VIOLET COULD NOW HEAR THE SOUND OF THE OCEAN. The four of them were now standing on the soft, beige sand of the beach. They were facing two buildings, one of where Reggie's house used to be located.

"A bike shack right where my house used to be. Right here." Reggie sighed as they looked at the store named "Petals on The Beach."

"Yeah, I'm sorry man." Luke said as he patted his shoulder.

"They made the Myerson's house into a noodle shop. Why couldn't they have made mine a pizzeria or something?" Reggie dejectedly said as he continued to speak.

Violet took around and frowned, "The whole neighborhood's gone."

"I guess my folks are gone." Violet placed an arm around Reggie in place of Luke's and laid her head on his shoulder as he moved to stand in front of them.

"No, everyone's gone. Twenty-five years. Gone." Alex then entered in the conversation. "Friends, family, Bobby, everyone."

Violet's head lifted at the mention of their old friend. "Bobby, that's right. Guess that vegetarian lucked out. What do you think happened to him?" Reggie then asked.

"Do you think he continued on with music? Like maybe started a new band or gone solo? He did always love music just as much as us." violet asked as she remembered how the "vegetarian" flirt would, most of the time, be the first one to always make it to practices and book them gigs if Luke hadn't or wasn't able to book ones. Even though Bobby mostly made sarcastic jokes and seemed like he didn't care much, he really did care for all of them and was like a big brother figure to violet especially which made her sad for forgetting about him for a split moment.

"He probably just got old like everybody else and moved out." Violet was stunned at how casual Luke said that and crossed her arms.

"Dude, how are you so casual about all of this?" Alex questioned as he noticed the way Luke spoke as well. "I mean, don't you want to figure out what happened?"

"Well let's be real for a second. It's not like any of us were close to our families. My folks always regretted buying me that guitar." Luke started off with a slight glare. "Reggie, your parents were literally a fight away from a divorce. Alex, your parents were never cool again after you told them you were gay, and Violet, I'm sorry to say this, but you barely talked to your father once you found out that his health was declining and that he had a chance of passing away soon."

Violet bit back the profane words she was about to burst out at Luke for bringing it up. Sure she did that, but she wanted to spare herself some of the pain she would feel. It wasn't smart, but at least she wasn't totally avoiding him.

She instead bit her lip and turned around to face the ocean, "Well it's not my fault for missing them and wanting to know how they are right now." She replied coldly.

"Okay, none of us had it great." Alex spoke right after once the brunette buzzed out for a moment. "All right? But at least we had something! You know, what do we have now? And before you say cool teleportation skills, just know I'm not entirely okay with that either. Alright? It tingles... in weird places."

"My god, Alex, please never say tingles again." Violet commented as she scrunched her nose in disgust.

"Well, I'll tell you what we have." Luke then said as he got up from where he was sitting. "It's what we had since the day we came together."

"You have each other. Music..." Violet quietly said to herself, still facing towards the blue waves, but the boys heard and all shared a soft smile, but also a slight frown at the "you have" in the beginning.

"Guys, we have us. We're the only family we're ever going to need. And you know what else we have?"

"I'm going to guess death breath?"

"Our music, you dork!" Luke chuckled. "We have our music, you guys! People, actual people can hear us play! They can't see us, fine, but they can feel us. If I had my guitar, I'd play for all these people right now. Just like what we used to do down at the pier."

Violet smiled as she could remember all the happy faces from the children and adults that were by them as they sang like there was no tomorrow.

"Yeah, they can't tip what they can't see." Alex commented. Violet shook her head.

"It's not about the tips, Alex. it's about being able to play music and connect with these people around us. To make a kind of difference in their day. You know, make them smile when they could be feeling down. To lift their spirits up in a way." Violet turned around as she made brief eye contact with Luke as she gave a small smile for his little pep talk.

"I just wish I had my guitar." Luke expressed as he took a step back from them. Then, out of nowhere, his guitar appeared in front of him and Violet, Reggie, and Alex all looked with surprised eyes.

"Woah, that was rad! How'd you do that?" Reggie asked curiously as he was astonished at the way it happened.

"I don't know." Luke told as he looked back down at the guitar in his hand. "I-I-I mean, I wished for it and then it came in my hands!"

"I wish I had a puppy!" Reggie cut him off at the end, clapped his hands, and shut his eyes. He opened one eye a bit to see if it appeared but wished again once he saw it hadn't appeared. "A hamster?"

"Okay..." Alex stated as he looked off a bit disappointed at the leather-jacketed man.

Violet chuckled as she nudged Alex's shoulder, "Let him have his fun."

"Pizza?" Reggie sighed in disappointment as he turned and kicked the sand, then sitting down right after.

"Hey, I think I know something that'll cheer you up." Luke told Reggie. Reggie looked to him with an unhappy look.

"Honestly, please don't say a song right now." Violet sighed as she rubbed her temples. She didn't feel like hearing one at the moment and instead wanted to continue watching the waves. Luke just smiled and began to strum an upbeat tune.

He was strumming when Alex moved towards Luke. he gave Alex a look to say something when Reggie still made no movement.

"Come on, Reginald."

Violet laughed once again at his full name as Alex began to drum a beat on his chest.

Reggie's mouth twitched a bit as a smile began to form on his face. Luke smiled when he noticed, "One, two, three!"

"Can you, can you hear me?" Reggie sang as he instantly got up. They continued to sing and Luke looked over to violet to see if she would join in but she just shook her head.

The boys soon moved away from where they were previously standing, leaving violet there alone. She just shook her head and walked to sit closer to the ocean. She could hear the guys and smiled when she saw them approaching people from afar as the people were dancing and wondering where the music was coming from.

She turned back around once she couldn't hear the music and anymore and just watched the waves. She didn't know how long she sat there until she could feel a presence besides her and stiffened a bit when she realized who it was by the familiar scent.

"The waves look pretty today." Luke commented from besides her as he placed his guitar on the ground and sat.

"It does. What are you doing?" She asked without sparing a glance at him.

"Can we talk?"

"I really don't want to but because I am a nice person, fine. talk." So much for not talking about what happened between them right away.

It was silent for a moment as Luke was trying to find the correct words to say, "Listen, I'm sorry for what happened. I didn't mean for it to happened, it was just so unexpected and I-"

"Sorry doesn't cut it Luke, and you just what? it was unexpected but you just continued on and didn't stop it. Sure, okay." Violet scoffed as she shook her head. "Listen. We're all going through a lot right now with being dead and I really don't want to be reminded of what you did, and I'm not trying to blame my death on you but I died that same day. So, instead let's just forget about this okay? Let's just forget that we were a thing and that we just were friends. Just friends because that's all we should have just been." Violet rambled out as Luke just stared at her.

He shook his head sadly from her wanting to forget what they had, "Okay, but, V, please, I need to explain what happened."

"Luke, Via! Come on let's go! Julie's going to be back home soon!" They turned around as they heard Alex shout over to them and Reggie waved his hand.

Violet instead just shrugged sadly, "You don't have to explain."

"Wait-"

"It's okay."

Luke sighed, "So friends?"

"Yeah." Violet nodded as she poofed away. Luke doing the same after.

"Guys, stop! This is so wrong!" Violet voiced but the boys all ignored her and walked straight into Julie's room. "Am I just thin air to you guys! Come on, stay out here instead of just invading Julie's space."

"Technically, you are thin air." Luke pointed out to her but she just opened her mouth to say something back, but shut it.

"You're right, but shut it, Patterson." She opted to say instead as she looked around the room that once was hers. Alex and Reggie looked at each other surprised from the interaction. Violet just shook her head and chose to wait outside by the door for Julie instead.

"Oh, hi Violet!" Julie greeted with a confused look on her face as to why the ghost girl was waiting by her bedroom door. "What are you doing here?"

"I tried to stop them." Violet just told her as Julie furrowed her brows.

"Oh geez. You can come in if you want." Julie sighed as she invited Violet. Violet just nodded and stood back up as Julie opened the door to her room and entered.

"What are you guys doing in my room?!" Julie exclaimed as she walked in to see Reggie lying on her bed, Alex by her dresser, and Luke looking at the items on her shelf.

"They give me nothing but disappointment." Violet told the curly haired girl.

"Hey! That hurts! I thought we were besties, V!" Reggie exclaimed as he got up and dramatically fell on Julie's bed.

"Uh, we were looking for the kitchen..?" Luke lied poorly as Reggie pointed to him in agreement.

"This... this can't happen. It's creepy! Get off my bed, please." Julie said sternly as Reggie quickly got up.

Luke raised his hand as if he was a kid in class, "Hey, Julie? What's in the box?"

"That's off limits."

"Oh, okay. Girl stuff." Luke said with a chuckle then with a high-pitched voice to imitate the sound of a girl.

"You shouldn't have told him anything about that box." Violet told Julie as they both crossed their arms.

"Oh, like butterflies and glitter? Like violet's?" Reggie asked as he looked from Julie to violet.

"Wait, did you guys look through my stuff like this too?!"

"What? No" Luke said as his voice got higher with the no. Violet sighed as she rubbed her temples much harder.

Alex sighed, "Oh come on. I am so sorry for them."

"That's none of your business! And yes.. there may be some glitter." Julie responded as she watched Alex pick up the frame on her dresser.

"Hey! I actually picked something up!" He said happily but his tone changed as he dropped it right after, luckily on Julie's bed. "I dropped it."

Violet zoned out of the conversation. She's seemed to be doing that lately, zoning out, but she just wasn't really apart of the conversation unless she had the opportunity to make some witty or sarcastic remark at the guys.

She was so spaced out that she didn't even realize Ray standing in her until she looked to see the guys and Julie looking at her as if she was crazy.

"What?" Luke pointed to Ray making it look like he was pointing at her. She moved over to see ray.

"Oh, whoops, my bad." She apologized even though Ray couldn't hear or see her.

She then walked over to sit by the window as Julie told Luke off for how he suggested that she should tell her father about them. She rolled her eyes once again for the thousandth time.

"Julie..." Luke started off as he walked back to Julie's box.

Violet spoke as Luke was looking curiously over at it again. "Told you."

"Oh my gosh! I thought I told you to leave that alone!"

"I know! You just shouldn't have said nothing cause now I can't stop thinking about it so... what's in the box Julie?" Luke questioned again as Julie placed her arms on her hips.

"Luke, just drop it."

"It's just my dream box, okay!" Julie finally told Luke in hopes that he wouldn't ask about it anymore. "Whenever I get a thought, I write it down and get it out of my mind."

"Like lyrics?"

"They would be if I still wrote music like I used to with my mind." Julie said as her tone softened. "Now it's just full of stuff that doesn't make me sad."

"But you do play! We heard you this morning." Alex said as he stood up. Luke smacked him as Julie's expression changed once again to anger and annoyance.

"In the garage? So you were there too?!"

"We didn't mean to Julie. We had just gotten back from being out all night and when we came back you were already playing." Violet explained for them before Luke, Reggie, or Alex could terribly lie and make something up again.

"So, where is your kitchen, by the way?" Luke asked once again in almost a sultry kind of way as he layed on top of Julie's bed with his hand supporting his face.

Don't look, don't look, don't look

She looked. And she kept looking until Alex had nudged her to which she cleared her throat awkwardly and straightened up. Alex began to snicker which she cut him off effectively by simply glaring at him while Reggie was just confused.

"Ok. We need to set some boundaries. For starters, stay out of my room!" She yelled as she pointed towards her room. Luke got up from her bed instantly as Alex and Reggie quickly walked out, Reggie beginning to play his bass as he left.

"Again, I am so sorry for them." Violet apologized to the girl as Julie got the frame Alex dropped to bring it back to where it was originally placed on top of her dresser.

"This is just all too weird." Julie sighed as she looked at the photo. "You can stay, by the way. You're not too bad."

A grin started to form on Violet's face, "Thanks. I will take that compliment. Oh! I really like how you decorated the room, by the way. Way better than how mine was."

Julie was confused for a second until she remembered, "Oh! This was your room? Wow. Thanks, by the way." She smiled.

"Can I sit?" Violet asked as she pointed towards the end of Julie's bed. Julie nodded.

"Hey!" They both looked to see Alex's head through the door. "Um, sorry I didn't mean to bother you. did you get back into your music program?"

"No. No I didn't"

"I'm sorry. That really sucks."

"Thanks." Julie responded as she looked down and waited to see if he had anything left to say. "Is that it?"

"Yeah. Yeah." Alex replied as he looked around one last time. "This is getting weird. okay." Julie waved awkwardly as Alex left.

"Wow. They must obviously be deaf if they didn't let you back in." Violet told Julie as she tried to lightened her mood a bit. "Your voice is breathtaking! What a shame. Such a loss for them."

"Thanks, but it was just too late." Julie replied as she looked down sadly. Violet wanted to place her hand on the girl's shoulder for comfort, but restrained herself knowing that it would just go right through her.

"You know, I was in a similar situation before. Kind of." Violet started off as Julie looked at her curiously. "Um, I had this one performance, sort of for like a talent show. See, I was a nervous wreck since it was just going to be me, and I was normally with the guys. Eventually they cut my performance out since they didn't think I could handle it and another girl took my spot."

Julie looked over at Violet with a pitied expression, but Violet just laughed as she continued. "I asked the person running to give me another chance, but they said no. I was upset, obviously, but there was this one friend who told me that I shouldn't have asked. That I should just go up there and perform it regardless whether or not they allowed me to."

"So you're saying that I should just go and perform in front of them all to take me back in?"

"Well, yes. I guess so." Violet smiled. "You have this wonderful and beautiful talent, Julie. Don't keep it hidden away because you were declined the chance to at a music program. Go and snatch that chance back."

Julie sat in silence and thought as Violet stood up, "I'm going to go back to the garage, but just think about it, okay?"
