Chapter 412

Author's Note: I can't tell you how happy I am that I'll be able to do a few chapters of orignal content coming up. These fighting scenes are hard to deviate from. I've got two whole months to play with and them thinking Summer is dead Don't worry, Jewel is going to be meeting Jesus with Daryl and Rick. Review please.

Alexandrian's:

Enid, Lexi and Glenn ran by the gate seeing the platform Maggie's on.

"It's shaking," Lexi said.

"Go get her! Go get her!" Glenn ordered.

Enid and Lexi looked at each other, hesitating. "You go get her, I'm staying with Glenn," Lexi said as she fired a shot. "Over here!"

Glenn fired a shot. "Hey, come here! Over here!"

Enid starts to climb up the wall as Maggie stands up,

"Glenn!"she shouts.

"Over here!" both Lexi and Glenn yelled at the walker.

"Maggie!" Enid said as she climbs over to the platform, Maggie helping her.

Glenn and Lexi fight off walkers' as they got pushed to the wall.

Maggie pulled out her gun, trying to fire as Enid throws the sheets to the other side. Maggie gets down on her knees as the gun doesn't fire. "No! Glenn! Lexi! Over here!" Maggie yelled as she hit the post.

Axel and Nikki both start to shoot at the walkers as they come from the other end of the gate trying to get the walkers away from Lexi and Glenn. Lexi and Glenn get pushed up against the wall both trying to block the walkers from attacking, but both think that the end is near. Suddenly, the walkers' start falling as shots come from on top of the gate. Lexi looks up quickly seeing Jes, Sasha and Abraham firing.

Glenn and Lexi both take out walkers' with knives as the others' continue to fire.

"Can you get the gate? Appreciate it pal," Abraham says as he starts laughing.

Jes arches an eyebrow as she shoots the final walker. "Glad you find this amusing," she said.

Sasha turned to help Enid and Maggie. "Come on we got you," she said as Daryl pulled the truck up. "Lex, get in the truck," she ordered from top of the gate.

"Glenn, come on," Lexi said as she looked over to the others fighting before she got in to the truck, next to Daryl, Glenn getting in next to her.

"What the hell happened?" Daryl asked.

"I don't know, just got back," Glenn said. "We can lead some of them away, they're scattering," he told him.

"You seen Summer?" Daryl questioned.

"She hasn't made it back yet," Lexi answered as she looked at Glenn. "So are we going to try to lead some of them away?" she asked.

"Na, get them all together, won't have to lead them away," Daryl said.

"How do you plan to do that?" Lexi asked.

"Distract the walkers'," Daryl said as he backed the truck up to the lake. "We're going to draw them away by fire, what ever is left, the group can handle it," he said.

"They are working well together," Glenn said as Daryl parked the truck and got out and went to the back and let the gas into the lake. Glenn and Lexi got out killing stray walkers.

Jes, Sasha, Abraham, Axel, Maggie and Enid met the truck as Daryl got out.

"Abraham, you mind driving?" Daryl asked. "I'm going to fire the bad boy again," he said.

"Not everyone's gonna fit, I'll ride on top with you," Jes said.

"I will too," Lexi said.

Daryl glanced at Sasha who nodded. "Alright," Daryl said extending his hand to Lexi then Jes. "Hold on," he told them as Abraham started to drive, he hit the top of the roof. "He hit the top of the roof. "This is it," he told them.

Meanwhile Rick looked the group. "Everyone back up!" he ordered.

Daryl stood up on the truck, and fired the grenade launcher. He watched as the lake lite up.

Lexi and Jes both stood up and watched the walkers' turn and start coming to the lake.

Rick and the others turn to see the fire. "All right, that's it, don't let up!" he said as they started to fight off the last of the walkers'.

Jewel and Mitch's POV:

Mitch came downstairs and looked out the window. "Something's happening," he said as Denise looked out the other window.

Jewel kissed the top of Carl's head before going to the window. "The walkers' are being drawn away, someone set the lake on fire," she said. "They can take the rest," she said.

"We'll have a lot of clean up to do," Denise said. "A lot of people to bury," she added.

"But, this proved that this isn't us against them, it's all of us," Mitch said.

"Yeah, but people had to die to get us to this point," Denise said.

"People always die, it's inevatable," Jewel said as she looked at Carl. "But now we are a community and hopefully can stop fighting amongst ourselves," she said. "They're coming, Mitch stay here with Carl," she instructed as she walked outside. She glanced at the group, taking count. "Where is Summer?"

"She got separated from us, we're going to go look for her as soon as we get cleaned up and help with clean up. Give any stragglers a chance to spread out," Jes said. "Ronnie inside? Daryl needs to be sewed up," she explained.

Jewel hugged Daryl. "We lost Ronnie, Denise is inside, so is Mitch," she said. She walked down the steps, and squeezed Michonne's shoulder before going to Rick. "Carl's resting, before you go and see him, you need to clean up and we need to talk," she said. "I'm not taking no as an answer," she said. "Michonne can you go get Mika, Judith and Hope and bring them to the infirmary? I think we're all going to be spending some time there," she asked.

"Of course," Michonne answered as she went to do it. Mar squeezed Jewel's shoulder as she went into the infirmary.

Rick and Jewel's POV:

Jewel led Rick to the bedroom. "What were you thinking?" she asked as she started the shower.

"I wasn't," Rick answered as he took off his clothes. "I wasn't," he said as he took her face in his hands. "All I saw was Carl dying, and I couldn't stand still," he said.

"I thought I was going to lose you too," Jewel said as she leaned her head against his. "And, I couldn't do anything, I couldn't be by your side because I needed to be with Carl. And it killed me," she said as started to cry.

"Shh, you were where you needed to be, where I needed you to be," Rick told her as he kissed her.

"Get in the shower," Jewel said as she kissed him. "We need to get back to Carl as soon as we can," she said.

"How is he?" Rick asked as he got in the shower.

"It's to early to tell, but his vitals are strong, and he's a Grimes, that makes the odds of him surviving are better than average," Jewel said with a smirk. She kissed him as he came out of the shower. "That was fast," she said.

"Just got the dirt off," Rick said as he kissed her. "Summer will be back soon," he said as he started to get dressed.

"How do you know?" Jewel questioned.

Rick looked at her. "She is her mother's child, strong, determined, and resourceful. She's a Dixon, so her chances of surviving are higher," he said with a smirk. He kissed her. "Ready?"

Jewel smiled. "Yeah, Hope will be needing fed soon. I'm pretty sure that she's probably done with the bottle feeding for today," she said as she walked outside with him. "What happened here, it was impressive. Everyone working together," she said.

"It was amazing," Rick told her. "I didn't think they had it in them, but they proved me wrong. We're going to make it," she said as she went into the infirmary with him. She hugged Mika as as she took Hope and sat down.

Rick took Carl's hand and sat down next to the bed. I was wrong, I thought that after living behind these walls for so long maybe they couldn't learn. But today, I saw what they could do, what we could do, if we work together. We'll rebuild the walls, we'll expand the walls. There will be more, there's gotto be more. Everything Deanna was talking about, is possible. It's all possible, I see that now. When I was out there, with them, when it was over,when I knew we had this place again, I had this feeling It took me a while to remember what it was because I haven't felt it since before I woke up in that hospital bed," he said as he wiped the tears away. "I want to show you the new world Carl. Iwant to make it a reality for you. Please Carl, let me show you. Please Please son don't die," he begged as Carl squeezed his hand.
