All Nightmare Long

Chapter 395

Author's Note: Two nights of insomnia suck. But ideas for the future ran wild, so that's an up side. The walker are coming, they are ready to break down the gate. Reviews please.

Mika POV:

Mika took a breath and walked into Sam's room, seeing ants crawling around the window to he plate of half eaten cookie on the ground, shaking her head. "Sam, it's Mika. Are you here?" she questioned. She waited as she looked toward the closet. "Sam can you come out here so we can talk please?"

"You can come here with me," Sam answered as he put his hand on the lock.

"No, I can't, Sam. Hope is sleeping and I have to listen out for her. But can you at least open the door a little so I can at least see your face? Please?" Mika asked.

Sam opened the door slightly and looked at her. "Are the monsters gone?"

"You mean the walkers?" Mika asked.

"And the mean men," Sam answered.

"The men are, the walkers' are still outside the gate. Why don't you come downstairs and help your mom?" Mika asked.

"It's safer up here, the monsters' can't get me up here. You should come in here," Sam said.

Mika sighed. "Sam, it's not safe anywhere. I know you don't want to hear that, but it's the truth. You have every reason to be scared, I'm scared," Mika told him.

"You are?" Sam asked.

"Of course, I'm scared, Sam. So is Rick and Jewel. We'd be stupid not to be scared, it means we are still alive. The people that broke in? I feel sorry for them, because before this happened, they were probably like us. I don't want to kill people, but you know what else I don't want?" Mika asked.

"What?" Sam questioned.

"Losing people by the hand of others," Mika told him. "We all have jobs to do, no matter how small or how scared we are. We need to help when and where we can. I help with Judith and Hope. I help with meals, carry water and stuff, just little things. Right now, your mom is extra worried about you because you won't come down stairs. She wants to help you but she also has to worry about learning how to protect herself and you and Ron. You aren't alone, you don't have to be afraid alone. We can help each other, but I can't help you if you stay in there," she told him as Hope cried. "I've got her Jessie," Mika yelled downstairs. "Do you want to come down with me Sam?" she asked hopefully.

"No, not right now," Sam said as he closed the closet door.

Mika sighed going downstairs to get Hope.

Carol and Mar's POV:

Carol bounced Judith on the porch as she watched Morgan walk the streets with Denise following at a distance behind.

Mar came out of the house drinking a glass of water. She looked at Denise following Morgan. "That isn't suspicious at all," she said. "Look what I have Judith, animal crackers!" she said as she handed her one. "What do you think that is about?"

"Nothing good," Carol told her.

"You don't trust him," Mar pointed out.

"Do you?" Carol asked her.

"He let those men go, so no I don't. Now one of the doctors is following him, acting like she isn't following him. What are we going to do about it?" Mar asked.

"You watch Judith, I'll follow them," Carol said.

"Take her to Jessie, I'll follow them, I'll see you there," Mar told her as she handed Carol the bag of animal crackers. "Don't eat them all Judy," she said as she tickled the girl.

"I won't be long," Carol said as the two women separated. She walked to Jessie's house where she was on the porch. "Hi," Carol said.

"Hey," Jessie greeted.

"I know you just took care of Judith this morning, and I know that Mika is over here with Hope, but they need help at the watch points after that thing with Spencer. Could you?" she asked as she shifted Judith in her arms.

"Oh, yeah, no problem. Unless you want me to take your shift?" Jessie questioned.

"No, I like being out there," Carol told her.

"Even with all them being outside?" Jessie asked.

"You can see everything, even inside," Carol answered.

"Um, let me just lock these up," Jessie said as she held out the pliers sheers she was using. Can you give me a second? You want to come inside?" Jessie asked.

Carol nodded and went inside and closed the door.

Mika looked up from her book and stood up. "Hey Judy, are you coming to hang out with Hope and me?" she asked as she held out her arms for her.

"Is everything going alright over here?" Carol asked as she handed Judith to Mika.

"Sam is on the stairs now instead of the closet," Mika said as she adjusted Judith. "You're getting heavy, Judy," she said as she took the animal crackers.

"Carol? Carol?" Sam questioned from the stairs.

"What Sam? Sam?" Carol asked as she looked at Mika.

"What happens if you can't live with it?" Sam asked.

"I told you, it eats you up. Can you come down here? I can barely here you,"Carol told him.

Sam didn't move as he started to talk again. "The people who came, were they the monsters? Did my dad turn into one?"

"Sam, we can barley hear you, can you please come down here?" Mika questioned.

"Mika's right what did you ask?" Carol questioned.

"If you kill people, do you turn into one of the monsters?" Sam asked.

"The only thing that keeps you from becoming a monster is killing," Carol said.

"Remember what I told you Sam? That I feel sorry for the people who came in here and killed some of us?" Mika asked.

"Yeah," Sam answered.

"It's the truth, Sam. The difference between the people that were killing us and us that we are doing it to protect our family, protect you, all of us," Mika said.

Jessie comes back into the living room. "Hey," she said as she took Judith from Mika.

"Thank you for this," Carol said.

"Oh yeah, no problem," Jessie answered. "Mika is being a great help, and I love having Hope and Judith around."

Carol smiled as she left and caught up to Mar. "Find out anything?" she asked Mar.

"They went in there," Mar said as she nodded toward the door.

Carol nodded. "Come on," she said as she went up the steps trying different keys to different buildings as Morgan opened the door. "Who the hell do you have in that cell?" she asked.

"Don't try to lie, Morgan," Mar said as she looked at him.

Joey's POV:

Joey watched as Carl walked down the street with Ron following him. He arched his eyebrow as he noticed Ron hand go to his back, grabbing a gun. Joey walked up right next to him. "Don't even think about it," he warned Ron.

Ron looked at him, and started to walk off without saying a word.

Joey grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him in between two houses. "You can't be stupid enough to think that you would get away with what you're thinking," he told the younger teen.

"I don't know what you you're talking about," Ron said as he went to leave.

Joey pushed him against the wall. "So you weren't following Carl?"

"Is that a crime now?" Ron questioned.

"You following him with your hand on that gun is," Joey said. "What do you think is going to happen? You're going to shoot Carl, take out the competition for Enid? There is nothing going on with Enid and Carl, it's all up in that small brain of yours," he said as he tapped on Ron's head. "It's not Carl's fault that Enid saw the light and doesn't want anything to do with you. You aren't like her, like us. If you were, you would know that if you make one move on any of us, you're going to be walker fodder. You know what would happen if I went and told Jewel what I saw? She would throw you over the wall for even thinking about it," Ron told him.

"You aren't going to say anything," Ron said as he went to hit Joey.

Joey grabbed his arm and twisted him to the ground. "Seriously kid, you aren't thinking. Carl gets a scratch, actually if anyone in my family gets a scratch, I'm going to kill you, slow and steady," he warned as he let him go and left.

Quinn POV:

Quinn walked out of the house and looked at Spencer as he passed her. "Spence, what were you thinking?"

Spenser looked at her. "Quinn, I really don't want to talk about it," he said.

"To bad," Quinn said as she went down the steps. "First you pull that thing with the pantry and now this? What were you thinking?"

"I was thinking that I needed to do something, that I couldn't just sit around and do nothing," Spencer said.

"So you decided just to do something as stupid as climbing over the wall, over hundreds of walkers? What would have happened if you died Spense? Mom already lost dad and Aiden, I don't think she could handle losing one of us or Bri. I couldn't live with losing you," Quinn told him.

"Rick wouldn't have listened if I had went to him," Spenser said.

"Maybe not, but you should have tried or you should have came to mom or me. You're smarter then this Spenser," Quinn said. "You have to be, we have to be," Quinn said.
