Better Days

Chapter 376

Author's Note:I am just going to skip over what happened in Alexandria and mention it with people who is discussing it. Sorry for the wait, I'm getting ready to get out of the hospital and with Christmas, you can imagine. Please review.

Carl and Lexi POV:

Lexi stood on the porch of the house holding a gun with Enid as she watched Carl as he shot a Wolf. She looked at Ron then at Carl. "We need to get back inside," she said.

"Come inside with us, we can protect you," Carl told Ron.

Carl looked at Enid then at Carl. "No," he said as he started to walk away.

"Carl come on!" Enid yelled.

"Go back inside with Hope and Judith," Lexi told Carl as he walked to the steps.

"Where are you going?" Carl asked Lexi.

"After that idiot," Lexi answered as she moved off the porch.

"Lexi, you want to risk your life after what he did?" Carl questioned. "Why?" he asked as he glanced back at Enid.

"Because it's what we do, remember?" Lexi asked. "Before we got here, you wouldn't have hesitated. You were the one that made your dad rescue Gabriel. So, I'm going to go after him and try to save his life. You need to get back inside, with Enid, and make sure that Hope and Judy are safe," she instructed.

"I'll go," Carl told her.

"No, you have to stay and protect your sisters," Lexi told her as she quickly kissed him. "Enid get him inside," she told the other teen as she ran after ron. she saw him go toward his house, and saw a wolf behind him. "Ron!" Lexi called to get his attention and that of the wolves. As both turned, she raised her rifle and shot the wolf.

"What are you doing?" Ron asked.

'Saving your pathetic life," Lexi responded as she pushed him behind the house.

"I don't need your help," Ron said.

"Right, that's why Carl saved you from being killed back at the house, that's why I just killed that Wolf before he killed you. You don't know how to handle yourself out here, you shouldn't be running out here like this. It's stupid and irresponsible," Lexi said.

Ron pushed away from her and started to walk toward his house. "Mom! Mom!" he yelled.

"Stay outside Ron!" a female's voice yelled.

Lexi watched Ron take a step up the stairs and ran and tackled him. "Shh!" Lexi told him as she pushed him against the house. "What do you think you are doing?" she whispered.

"Going inside my house," Ron said. "Get off, my mom may need help," he said.

"And what exactly are you going to do? Did you learn some kind of fighting skills in the past five minutes?" Lexi asked. "If you didn't, then you need to shut up and let me handle this."

"Why should I trust that you would want to help? You and your people have done nothing but cause trouble for my family since you came," Ron hissed.

"Seriously? Look around and notice who are the people on the ground dying or dead. They aren't any of my group, they are all your people, Alexandrians. You know why that is? Because we know what the hell we are doing. Now, do you want me to try and help your mother and brother or do you want to be an orphan?" Lexi questioned as she started to move around the side of the house not waiting for an answer. "Wait here," she hissed at him. Lexi checked her gun as she entered the the house by going through the back. She stopped in the the kitchen with Ron running right into and seeing Jessie use a pair of scissors to kill the Wolf. "Maybe all of you aren't that useless," she hissed to Ron as she moved over and bent down. She grabbed her hand as she went to stab her again. "She's dead, Jessie. Where is Sam?"

"Upstairs, with Mitch," Jessie answered. "Are you two alright?"

"We're fine," Lexi answered as she looked up at Ron. "I think he needs to stay inside until everything is over," she said.

"I'm not a kid," Ron told her.

"No but you were just saved by both Carl and I. You aren't even carrying a knife," Lexi pointed out. "Anything can be used as a weapon," she said. "Find one," she told him as she started to go out the door.

"Lexi, where are you going? You should stay here," Jessie said.

"I can't," Lexi answered "If you don't mind letting Mitch stay until someone can get him, I'd appreciate it," she said.

"Of course, and thank you," Jessie said as Lexi walked out.

Lexi walked out and noticed that most of the Wolves had been taken care of. She watched as Enid started going over the gate. She sighed and looked back at the house before deciding to follow her. Lexi shook her head as she started to climb over the gate. "This is one of the stupidest things you have done," she said to herself. "You are going outside the gates where there are walkers' to follow another stupid teenager. Yeah, this is smart," she thought as she dropped at the other side of the gate. "Enid!"

Enid turned and looked at her before running off.

Lexi sighed and took after her.

Ronnie's and Tara's POV:

Tara looked at Ronnie as Denise looked at Holly's body. "She's blaming herself," she told the other woman.

"She is," Ronnie answered as she cleaned the blood up. She turned to look at the other doctor and went over to her. "We did all that we could do for her," Ronnie told Denise.

"I could have tried harder," Denise said. "I should have worked on the less serious cases, and you should have handled Holly."

Ronnie looked at her then at Tara. "We both worked on Holly, we both tried to save everyone. There was nothing that could be done for her, not with the equipment we have," Ronnie said.

"We're going to have to take care of her, before she reanimates," Tara said.

"I can do it," Ronnie answered.

"No it should be me," Olivia answered. "Just go all of you," she said.

"You don't have to do this alone," Ronnie told her.

"She's right, we can wait with you," Tara said.

"No, I need to do this. Alone," Denise said. "Please leave," Denis said. She turned and looked at Ronnie. "There may be others that are injured that couldn't make it here, they need to be looked at," Denise told her.

"Just remember," Tara started to say.

"Just go," Denise said.

"All I wanted to say was to get her head," Tara said.

Ronnie squeezed Denise's shoulder. "Look, I know you don't want to hear this, but you need to listen to me," she told her.

Denise looked at her. "What?" she asked

"Doctor's loose people. It happens," Ronnie told her. "It's not something that you can get used to, and if it does, it's time to get out of the business. You can't blame yourself," Ronnie said.

"I shouldn't be in here, I should be in my room reading War and Peace. You should be here, alone, not me," Denise told her

"I'm not going to discuss this with you again," Ronnie said. "You're going to stay in here and you are going to learn. Don't forget the head," she said as she walked away.

Aaron and Phoebe's POV:

Phoebe took a breath with her hand on her side, as she saw Aaron looking at pictures. "Are you alright?" she asked him. she took the pictures out of his hand. "Why are you looking at these?"

"This is all my fault," Aaron told her.

"What do you mean? Aaron what's going on?" Phoebe asked.

"Daryl and I fell into a trap, I lost my bag, these were in it. They found Alexandria because of me," Aaron said.

"It's not you're fault," Phoebe told him. "You didn't leave your bag on purpose."

"They would have never found them without me, without these," Aaron said as he looked up at her. "Is that your blood?" he asked as he noticed her shirt.

"Yeah," Phoebe answered. "I went to the infirmary, got patched up, came back out and fought."

"You OK?" he asked.

"I'm still alive," Phoebe answered. "Holly died," Phoebe said as she looked out to the area. "But this still isn't your fault. They would have found us eventually. But most of us survived because you found Rick and his group. You bought them back here. You, Eric and I. If we didn't, if you hadn't decided to follow them, this would be a lot worse," she said.
