothers."
"It's fine." Jared smiled. "You got a little busy taking care of us." He shrugged and smiled widely at his brother and alpha. "Come on," He stood with a bounce and moved from Emily's kitchen to the door. "Let's go see where we need to start."
Paul smiled and dropped an arm around Jared's shoulders. "Thank You, Brother." He took a deep breath as he moved a head and pushed open the door. "The stairs are dangerous." The muscles in his shoulders tightened. He wasn't proud.
"It's okay Boss." Seth smiled and bumped shoulders with the other. "We will get it fixed up for both of the women in your life."
The unwavering belief in the younger struck Paul. A soft smile broke out across his lips. "Thanks." He shook his head and shoved roughly at Seth, a chuckle falling from his lips at the squawk that fell from his lips. "Alright guys. What's the damage?"
"The stairs need to go." Sam grumbled as he wrote down on the little notepad he had brought with him. "Especially the ones out back." His lips pursed as he jotted down a few more things. "The flooring in here and the kitchen can be fixed - it's not too late." Sam nodded as h murmured to himself before putting the notepad in his pocket. "The rooms are in pretty good condition - just a little cosmetic." A grin split across his lips. "Overall it doesn't seem as bad as you made it seem."
Jared nodded. "But, as we open a couple things up - we shall see." He grinned and clapped his hands. "Seth and the Duo - go grab the sander and polishers." He looked at the next group. "Quil and Embry, grab the restock of the wood we have for our houses - at least two loads." Jared turned towards Jacob. "We are going to the Home Depot in Forks." He glanced at Paul with a smile. "Kim found a couple light and faucet fixtures that even I haven't broken yet."
"Thank you." Paul turned towards Sam. "What are we doing?"
Sam grinned. "We are cleaning before they get back. "The mop and stuff still in the mud room?"
"Yeah," Paul grumbled as he followed the other. He was not one that liked cleaning. But this was his mess and he was man enough to clean it up.
. . .
Loveless heaved a soft sigh. She was not a fan of Algebra. "You are going to come over and help me with all the stuff I missed . . . Right?" She whispered as she sat between James and Vicktor. Her lips pursed unhappily. Loveless kicked at James' shin when she didn't receive an answer.
"Of course sweetie," Vic whispered as he bumped shoulders with the brunet next to him. "James can help you while I fix your curls." He smiled and pulled at one of the curls.
She nodded and let out a soft yawn. Her dreams hadn't been that pleasant. But . . . At least with her issue on Wednesday an Emily letting her stay home yesterday. So today was Friday. At least that was something to look forward too. However, that little thought did not seem to be helping the day pass by any quicker.
It was raining again, the Coach was pretty much out of inside sports. And considering that Forks was one of the rainiest places - Loveless was a little lost on how that was possible. But digression was easy, Coach had given them a study hall instead. And Loveless had thought it was safer to go ahead and do Algebra homework now.
James had helped her catch up on everything else already. Was it sad that she hadn't really missed anything? Which just meant that Vicktor would force her to sit still has he did her hair. But of course she would end up with Algebra homework if anything.
Loveless frowned as James chuckled and erased her answer before showing her where she had gone wrong. "I am not a fan of this."
"I know sweetie." Vic murmured sweetly as he smiled. "But class should be ending in about five to six minutes." He shrugged his shoulders and bumped against Loveless. "Torture is almost over." He laughed at the look he received from the curly haired brunette.
Angela grinned as she took a seat on the bleachers in front of the trio. "So? What do we think?" Her lips pursed as she stayed focused on the others, fighting every urge in her body to glance at the ones they were going to start gossiping about. But Angela wasn't that kind of person. That was rude. But they were in high school - so gossiping was going to happen.
"Not sure."
She nodded and did a weighing the options motion. "Sort of reminds me of the others. Doesn't it?" She kept her voice a low whisper.
"Like a concrete mosaic." Loveless supplied when the other couldn't seem to find the words. Her eyes were flat as she looked at the two females across the gym surrounded by drooling males. "Beautiful on the outside. But crack and fake on the inside." Her lips curled into a sneer. "I get the same feelings about the Cullens." Loveless' eyes narrowed. "And the Damon guy looks like Devon." Her head titled to the side. "Someone is lying."
Angela's eyes widened as she twisted around to look at the brother of the two new girls. "Really think so?" Her lips were pursed as they narrowed calculatingly. "But they don't seem to act like family of any kind."
"True, but I don't like all of my family." Loveless frowned as a ping settle low in her chest. Why did that feel like a lie? She glanced at the Micheal Kors Lexington watch on Vicktor's left wrist. It was a habit that Vic had. One that James fed and she saw no reason to stop. She grabbed her books and pushed everything into James' book-bag with a smile.
Angela giggled behind her hand as she watched the interaction. She followed Loveless' start and stood with her books in head. "Well today is Friday, are we doing something this weekend?"
"We should!" Claire exclaimed as she popped up on the bleachers beside Angela. "Maybe a movie or something . . ."
Angela rolled her eyes. "A quad date is creepier."
"Aw come on!" Claire whined. "It would be a group outing. how can a group be awkward?" She gave the darker skinned girl a pout. "You are just being mean." She crossed her arms but didn't fight the giggle that fell from her lips at the look she received.
"Hi!"
Loveless eyes narrowed as she came to an unwanted halt at the end of the bleachers. She arched one eyebrow and stepped down. A smirk covered her lips as the other took a quick step back. Strawberry blonde hair. Stupid and angry, beautiful combination. Loveless took a deep breath. There was a big chance these two would annoy her as much as the Cullens and Isabella "Just Bella" Swan did.
Vicktor held back a hiss as James and him stepped down and stood on either side of Loveless. 'Who the hell does this tart think she is? I will burn her if she tries to touch our Princess.' He gave the strawberry blonde a sharp smile, she knew better - it was in her eyes.
'Take a breath,' James soothed through their link. 'I will let you play with your food when their are less people around'.
The chuckle that James sent though their mind link tingled down Vicktor's back. He sent the elder a smirk, his dark eyes warming over as they flashed for a milli-second. 'Stop it.' Vicktor shook his head and focused on the Corpse once more.
"Yes," Loveless blink as she looked at the outstretched hand. Did she really think that they would shake hands? her eyes were flat as she looked at the strawberry blonde. The heat in her chest circled. Loveless had felt it all day, lurking in the back. But it seemed that every time one of those extremely pale and overly annoying tarts came close - it flared. "Was there something you needed?"
The strawberry blonde smiled brightly - unfazed. "My name is Annette." She blinked, fake brown eyes wide and on display. "I'm new and looking for friends." She smiled even wide and tucked a couple strands of blonde hair behind her ear.
"And?" Loveless frowned as she watched the other blink. Contacts? She took a step back in between Vic and James. "Do I look ike I want new friends?" Loveless frowned. Just like Edwierd. I don't like her.
Annette smiled brighter. "There is always room for ne-"
"Fuck off." Loveless hissed. The heat in her chest flared brighter, running along her spine and flitting under her skin. The voice was back. Loveless didn't know who it belonged too - but she remembered what had happened last time she didn't listen. "I don't want to be your friend. I don't care about you. You are a fraud." Her eyes narrowed. "Find better contacts and go back to the Cullens." She sneered.
Vic jerked. "Okay," he smiled widely and wrapped an arm around Loveless' shoulders. He tucked her against his side and pulled her away from the strawberry blonde. "Are you okay honey?"
Loveless frowned. "I don't know." Her brows furrowed. "I just got this feeling." Her hand rose up to rub at her sternum. The fire was back. It burned without intention or reason. "She's bad news."
"Okay," Vicktor was willing to take that as an answer. The strawberry blonde was bad news. And the fact that the Pheorian in her could find it made him proud. "Now, while we were having a talk, Paul texted." He hid his smirk at the pout that covered her lips. "He can't pick you up - apparently they are fixing up the house . . . before you finish helping with it." Vic chuckled at the look. "He asked us to bring you home."
James glared at the blonde who stood in the corner of the gym watching. If the other was bad news, she was worse. He'd keep an eye on her. "Did I hear that you are helping to fix his house up?" A small smile covered his lips.
"Yes," Loveless grinned. "He'll be able to invite his sister down for a visit." She tugged on James. "I wanna stop at Sue's dinner for a thing of Apple pie first."
Okay? I sorta feel like it's more of an aimless Chapter. But this is a set up chapter.
