"Ms. Dupree." Vera walked up to Gabrielle and Randal, it had been weeks since the girl had come back to the temple and hopefully this meant her habits of murdering magical practitioners was under control.
Gabby tensed up feeling Midnight clawing at the surface, he wanted to rip Vera's throat out, he wanted to rip her throat out so fucking bad. Throw her blood all over the walls and eat out her heart. Gabby's eyes flashed silver for a brief moment before mentally telling Midnight to just sit himself down. There was something wrong with Vera though, the same wrong thing that made Midnight avoid attacking her the day he had killed Alyssa. Vera wasn't a threat anymore was she? Why didn't Midnight see her as a threat? "Grand Magus."
For a moment Gabby thought Vera was going to be a typical bitch, maybe yell at her or tell her to go clean something up for being absent from temple and her classes however Vera's harsh expression softened. "I'm happy to see you back." Was she being nice? What had happened while she was away?
"Thanks." Gabby looked at her a little suspicious. Was Vera possessed too?
Vera cleared her throat and finally snapped back to her usual self. "Well, shouldn't you be doing something?" Gabrielle smiled, there was the old Grand Magus. Bitter, bitchy, bossy, and targeting her.
"Yes Grand Magus." Gabrielle looked over at Randal and walked off with him by her side. "Well that was awkward. What happened to Vera, did she take brain damage or something?"
Randal looked behind him to make sure Vera wasn't watching them, she did that sometimes. Vera might not have her powers but she had her grand bitch mistress spidy senses. If you were talking about her like Bloody Mary she would just appear with a cold wind and speak up with that 'I'm talking down to you' voice. "Alyssa took her magic."
"Oh." Gabrielle scrunched her face before realizing what had happened. "Oh." Yikes, if Gabrielle thought that Vera had disliked her before, she was probably the top of her list now.
Vera walked back into her reliquary, her fingers pressing into her temple as she waved her hand to shut her doors only to remember that she couldn't. Vera sighed and pushed her heel into one of the doors pushing it shut, this had gotten very old very quickly. As she went to shut the other door however it started closing on its own, her heart racing for a moment. Turning slowly on her heels she worried about who might be in the room behind her, if Alejandro was standing there she needed to scramble to come up with an excuse. Maybe she could blame her headache. Instead she turned seeing Hamish there setting a drink down on her desk, thank god.
"Though it looked like you needed a hand."
"No, I need a drink." She pointed at the glass of bourbon and smiled. "Oh look, and there it is." Picking it up she started to toss it back, not even trying to sip at it.
"Are you feeling alright Vera?" there was a hint of concern in his voice. It had been a good couple of weeks now that Hamish had sort of shamelessly ravished her for the whole weekend and things had settled down a bit. Vera had gone back to her usual pissy personality but with a bit of extra snap. She had a shorter fuse the last few days and now she was complaining of headaches. "Maybe you need some water instead. You could be dehydrated."
"No." She put the glass down now, only the ice remaining. "I'm just really stressed." At least Alejandro was gone for now. Clenching her hand she was in one of those short fuse moments. Hamish mentally tried to buckle down because Vera looked like she wanted to hurt him right now. "I'm sorry but have you figured out what to do with Lilith yet? I can't have a possessed werewolf hanging around, it's dangerous and irresponsible. Someone could get hurt or god forbid have another student die because I can't exactly deal with that right now."
"Gabrielle Dupree is back." That was a win right? At least progress was being made with someone. "They want to do an exorcism on Lilith. I advised against it, I figured the risks are too high and they ritual is messy. The success rates are very low and…"
Vera interrupted, "Well…"
"Well what?" Was there something she had to share with the class right now?
Vera reached up playing with her hair a little. "I've done one before." Hamish didn't know if he was impressed or concerned for her. They weren't easy and certainly not for the faint of heart. Then again this was Vera Stone, he was certain nothing phased her anymore.
"Vera?" Hamish still had an air of concern to his tone.
"Well." She licked her lips and raised a brow sort of waving it off like it was nothing. "We had an acolyte some many years ago who we discovered was trying to increase their powers through...anyways" Vera rarely ever skipped details, this however made her a bit uncomfortable. "We had to perform an exorcism on him and it went well at first but."
Hamish stopped her a moment, "Where is that acolyte now?"
"Dead." She shrugged it off. "Have you ever seen a human body ripped apart from the inside? The good thing is demonic possessions are very rare since if they are summoned up here they have their own bodies to wander around in. So you shouldn't consider an exorcism for Ms Bathory."
"So what can we do for her?" Hamish was hoping Vera had some honest insight on the situation. "I don't know." Nevermind. "But, I could come to the den and see exactly what state she is in. That is, if it's alright with you." Was Vera offering her help? Maybe she really just wanted the demonic Lilith thing solved or perhaps she had some honest concerns for the woman.
"I don't think Randal would have a problem with that and Gabrielle is more in control of Midnight now. My only concern would be Lilith."
"Lilith I can handle." Vera pointed at him with confidence. "I've dealt with Lilith as a witch and a werewolf, I can deal with her as a demon too."
"But Vera you don't have you…"
She stopped him there standing up a little taller. "Just because I don't have magic don't assume I'm completely helpless Hamish. I still have all the knowledge I've ever learned on magic and because of that I am still better equipped for this situation than even you." She knew that he was so afraid she was made of glass without her powers but Vera was still and always would be One tough lady. After all, most of her suffering she' survived through before she'd ever even become a practitioner.
