All Nightmare Long
Chapter 394
Author's Note:
Another chapter closer to the walkers' invading Alexandria. I know who needs to go where, so this is all setting it up. There may be an OC's death (in our main group), still haven't decided yet. He or she has to make there case if they want to live, so far it's quiet on that front. Review please.
Rosita and and Mitch's POV:
Mitch glanced at Eugene who was looking at the gate and the noises. He glanced at Rosita who was teaching th e class with a machete.
"Now when the blade connects, don't jerk it right back," Rosita warned.
"Stuck?" Kent asked.
"Like an ax cutting into a tree. It's easier to get a blade into the bone then out," Rosita said.
"So what should we do?" Kent asked.
"You should slide the machete down through the wound. One fluid motion," Rosita said. "Mitch, you ready to demonstrate?"
"Yeah," Mitch said as he took the machete and stood in position.
"You should slide the machete down through the wound, one fluid motion," Rosita said as Mitch showed them, the growling coming from the walls."You ease it through the bone," Rosita said as Mitch showed them.
"Easy, quick, non stop," Mitch said. Mitch motioned his head toward Eugene pointing out that he was distracted.
Rosita picked up the machete, and walks over to Eugene throwing down the machete at his feet.
"Hey! I'm a weapons novice holding a significant blade here and there are people in my proximity with open toed shoes," Eugene told her.
"That's right so get a grip," Rosita told him.
Mitch looked at the group. "Now that the open toed shoes have been mentioned, throw them out, wear sneakers. And seriously heals? That's kind of dumb," he said as he looked at the woman in heels.
"He's right," Roista said as she looked at Eugene. "What are you so scared of?" she asked.
"That would be dying," Eugene answered.
Rosita looked at him. "Dying is simple, it all just stops, you're dead. The people around you dying, that's the hard part, OK? Cause you keep living, knowing that they're gone and you're still here. What you should be scared of is living knowing that you didn't do everything you could to keep them here. Too upset to keep going? Are the noises scaring you or can I get back to my lesson?" Roista said. "Let's try this again," she said as Eugene walked off.
Glenn, Enid, and Lexi's POV:
Lexi stops when she sees Alexandria and looks back at Glenn. "it's surrounded," she whispered.
"Oh my God," Glenn said.
Enid looked at it and turned to go.
"Enid, you can't just leave," Lexi told her.
Glenn looked at her. "Stop," he said. He ran after her. "I said stop."
"What's the point?" Enid asked.
"Our families are in there, people that we care about are in there," Lexi said.
"The world is trying to die. We're supposed to just let it," Enid told them.
"No, you're wrong! We're not supposed to let the world die. And I sure the hell not going to let you die," Glenn said.
"i'm sure your wife will forgive you," Enid said.
"Enid, can you stop being so stubborn for one minute?" Lexi begged. "You're not alone anymore, weather you like it or not. We're not going to let you go do something stupid like running off by yourself."
"It's not for Maggie anymore," Glenn said. "The walls are still up, the houses are still up, we'll find out the rest," he assured her.
Enid looked at Lexi then at Glenn before she nodded.
Rick and Jewel's POV:
Jewel sharpened her knives while Rick worked on the wall. "Are you sure you don't need my help?" she questioned.
Rick smiled back at her. "I got it. You're teaching throwing knives later, so the knives need to be sharpened."
"Maybe I should sharpen them after the class, less chance of someone hurting themselves, or me," Jewel said with a smile. "You could ask for help, from Joey, Michonne, or some of the Alexandrian's. This is there home too, you know? And, don't give me that we should just keep it to us for now because there isn't time to bring them in because this is just reinforcing a wall," she pointed out. "You know the reason Iet Deanna hold Hope"
"You were showing her that you trusted her," Rick said. "You only let people you trust hold Judith and Hope, especially Hope," he pointed out.
"I didn't do it to show Deanna that I trusted her, I did it to show you that I trusted her. We aren't going to survive this by doing it on our own, Rick. We don't have to trust them completly but we do need to trust them somewhat, especially in doing this," Jewel pointed out.
Rick nodded as he looked at her. He started to hold a piece of board in place as Tobin walked by and held the board in place. "You look like you could use some help," Tobin said.
jewel looked at Rick as he glanced back at her. "I was just telling Rick that he should get some help, he wouldn't let me," she told him.
"Then I'm glad I came by," Tobin said. "You know I think we can build up a brace on this thing,"he said as he walked to get more boards.
"Let him help," Jewel mouthed.
"It's weird seeing you without a baby strapped to you," Tobin said as he walked back with a brace.
"Mika has her over at Jessie's," Jewel said. "I needed to sharpen my knives before I teach my class," she answered.
Rick caught Tobin looking at the blood coming from the wall. "Don't mean anything as long as we keep this up," he assured him.
"You know you scared the hell out of people when we first saw you," Tobin told Rick.
Rick glanced back at Jewel. "I know."
"Scared the hell out of me. That beard, the way you looked around like you were seeing things we weren't, hiding around the corner. Turns out you were. Things moved slow here and then things just started moving fast, too fast. But don't give up on us," Tobin told Rick.
"We aren't," Jewel assured him. "You just have to understand we've had to learn how to think fast, seeing everything, taking everything in and sometimes we don't have time to stop and explain," she said as Rick put down the hammer.
"We need more supplies," Rick said as he started walking. He glanced down at his wrapped hand.
"Do you want me to check that?" Jewel asked.
"No it's fine," Rick told her with a smile.
"Um, please tell me that I'm hallucinating and not seeing what I think I'm seeing," Jewel said as she saw Spenser using a rope to try to get across the wall.
"What the hell?" Rick questioned as he ran and climbed up the wall. Jewel followed him. "Spencer, get back here!" he yelled.
"Spencer, what the hell are you doing?" Jewel yelled. "Do you think your mother, your sister would want you to do this? To risk your life?" she yelled at him.
Eugene looked up from the other side. "Tara," he said.
"Spencer," Tara said.
"Spencer get back here now!" Rick yelled.
Jewel squeezed his arm. "Rick, the rope," she said as she got his attention that the rope was straining.
"Spencer move!" Tara yelled.
"Spencer!" Jewel called as the hook tightened and he dropped near the walkers.
"Go, keep moving, hurry!" Rick yelled.
Tara stood up. "Eugene, have Maggie and Rosita fire their guns from there posts," she yelled.
"Why?" Eugene asked.
"Just do it!" Tara said.
"Tara I can't in good conscience..." Eugene said.
"Just do it!" Tara asked as she climbed over the wall as she started to shoot up in the air.
The hook broke off the wall causing Spencer to fall some more and hit the wall and fell down, taking a few walkers' with him. "Spencer climb back up!" Jewel yelled as Tara kept firing and ran out of buildings.
"Spencer! Come on!" Rick yelled as him and Jewel started pulling on the rope to bring him up, Tobin and Morgan climbing up the ladder to help him.
Michonne grabbed Tara's hand. "Come on!" as she helped her back over the wall.
Rick stood up after he helped Spencer up. He looked across at Tara. "Tara you almost died once for these people," he said.
"What?" Tara questioned.
"Rick," Jewel said softly.
Rick looked at Tara. "What the hell were you doing?"
Tara looked at him and put up her middle finger as Michonne stood near her.
"Lost a damn shoe," Spencer complained as he leaned against the wall.
"You could have lost your damn life, and your worried about your shoe?" Jewel asked. "You need to get your priorities straight," she hissed at him.
"What. Was. That?" Rick growled.
"I was trying to help. I wanted to get to a car, draw them away," Spencer said.
"You ever make a climb like that before? You want to help? "Don't make us come running to save you. You got an idea, you come to me!" Rick ordered him.
Spencer looked at him. "Would you have listened to me?"
Morgan and Tobin both lowered there heads as Rick remained silent.
"Rick, let's go down," Jewel told him. "Come on," she said as she started to climb down, making sure he was following her. "Let's take a walk, you need to calm down."
Rick looked at her then nodded. "You can't tell me you didn't think that was stupid," he said.
Jewel kissed him. "Of course I think it was stupid, and irresponsible," she assured him. "But that doesn't mean that you get to take it out on Tara or any one else who went to help. That's what we do, all of us," she said. She kissed him. "You know you owe Tara an aplogzie," she said.
"I know, Rick told her.
