It felt like the start of their relationship all over again and that was to say Vera was the absolute driving force of their sex life. Was the reliquary the best place to be doing this right now? Absolutely not, was Hamish going to turn down sex? Absolutely not. He felt a bit bad pushing her into the bookcase but she wasn't complaining about it so he wouldn't worry too much. His only concern was Vera wasn't such a quiet princess anymore. As Vera held onto a top shelf she groaned holding her eyes shut while Hamish drove into her.

A few books had fallen off the shelf making Hamish worry about if one fell off and hit Vera because he knew as absolutely randy as she was being this week she was also getting very short fused and snappy. As Vera started getting loud again Hamish very not so tactfully put a hand over her mouth. Again Vera wasn't complaining and honestly she was going to have to thank him before Acolytes started getting freaked out. It was one thing at her place where nobody was around to hear them but it was another when you had people in the temple.

When Vera still wasn't quieting down Hamish pressed his lips into hers for the last few thrusts until she finally stopped tensing up and trembled a little in his arms. A sure sign Vera's noisy period was well out of the way. Hamish finally let himself go, making Vera laugh a little. "You look so ridiculous."

Hamish waited a moment catching his breath and trying to recover, he had no idea how Vera went from an 'o' face to, next round in a split second but it was unsettling. "Excuse you?" Hamish didn't want to have her poke fun at his facial expressions again because he was well aware she found then to be ridiculous and he'd tend to agree. "You can say all you like so long as you stop trying to swear and alert the whole town you are getting a little action Vera." Her cheeks turned a little red at that statement, it was honestly just as shocking to her as it was to him. At least the first time, now it was just something she worried about until she didn't care about anything. "You know our child is going to have a very colorful selection of words they are learning."

Vera pushed him back, falling a little when she had to hold up her own weight. Hamish was quick to catch her though. "Whatever, you with your dictionary flashcards." He poked at him before picking her pants up off the ground and searching for her underwear. Once they were located she slipped them back on and started slipping her legs back into her pants.

"Vera it's proven that babies start learning before they are even born and it can help their brains develop faster and make more connections early. I'm just trying to get a good head start because getting into the top private schools around here isn't easy. In fact we have to be on the waiting list now and they haven't even been born yet. Plus you know they are going to have to start learning Latin now which is why I put our names in for St. George Academy."

Vera picked up his pants and threw them at him while she buttoned up her shirt and shook her head. "Put your pants back on Hamish."

"Don't tell me that you aren't concerned about our kid's future education." If she said no he was calling her out because he knew Vera hadn't been given the best opportunities from the start. Everything she had she fought for and luckily their child wouldn't have to decide between school supplies and looking nice or struggling for scholarships in order to attend a university like Belgrave. Besides not only was their child a Legacy but they were also the offspring of a werewolf and the Grand Magus. Talk about shouldering a lot of pressure without even having taken their first breath yet. It gave Hamish anxiety for them.

"No, I care I just am not necessarily thinking they need to go into private schooling. I didn't go to a private school and I'm Grand Magus. I'm more worried about letting them just have a childhood. You know, tree houses, playing in the mud, pillow forts. That sort of thing." It was shocking to look at them both and seeing Vera as the Grand Magus and perfectionist talking about letting their child build a pillow fort when she got upset if the towels weren't folded the right way. Should he be concerned that some sort of magical brain parasite had gotten her?

Hamish was about to say something when a knock came to the big double doors. Instead he started putting his pants back on, almost stumbling as he ran to the bookcase and snapped his fingers to open it with just rolled her eyes and sat down as she put her jacket on. "Yes?" When the doors swung open Vera stood up, her expression of shock on her face. "Mr. Morton." Jack looked tired and dirty, huffing as if he's run here and with a black robe covering his body she assumed he had, as a werewolf. "Funny you show up here now." She tugged at her jacket and sat down again. "What made you decide to return?"

Jack approached her desk, his hair disheveled and the expression on his face told her the news wasn't going to be good. "I need your help, with Alyssa."

Vera stood up looking pissed, what had she expected? She'd let him take the Vade Macum. "I swear if you tell me you resurrected her."

"Fine then, I won't."

Maybe Vera had been a sweet little kitten a moment ago but now she was pissed, very pissed and very disappointed. "Have you learned nothing here Jack? Necromancy is messy, very messy and bringing someone back from the dead is, it should never be done."

"But I came back." He tried to argue with her.

"No, you never died."

"Well it's too late for one of your famous lectures Vera, I need your help. You are the only one I can turn to."

"You mean without someone else putting Ms. Drake back down. Hamish, Lilith, Randal." If they knew Alyssa was alive again they would kill her and eat her heart. If ever the wolves were against any sort of magic it was necromancy and it was the level of necromancy they were dealing with now.

"Please Grand Magus, feel free to yell at me all you like after we get Alyssa back to the temple. You can throw me out of the order, you can lock me up, I don't care. We just need to help her."

This is why the council thought she was so soft, if she followed her gut she would have Jack turned into the council and dealt with and Alyssa Drake killed. The council would have loved those choices, they would have felt so much more confident in her leadership and everyone who was giving her trouble within the temple would suddenly gain the fear and respect she deserved. It might even pave a rather easy path for her child. If the council was more confident in her leadership perhaps they would see this as a bold opportunity to evolve the order. A new system that was welcoming to the wolves and perhaps more forgiving to all their futures. It would possibly change the world forever but Vera couldn't. Her choices would push her further into trouble and she knew it because she had a heart and she had compassion. "Alright Mr. Morton. Let me grab Hamish th…"

"No." Jack sounded frightened. "I don't trust the other wolves."

"Alright then, I'll get Nichole."

"Fine, you do that and get your car, it's a long way off."

Vera watched Jack walk out of the room and turned to look at the bookcase. She wanted to tell Hamish about this but out of respect for Jack's concerns she wouldn't. Instead she grabbed her phone and sent him a quick text, 'I'll be right back, need to deal with my day job. Professor was caught sleeping with a student.'

Vera started walking out when a text came back. 'Was it you?'

'That was bad, I didn't mean it like that.'

'I love you beautiful, good luck with the horny professor.'

She shook her head and slipped her phone back into her pocket before leaving the Reliquary.

Jack wasn't lying when he said it was a long trip to an abandoned farm house. Pulling the car up the driveway Vera got out of the car and pulled off her sunglasses looking the place over. "Well, certainly looks like the perfect place to resurrect a dead girlfriend." Maybe a great place for the set of a slasher movie too.

Nichole got out of the car looking at Jack, "You brought Alyssa back?"

"Can we worry about that after she is safe?" Jack looked back at Nichole and slammed his door shut. "Besides, you brought Lilith back from the demon realm."

"Let's stop arguing like children please so we can go save Ms. Drake." Vera turned around to face them using her typical condescending tone of voice. Jack had missed her, sort of. She was a hard ass and normally insulting someone but she was a great Grand Magus.

As they approached the house Jack walked up a little closer to her and stuck his hands into his pockets. "Thanks for this by the way."

"You are welcome." She raised her chin a little trying to keep her stony expression. "I must say in your situation I might have done the same."

Jack smirked, "Hamish?" Vera glanced over at Jack making him realize Randal had been right.

The trio walked towards the house, stepping up the old rotting steps. When Nichole grabbed the railing it broke beneath her making her jump back and collide into Jack. "This place is almost as bad as the den." Vera scoffed. "Almost." She opened the door watching it partially fall off the hinges. Okay, maybe the Den was a little nicer but not by much. Vera stepped inside the house and looked around. "Alright Jack, where is Alyssa?"

"Here, with me." A voice spoke down from above them looking over the railing. Vera looked up, not recognising the man but there was something about him that was familiar. He started descending the staircase making Vera grab her side and feel a sting of pain again.

"Oh, dammit not right now." Vera clenched her teeth starting to feel like that might not be a good sign.

Jack looked over at Vera, "Are you okay?"

"Dormi." The man on the steps spoke knocking both Nichole and Vera unconscious.

Jack stepped forward looking up at the man, "Alright, I kept my end of the deal now give me Alyssa back."

The tall grey haired man looked down at Vera, a smirk crossing his face. "Of course, a promise is a promise." The man chanted something in old norse before cutting his hand. With a flash of light Alyssa fell down to the ground seeming to come from thin air. Rushing forward Jack grabbed Alyssa holding her tight to his chest. He ran his fingers through her hair and looked back up at the man.

"Nichole too, she wasn't part of the deal."

"Lucky for you I don't need her, I promised to help you raise Alyssa and I've done that for you, then I promised to return her once you brought me Vera and I've done that for you. Now if you would be so kind please take your friends out of my sight." He crouched down picking up Vera from the ground, her arm falling from her side and hanging as he lifted her up.

"Are you going to hurt her?" Jack asked, a little concerned.

"Hurt her, no." He raised his hand, "Kill her, yes." The man's face changed, showing sharp teeth as he drug his hand across his fangs, cutting his flesh. "Haec forma et omnia quae noto plicentur." Jack tried going after him only to have him vanish.

Standing there he ran his hands through his hair regretting his choice. "Shit."
