All Nightmare Long

Chapter 414

Author's Note: I was going to go see hat the mean saviors was doing, but thought I'd do more of the day after the battle. Plus Spencer is bugging me that he wants to make a scene. I mean it's Spencer, you don't think he'd not get drunk and be a jerk, do you? I don't, and he doesn't either. Please review.

Maggie, Glenn, Beth, Sasha and Lexi POV:

Sasha looked up from the counter as Lexi came downstairs after getting a couple hours of sleep. "Hey, sit down and have some breakfast," the older sister said.

"I want to go check on Carl," Lexi answered. "Good morning Jude," she greeted the toddler in the highchair.

"There hasn't been any word yet, if there was a change, we would have heard," Beth said as she fed Judith.

"So in other words, sit down and eat," Sasha said as she pushed dry cereal to her. "You went upstairs before we got a chance to talk earlier."

Lexi looked at her s she sat down. "I was tired, it was a long twenty four hours," she answered.

"Yes, it was. How did you wind up outside the gates?" Sasha asked.

Beth glanced at Lexi. "You must have known that was coming," she said as she gave Judith her sippy cup.

"It was after the wolves, I didn't know that the walkers' broke off," Lexi answered.

"That didn't answer my question," Sasha answered.

Lexi started to say something before Enid came in with Glenn and Maggie. "She came after me," Enid answered. "She saw me sneaking out after the attack on the town and followed me. She didn't want me outside the gate alone, and knew that I was running because I was scared of getting attached. Neither one of us knew that the walkers' had broken off, not until later. She refused to leave me alone out there. Then we ran into Glenn and both of them refused to leave me. They were both right about me running because I was afraid to get attached, but they both proved to me that I can't do things alone, not anymore."

Lexi looked at Enid then at Sasha. "It was stupid for both of us to go outside the gates, and I think we'll both admit that. And whatever punishment you want to give me, it'll be worth it because Enid admitted that she can't do things alone anymore," she said.

"I think with everything that's happened, and the fact that they both helped Glenn, you can over look punishing her, this time, right?" Maggie questioned.

"Yeah, I can over look it this time. Don't make it a habit," Sasha warned.

"She's not going anywhere until Carl gets better," Enid teased. She turned her attention to Glenn. "Have you talked with Mikey yet about Nicholas' death?"

"No one's seen him, not since the wolf attack," Beth answered as she picked up Judith. "Ok, bath time messy girl, then I'm going to drop you off to Carol or Michonne," she said.

"I'll take her, you go start help with clean up," Maggie said taking Judith.

"Can I go over to the infirmary?" Lexi asked.

"Go on," Sasha answered.

"I'll go with you," Enid said as she walked out with her.

Spencer and Emily's POV:

Emily knocked softly on the front door of Spencer's house. "Spence? Are you here?" the young red haired woman asked as she went into the kitchen and put down a bowl of food down on the counter. She picked up an empty whiskey bottle and sighed, before she started to go upstairs. "Spencer? It's Emily, I brought you some breakfast," she said as she saw the door to Deanna and Reg's bedroom door open. "Spence?" she asked as she went inside the bedroom seeing Spenser sitting on the floor, holding another half empty bottle. "Oh Spence, have you been drinking since after the battle?" she asked as she sat down.

"Does it matter?" Spencer asked.

"Of course it matters, Spence. I can't even imagine how you are feeling right now, and I wouldn't even try to tell you that I do, but this isn't going to make it better," Emily told him. "Quinn is going to need you today, she's going to go into Jessie's house and get your mom's body, that isn't something she should do by herself," she pointed out.

Spencer gave a half hearted laugh. "Let Rick help her," he said as he took another swallow of the booze.

"It's not Rick's responsibility, she wasn't his mother, she's yours. Yours and Quinn. Is that something you want her to do by herself? You'll regret it for the rest of your life if you let her go in there by herself. Even if Gus goes with her, or Rick goes with her, she is going to need you. You need to stop drinking, and think about this clearly, because you'll regret it if you aren't there with her, supporting her," Emily said as she reached for the bottle.

"How would you know how I'll feel? Did your mother get bit? Did you lose your father in the middle of town? Did you lose your brother on a run with Rick's people?" Spencer questioned. "No, you didn't. Your brother was one of the ones that brought those people in," he said accusingly.

Emily took the bottle out of his hand. "You've had enough," she said as she walked to the bathroom and poured it out. "Yes, Eric, Aaron and Phoebe brought Rick, Jewel and the others in. But they are not responsible for Reg's death, that was Pete. They aren't responsible for Aiden's death, that was his fault and the biters' fault. Quinn was on that supply run too, and she told you what happened. And, you know how honest she is. Your mother was bit," she said as she walked out of the bathroom, seeing Spencer standing up.

"Most of the dead was ours and not there's," Spencer said.

"Rick and Jewel's son is laying in the infirmary, fighting for his life. Summer is missing, she may be dead. And Ronnie was bit," Emily reminded him. "There is no us and them, Spencer, it's all of us. Come on, let me help you into your room, and I'll bring up your breakfast," she said.

"Just leave, Emily, I don't need your help or your pity," Spencer said as he stumbled to his room.

"You know where I am, if you need to talk,"Emily said as she walked downstairs and sighed. She walked out to the steps and saw Aaron standing outside the house. "Aaron, what are you doing here?"

"Eric thought you'd be over here, wanted to make sure you were alright,"Aaron answered as he slung his arm around her. "He's been drinking?"

"Yeah, ticked off at you, Eric and Phoebe for bringing in Rick and his people. Blaming Rick and the group for Reg's, Deanna, and Aiden's death. Eric didn't need to be worried about me, Spencer would never hurt me. I'll go check on him later, after he has a chance to sleep it off," Emily told him.

"Hey we're always going to worry about you, you're our little sister," Aaron told her.

"I'm going to go check on Carl, and see if they need any help with anything," Emily said.

"Most everyone is waiting outside, waiting for news. I think we're going to start cleaning up, it won't all get done today," Aaron said as they went toward the infirmary.

Michonne, Jes, Jewel, Tara and Rick POV:

Jes walked into the infirmary and glanced over at Denise and Tara. She walked over to them as she glanced over to Jewel and Rick sitting next to Carl. "Any change?"

"He's stable, but he hasn't woke up yet. It's not that surprising though, his body is fighting, and that takes a lot of recovery time. I'm doing what I can, but I'm not Ronnie or Pete," Denise said.

""No you're Denise, and that's good enough," Tara said.

"I'd have to hurt you if you were a drunk like Pete," Jes told her. "Have they left his side?"

"Jewel did long enough to check on Judy, Hope and Mika. She did tell Rick that they needed to take care of themselves, but she hasn't made any move to leave his side," Tara said.

"Not that I blame them," Denise said. "Jewel, as a former emergency room nurse, knows that the danger is still there. Plus isn't there a chance that Summer is gone? She hasn't returned yet, has she?" Denise questioned.

"Summer is fine, she's one of the toughest people I know. She's a fighter," Tara answered.

"It hasn't even been twenty four hours yet," Jes said. "Don't let me hear you say something like that again, they don't need to worry about that right now. We owe them to be strong for them," Jes said. She looked up as Michonne came in with Judith. Tara smiled as she walked over to Michonne and Judith. "Hey, Jude, did you come to visit us?"

Michonne smiled as she kissed Judith's head. "She's giving us trouble getting down, we thought maybe Rick could get her settled."

Jewel nudged Rick's arm. "Someone came to say hi daddy," she said with a smile. "Hope still sleeping?"

"Carol just put her down. She fixed breakfast and told me to send the two of you over. I'll stay with Carl," Michonne said as she handed Rick Jewel.

"Food and a nap with Judy sounds good, doesn't it Rick?" Jewel asked.

Rick nodded as he kissed Judith's head. "I guess I don't have a choice do I Jude?" he asked.

Jewel kissed the top of Carl's head. "We'll be back sweet boy, Michonne is going to stay with you," she told Carl.

"I'm here too, helping Denise," Tara said.

"You'll come get us if anything changes?" Rick asked.

"Of course, Rick. He's family," Michonne said.

"Both of you look like your going to drop, the rest of us had a chance to take a a rest," Tara said.

"Come on, I'll walk you two over to the house, just to make sure that you actually get there," Jes said.

"Beth already fed Judy, so she's ready for her nap," Michonne said as she sat down beside Carl as she took his hand.

Jes walked out with Rick and Jewel. "I've started making guard duty shifts. Of course, we don't have a main guard tower, right now, but we can use the top of the wall. I'll talk with Abraham about starting the repairs of the wall, then we can work on the towers," she said.

"Jes, you don't have to do all that, Rick, Quinn and I can start a list," Jewel said as she walked with them.

"Quinn is mourning, and the two of you have Carl to worry about. Glenn, Joey and I are already talking about heading out tomorrow to look for Summer. We won't stay out over night, hopefully we won't have to go out more than one day and we'll have Summer back here. But I'm willing to go out as many days as it takes," Jes said.

"Thanks," Rick said. He stopped and looked at the town, people were already out and working. "We're going to be alright," Rick said.

Jewel kissed his cheek and rubbed Judith's back. "We are."
