Hi guys. Today I bring the first chapter. In this chapter, you will see the mind and thoughts of Morgana. For me, Morgana is a special and complicated character that in the series could have been done better, and in this chapter, I'm trying to get inside the character. I hope you enjoy it.
I'm not own of Merlin.
-During the dragon attack-
Morgana had never imagined a real dragon. It is true that she more or less had an approximate image or idea of the figure of what a dragon could be: basically, a scaly reptile that spat fire through his mouth and possessed large wings. In all his life, he had never imagined his large size, his eyes like golden stones, his large bat wings, his claws like swords, his teeth like knives, and his great jaw where the fire of the same hell lay.
But this was from another world. The dragon was a truly great and terrifying creature. He had managed to destroy half the city burning it and they still didn't kill him. Morgana had heard ancient stories of when dragons populated the earth in freedom. He always thought it wouldn't be so hard to kill them. You took a sword, were careful with the fire, and cut off his head, or simply sink the iron into the scales where his heart was supposed to be. Yes, it seemed that simple. And now she saw perfectly how naive she had been thinking that.
She had seen the flames, the wounded, and, unfortunately, the dead. In the Great Hall was where all the wounded and the dead were. She had seen Arthur, with a deep wound to his shoulder; and Gwen, helping him and healing his ugly wound. She had also seen several knights, most of them wounded, and, unfortunately, the other dead. She had seen Sir Leon go with several other knights to go outside with faces of little hope to face the dragon. Morgana would never understand why they went out to fight a dragon which was impossible to defeat. He might be brave, gentlemanly, or honorable, but above all, suicidal and stupid. So you risk lives against something you can't beat. They did it for Camelot's protection, it's true, but they'd get nothing but more wounded and dead. But, in part, Morgana would rather fight them knowing that it would be useless than to be inside the castle doing nothing. It is true that she could take care of the wounded, but she would always have liked to be a knight and not a lady to protect.
While she was in the Great Hall, all the people there were, she could also see Gaius helping and healing the wounded. He was stained with blood on his hands, with cloths, bandages, medicine, and so on top of the tables around him. But something didn't fit right. Seeing Gaius was just like seeing a knight without his sword. Something was missing from him... and that was missing he realized that he was not an object, but rather a person. And that person was Merlin. Sure, Merlin. Where was he supposed to be? If it wasn't for Arthur being wounded in the Great Hall, she would have said he was with him fighting outside, as he always did. He was always glued to the prince. And he was just a servant, but he still followed Arthur everywhere. Surely if Arthur went to the other side of the world, where certain death awaited him, Merlin would follow him. To the end. To be sure, Merlin's loyalty was a mystery. It was a mystery because she didn't understand why to be so loyal to an arrogant prince. Although, in fact, he had changed during these years. Exactly when Merlin had come to Camelot.
Instead, he didn't seem to be near Arthur now. That was weird. Would he be out against the dragon? No, that was crazy, and Merlin wasn't crazy. Or is he? Merlin had always been quite thrown, and, frankly, she had always liked that about him. She remembered how he had given his life for Gwen's by showing himself as a sorcerer. But, if there is one thing that should be collected, it is that, now that Morgana thought so, Merlin had never feared magic. In fact, he had helped her with her magic and had even known where the druids were. Yes, it was something that made he really interesting and curious. She didn't know why, but she had the feeling that, even if he was just a simple servant, Merlin was much more than that. But she didn't know what to think about it. She had a feeling Merlin was hiding something.
Morgana got carried away by thoughts while, unknowingly, she had left the Great Hall and had gone down the aisles without any objective or fixed course. She just felt curious about Merlin. It was another thing she loved about him. In general, he was a great friend: he helped his friends, even gave his life for them, and listened to the problems of others. Then she also loved his awkwardness, her funny side, her laughter and her smile, her bravery (different bravery, not just like any other. Not a bravery as a knight, who had a sword and gave everything to defend his people. No, Merlin was different. He literally didn't need a sword to defend others. She didn't know how he did it, but it was true. He always went to Arthur's side on the most dangerous missions and always came back as if nothing.), and, well, just all those very Merlin features that were impossible to explain or name. It was just Merlin.
She passed through the front door and, before passing it, a tall figure of jet hair with a faded leather jacket ran in, all stained with dirt, sweat, and blood. It was Merlin. Yes, without a doubt now, Merlin had gone out to face the dragon, and, best of all, he had survived to tell it.
Merlin's figure disappeared behind a corner, down the hall to the Great Hall. Morgana decided to follow him because that's what she'd been walking around for, isn't she?
In the Great Hall, he could see the figure of the ungainly servant go unsettlingly towards Gaius. The doctor turned attention to the boy. Apparently, it was of the utmost importance, since Merlin was extremely serious, as was Gaius, who more than serious seemed restless.
Morgana could not hear what they were talking about, but she could understand that it was something referred to about the dragon. Nor did we have to be a fortune teller, Merlin had left not a minute ago from the yard. But apparently it was much more than that. That was the feeling she had that she couldn't explain.
Merlin was hiding something.
And that's it. In the series, I have always thought that Morgana suspects Merlin's secrets. I know that by the moment what I'm writing is basically what is in the series, but is important to recapitulate this. As always, you can comment and revise.
I hope you liked it.
