ALEX WAS PACING BACK AND FORTH. Luke, Reggie, and Violet were all watching him as he walked. Violet felt like she was getting dizzy from just watching him.
"I think he's practicing his model strut." Reggie whispered over to Luke.
"He's so nervous. He's almost making me nervous." Luke commented as Reggie nodded his head along in agreement.
"Alex, calm down. Please?" Violet asked him with a sigh. She was still upset from earlier but was a bit calmer now. She purposefully stood on the opposite side of the room away from Luke from being pissed at him still, but also because she cried in front of him and she doesn't like crying in front of others. She was a bit hidden due to the darkness and lack of light from where she was standing, which was perfectly fine to her.
"Okay, look. You guys know that I don't handle change well. All right? Death? That was a change." Alex started off as he stopped pacing momentarily to talk. "Okay? Then we became ghosts, all right? Another change. And now we can be seen whenever we play with Julie. Big freaking change!"
Violet agreed mentally. They were back for around forty-eight hours and all of these have happened already.
"Yeah, but bro, it was a good change." Luke tried to reason with Alex. "With Julie, we can play on stage again and be the band we never got to be. Come on, I mean you gotta be down for that." Reggie nodded along and smiled to what Luke was saying.
"Yeah, I mean who wouldn't be. I just..." Alex trailed off as he looked at the two boys. "You know, I just want to figure out why."
Luke stood up right after. "Forget why. I say we invite Julie to join Sunset Curve!"
"Yeah, totally!" Reggie agreed as stood up right after. "I mean like think about it. With a new lead singer, this band would be legendary!"
Violet frowned as she walked to stand next to Alex. "Hey! What about Violet and I? We're the lead singers."
"Right. What am I going to do then?" Violet asked right after.
"Guys, that girl has the voice of an angel, and she can make us visible! Without her, we're just like elevator music."
"I agree, but what am I going to do then. Just continue playing Bobby's guitar? I'm not even that good with it." Violet crossed her arms as she knitted her brows.
"You don't gotta be so mean about it." Luke told Reggie as he then turned to face Violet, who just looked down at her feet. "I can help and teach you more chords on it." He offered.
"Actually, I think I can do it myself." She declined right away. Great. So her song was given away, her position as lead singer gone, and now she was to play the guitar instead if they were going with the idea of inviting Julie to Sunset Curve. That sounds so wonderful to her.
"Are you sure?" He asked once again, a bit confused on why she wouldn't accept his help. He knew that she could only do the basic chords, so learning more chords would be helpful. Plus, if she didn't know, how was she going to learn? It's not like she could go and grab one of those new iPad things the Molina's have. She didn't know how to work those new types of technology.
Violet instead nodded promptly. Luke sighed as he turned to face back to Alex, who was now pacing back and forth again. "And we're on the runway again."
"Okay, i'm sorry, alright? I just..." Alex paused for a moment before turning to walk to the door. "I gotta go clear my head."
"Wait!" Violet called out to him right away and Alex turned to see what she had to say. "Can I go with you?"
Alex looked a bit bothered, probably because he wanted to be alone. Violet sighed, "Look, I know you want to be alone, but I promise you that I won't be bothering you. I just need to go somewhere new, but I don't want to really go by myself."
Alex gave a quick nod, "Alright." Violet smiled in appreciation as she walked over to where he was by the door. Alex tried opening the door but his hand just kept going through the handle.
"Dude, you're a ghost. Just poof out."
"Don't tell me how to ghost!" Alex replied back getting emotional. He took a deep breath and exhaled as Violet patted his back and the two of them poofed somewhere away from the garage.
"Hollywood, huh." Violet said to no one in particular as now she and Alex were standing in the middle of the sidewalk. She looked down on the ground to see that they were specifically at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Alex didn't say anything and the two of them just started walking, taking in the sights of new and old buildings that were there. There was a good amount of people there and it wasn't too crowded compared to when it would be the summer months and there were tourists everywhere.
Violet slowed her speed down a bit so now she was behind Alex. She looked wanted to look through the stores and see what they had even if she couldn't buy anything. There was no harm in doing a little window shopping.
She fastened her pace a bit, still looking at the items displayed when she bumped into Alex.
"Dude, why did you stop in the middle of the way?" Violet asked as she rubbed her arm. "I mean, it's also my fault but still."
Alex didn't say anything again and she looked to where he was staring at. "Holy sh- we're so dead." She muttered when she saw ghostbusters. She ran back when they were getting closer to them.
"Alex, what are you doing?! Run away from them!"
"No!" Alex screamed as he bent down and placed his hands in front of him as if he would be able to stop them."
"Alex, no!" Violet shouted once again, fear rising in her. Instead, those ghostbusters had just walked through him and Alex was fine.
Alex cleared his throat as he got back up and Violet ran back to him, "We don't talk about that."
Violet didn't say anything but just nodded. At least no one saw them freak out like that.
"Beep beep! Coming through!"
"Willie, slow down a bit, will ya?!"
Violet could hear the voices of two people loudly and didn't mind them. They were probably just having fun. She and Alex continued to walk down the street until she heard a groan and looked to see that Alex was now on the ground.
"What the? Alex!" Violet exclaimed as she quickly went and helped Alex back up. Another person was now by them helping the other guy back up.
She made sure that Alex was okay, which he just nodded, before facing the two guys before them. "Um, excuse me! Watch where you're skating next time to make sure you wouldn't skate right into people!"
"Oh, you dinged my board." The guy who knocked into Alex said as he looked through the slightly dented skateboard. Violet's jaw dropped a bit.
"Dinged your board? You ran over my fucking friend! Thank God he's okay and not bruised up because if he was, I swear on my keyboard-"
"Wait, Violet." Alex stopped her from ranting.
Violet looked annoyed that he stopped her, "What?!"
"Wait, I know you." The other guy finally said. "You're the chick I met the other day at the school!"
Violet turned back and saw the familiar blonde, "Oh, hi. Riven, right?" She asked to make sure. He nodded his head. "Oh, I see what's going on now."
"Wait, you're both ghosts?" Alex half-asked half-stated as he was processing on what just happened.
"Mm, yeah. Ever since I learned the hard way that..." The unknown guy answered as he unbuckled his helmet and flipped his hair. "Skating in traffic was bad."
"Woah! Dude, I love your hair!" Violet complimented as she watched how is hair flawlessly landed in place. She had the urge to touch it since it looked so soft, but stopped herself from doing so. Riven chuckled at her as he took his helmet off too. His hair looked so fluffy from being kept in his helmet.
Violet wished her hair looked like theirs. Even Alex, Reggie, and Luke's hair all looked better than hers and she was jealous of it.
Violet turned to see that Alex's jaw slightly dropped and he turned away a bit.
"Thanks." The guy with long hair chuckled as he looked at Violet. He then looked at Alex again with an apologetic look this time. "Hey, sorry I, uh, smashed into you. I thought you were a lifer and i'd just pass right through."
Violet furrowed her brows a bit as Alex asked, "A lifer?"
He looked a bit surprised as he and Riven looked at each other for a moment. "Yeah, uh, that's what we call people who are living."
"You're new to this whole ghost thing, aren't you guys?" Riven then asked the two of them.
"That obvious, huh?" Violet sighed as Alex just chuckled.
"Totally." The guy agreed and chuckled too. "Hey. I'm, uh... I'm Willie." He finally introduced himself. "My friend over here is Riven, but you already knew that." He said but facing Violet at the last part to which she just smiled.
"Violet." Violet introduced herself to Willie as she shook the hand he held out. He then turned and faced Alex to get to know his name. Alex didn't move so Violet had to nudge him a bit.
"Oh, uh, Alex." He finally said as he shook Willie's hand. Violet watched the two of them since it was quiet for a bit between the four of them. A small smirk crept its way to her face when she saw the look on both Alex and Willie's faces.
"So, what brings the both of you to Hollywood?" Riven interrupted both Willie and Alex to let them know that he and Violet were still there. "Sightseeing?"
"Picture with that Marilyn girl?" Willie cut Riven off as he smirked and raised his brows a bit.
"Actually, no. We've lived near here so we've been here plenty of times. Just seeing what's new, changed, and-"
"Minor afterlife crisis."
"Or we could go with that too. That's perfectly fine." Violet just nodded her head and decided to go with what he said.
"Clearing our heads. Well, I was until you tried to crack it open." Alex joked which made Willie laugh.
"I did pancake you, huh?" Alex awkwardly looked down.
"Hey, want to go somewhere else?" Riven whispered to Violet. "These two seem to forget about our presence." He chuckled.
"Eh, i'm used to it, but sure! Where to?" Violet agreed as she shrugged her shoulders.
"We could just walk a bit." He suggested. "Unless you want to do something else?"
"I'm cool with that." Violet answered. Riven picked up his board and the two of them started walking side by side down the Walk of Fame.
"Didn't think by 'seeing you soon' meant a good hour later." Riven started off. Violet just smiled sadly and sighed.
"Yeah, well I guess time goes by quick once your dead."
"I'll agree on that."
"Hey, if you don't mind answering..." Violet trailed off a bit as she caught the glimpse of oddly shaped cloud in the sky. "What was it like when you first died? Like were you stuck in some weird dark room?"
Riven looked at her weirdly before answering her question, "Um, no. The first thing I remembered after dying was waking up into this club. I'm a band member there now, which by the way, you should come and visit sometime. Then again, my memory is a bit fuzzy from the first year I was a ghost."
"Club? That's a weird place to be after dying I guess." Violet told as Riven just laughed and agreed. "But you said that you're a band member. So what do you play there?"
"I'm just one of the guitarists there."
An idea popped into Violet's head, "No way. Could you perhaps teach me guitar?"
"Aren't you a guitarist for your band?" He questioned since he saw her playing on stage.
"No. I only know the basic easy chords." Violet answered with a sigh. "I guess you can say I got demoted of my position in my band. I was a lead singer and then on keys. I got moved to rhythm guitarist so if Julie was to join our band, then those would be her stuff now."
"Oh, i'm sorry." Riven looked at her with a bit of pity but Violet just shook it off.
"It's whatever. So can you teach me?" She asked once again in hopes that he would agree.
"Yeah, sure." He replied with a bright smile. "Just let me know when and where and i'll be there."
"Sweet, thanks!" Violet thanked him happily. Willie soon passed them on his skateboard.
"Where's Alex...?" Violet asked as she and Riven looked around. They then saw the blonde drummer running after Willie and laughed.
"So where is this club you mentioned earlier?" Violet asked another question remembering that he recommended that she should come.
"It's nearby. I think you would like it there."
"Hm, maybe. I'll think about it." Violet replied as she placed her index finger on her chin. "Hey, race you to The Chinese Theatre over there!" She exclaimed as she got a head start and ran.
Violet didn't even realize what time it was until she noticed that the sun was setting. She and Riven were out the whole time roaming around Hollywood. She even learned some of the newer hip terms that kids these days used. She couldn't wait to use it on the guys and confuse the crap out of them. Haha suckers.
She got to know Riven a bit more. She found out that he was at Julie's school the other day because he apparently had a sibling he never knew about until after his death. He also was in a grade above her, so he was about to start freshman year of college when they died.
"Oh geez, I didn't even realize the time. I should go before I get killed again by my boss." Riven told Violet when they were standing right in front of a club.
"Is this the club you were talking about?" Violet asked but Riven just shook his head no.
"It's not in this part of Hollywood." Riven answered as he grabbed his skateboard and helmet. "See you later, V."
"Bye, Riv." She waved goodbye to him. She decided on walking a bit more until the sun was completely gone and it was just darkness.
She poofed back in front of the garage and made her way to walk through the doors. She expected the guys to be asleep already or for the garage to be empty because they chose to go club hopping again.
She didn't expect the three of them to just be sitting on the couch. She raised a brow as she walked towards them, "Something wrong?"
"Where were you?" Luke asked first. He didn't ask in a way like a parent caught their child sneaking back into the house but more of a curious way.
"Hollywood, I was with Alex. Well, until he and Willie forgot about me and Riven." She answered with a chuckle as she danced her eyebrows facing Alex's direction. Alex let out a light blush and looked down.
"Riven? Did you meet a new ghost friend too?" Reggie asked right after excited to know that she and Alex both met two new ghosts. Violet nodded as she proceeded to sit by the piano bench.
"Well you seem to be in a better mood..." Luke pointed out and Violet just shrugged. "Julie agreed to be in a band with us, except that we're joining her band now."
"Oh, okay. So I guess i'm Bobby's old position now?" She asked with a hint of disappointment but no one really picked up on that.
"Yea, if it's cool with you?" Luke told her but she just nodded again. "I can teach you more stuff on the guitar. Seriously."
"No, it's okay. I'm fine with all these new changes with the band." She lied. Luke's brows furrowed a bit confused as to why she was just fine with it. She decided to use this opportunity to say one of the new lingo words she learned from Riven. "No cap."
"Huh? What does that mean?" Luke asked again, completely confused on what she said. Alex and Reggie both looked at each other to see if either one of them knew what she meant.
She smirked as she got up from the piano, "That is for me to know and you guys can find out from Julie or someone. Night, boys."
