All Nightmare Long

Chapter 426

Author's Note: Hurricane Irma has left us without power. I will not be able to post until we get it back but hopefully can write without using to much power on my Kindle. I'm at 100% on the Kindle. This birthday weekend sucks. I can't go check my place yet, probably tomorrow. Work got hit. So whenever I can post, review.

Rescue group:

Jewel touched Summer's face as she hugged her. "Are you hurt?" she asked as everyone started to come around.

"Summer," Rick said as he came over and hugged her.

"Dad," Summer said as she buried her head in his neck.

Rick kissed the top of her head. "Are you OK?"

"I think so," Summer said.

"You've got other people who want to hug you, so we won't hog you," Jewel said. "But I get you back," she warned.

Daryl rammed his bow into the head of the corpse of the man that was holding Summer. "Ass," he said as he hugged Summer. "Love you kiddo."

"Love you Uncle Daryl," Summer said. "Is Alexandria alright? Is everyone OK?"

"We'll talk about it on the way home," Mar said as she hugged her.

"So, it looked like we missed some fun," Glenn said. "You're hurt again, can't leave you alone can we?" he teased as he hugged her. "Don't do that again," he warned.

"Wasn't my intention," Summer told him. "Did David go back to Alexandria?"

"No," Jes answered. "He said you guys were shot at, that you got separated, is that true?"

"Not exactly," Summer answered.

"Come here," Jes said as she reached out her arm for a hug. "I'm making an exception this time," she said as she hugged her. "Some one else is waiting patiently to say hello," she said as she nodded toward Joey.

"Yeah," Summer said as she went over to him. "Hey," she said.

Joey smiled as he hugged her and kissed her.

"Let's get started on the way home, we want to try to make it before dark. We've got a lot to discuss and catch up on," Rick said. "Joey you got her?"

"I got her," Joey said.

"So who were those dickheads?" Daryl questioned as they walked.

"Part of a big bad group led by an egotistical hothead that carries a bat wound in barbed wire that he calls Lucille. He seems to get off by banging people in the head with the bat and he does it with a big old smile the whole time. And he creepily hit on me, like with blood dripping off his bat," Summer explained.

"His name Negan?" Abraham questioned.

"You've had the displeasure?" Summer questioned.

"Not personally, his lackeys," Daryl said. "How did you get away from him?"

"I wasn't with him. People found me unconscious, took me to there place, Negan paid a visit. I had already wanted to try to make it home, to check on everything, but after that, it was time to bolt," Summer said.

"Who were these people?" Jewel questioned.

"It doesn't matter. The less we have anything to do with people who are involved with Negan, the better. If I never run into him or his people again, it's not soon enough," Summer told them. She looked at Joey. "He mentioned David, he didn't know that we know each other."

"We'll discuss David when we get on the RV. I want to know exactly what went down out there," Jes said.

Jewel touched Summer's forehead. "You're warm. We need to get you to Denise," she said.

"What about Ronnie?" Summer questioned then saw the look on people's faces. "Oh," she said. "How?"

"She was bit, she didn't want Beth to try to save her by cutting off her arm. It was her choice," Rick answered.

Jes went ahead and pounded on the RV door. "It's us," she said.

Beth opened the door. "Summer!" she exclaimed as she came out of the RV almost knocking her down.

"It's good to see you too, Beth," Summer said as she struggled to keep standing with Joey's help.

Jewel took a breath. "Everyone get loaded up, I want to have a minute alone with my oldest child," she instructed.

"Mar and I'll head back to Alexandria, tell Denise to get ready, check on everyone," Daryl said.

Mar hugged Summer again. "See you back there," she said.

Rick gave Jewel a kiss then squeezed Summer's shoulder. "Don't be to long," he told them.

"We won't," Jewel assured him as she kissed him. Jewel led Summer to the back of the RV and let her lean against it. "I was so sure that you were gone...and it almost killed me," she said as she wiped the tears away.

"I'm OK, I'm right here," Summer assured her.

Jewel took a breath and steadied herself. "Carl got injured, badly, and you were missing. That's the worst part of all that happened, not knowing if Carl was going to make it, or if you were alive. I can deal with walkers' breaking into the walls, human threats, but my children being hurt and missing, that's something I can't when I saw that man holding you, I wanted to do more than stick a knife in his head," she told her as she brought her into a hug. "You're grounded," she said.

"Nice try," Summer responded. "Is Carl OK?"

"Ron shot at your father, he missed, got Carl in the eye. It's a miracle that he's still alive, and I'm thankful that both of you are safe," Jewel said.

"Let's get this show on the road," Abe said as he opened the RV door open.

Jewel helped Summer up the steps. "Let her have the bed," Jewel said.

"All I have is tylenol," Aaron said as he handed her a glass of water.

"It's fine, thanks," Summer said as she took it.

Jewel fingered the knife she had taken off Summer. "This is a nice piece of work," she complimented. "Where did you get it from?"

"One of the people that rescued me, he makes weapons. It was one of his arrows that the savior's used to shoot me with," Summer said.

"So David didn't shoot you?" Axel asked.

"No, why would you think that?" Summer questioned.

Axel looked at Jes. "He stole our car and took off with supplies," he said.

"And he didn't want me to look at his gun shot wound," Jes said as she leaned against the wall.

"He wasn't shot when we separated. It was weird, we were trying to get back to Alexandria and got scared or something, tried to convince me that we should take our chances. But he was perfectly fine when I left him," Summer said.

"He wanted us to abandon going back to Alexandria too," Emily said.

"We know where David is, are we just going to let him be?" Aaron questioned.

"He made his choice," Joey answered. "We don't leave people behind, I don't care if he's my brother or not."

"So what happened in Alexandria?" Summer asked. "What was that horn?"

"The wolves, they got inside, then the tower fell and breached the wall," Michonne said.

"We lost Ronnie, who else?" Summer asked.

"The Anderson's, Deanna, Nicholas, Mrs. Neudermeyer, other Alexandrians'," Rick said.

"Mom said Carl was shot, by Ron? But he's OK, he's out of danger?" Summer questioned.

"He's going to recover, he's going to have to learn how to do everything with only one eye, but he's alive," Glenn said.

"He has all of us to help him, he isn't going to be alone," Jewel said.

"So you met Negan?" Abraham asked from the front of the RV.

"Unfortunaly, yes. It's not an experience I want to relive," Summer said.

Joey squeezed her hand. "I'm sorry that you had to live through that. I'm sorry that my brother left you in that position," he said.

"You aren't responsible for what David did," Jewel said.

"He's my brother, I brought him in, I vouched for him," Joey reminded them.

"And Merle was my brother and Daryl and I certainly couldn't control him," Jewel said.

"If David tells him about Alexandria, we're all in trouble," Summer said.

"We can handle Negan, we don't back down from a challenge," Rick said.

"Dad, you don't understand, Negan isn't the governor or terminus. He doesn't have a hand full of followers, he had at least twenty to thirty with him. He smiled while beating someone's head with a bat he named Lucille. We thought that the Governor was a few screws loose? Well, Negan is missing every last screw, plus I'm pretty sure he borrowed some from other people and lost them too," Summer said.

"Daryl and I ran into a few people who was running from him, they made it sound like he was a real dictator. We offered them a chance to come back with us, but they refused. Stole Daryl's bike and bow and arrow. One of them went back so the other two could try to get away. If we could get hold of her, we could get an inside view of Negan and his men," Jes said.

"No! Leave this alone, I'm begging you. That's why I am not telling you who helped me, or where they are because that will bring us closer to Negan," Summer said.

"We don't have to talk about this right now," Jewel said. "We get back home, we get Alexandria back in running order. Not to mention you and Carl," Jewel said. "Now everyone out, Summer needs to rest," she ordered. "That means you too Joey, Rick and I will sit with her," she instructed as everyone left.

Jes stood outside the door. "We need to prepare, just in case," she whispered to Rick and Jewel.

"We don't, not right now," Jewel said. "I need to get my kids healthy. Two of them are going to be in the infirmary, we still have to rebuild Alexandria, so that's my priority right now," she said.

Daryl and Mar's POV:

Mar jumped off the motorcycle as Heath opened the gate. Morgan nodded at them. "You two are back early," Morgan said.

"We found Summer," Mar said.

"Was she dead?" Heath asked.

"No, she's alive, she's a Dixon," Daryl said. "She's injured, they are on the way back with her."

"I'm going to go tell Rosita and Denise," Mar said as she kissed Daryl. Mar walked into the infirmary and saw Mitch playing cards with Carl. "Hey how are you feeling Carl?"

"Bored," Carl answered.

"Hey, just because I'm beating you in cards doesn't mean you get to be bored," Mitch told him. "Summer?" he asked.

"She's injured but she's alive. You're going to have company in here, so you won't be to bored," Mar said. "Where is Denise?"

"Upstairs checking on other patients," Mitch said.

"You keep winning cards, I'm going to go tell her she's going to have another patient," Mar said.

"Hey!" Carl said as he laughed.

Mar walked upstairs. "Denise?" she called.

"Mar, you're back. Summer?" Rosita asked as she came out of a room.

"They are on the way back. She's injured, but alive," Mar said as she squeezed Rosita's hand.

"How injured?" Denise asked.

"Upper thigh wound, an arrow. It was looked at, but she's running a slight fever, may be an infection. They should only be about fourty minutes behind us," Mar said.

"I'll get a bed downstairs ready, next to Carl," Denise said.

"Put a chair between the beds, Jewel isn't going anywhere anytime soon," Mar said.

Rosita hugged Mar after Denise left. "She's OK," she said.

"She's OK," Mar responded.
