Hi guys. Today I bring a chapter from Guinevere's perspective. The story is just beginning. Don't despair, it will come more. Enjoy
I'm not own from Merlin.
Where the hell did that dragon come from? That was the first question that had been asked in Guinevere's mind when she got up to look out the window to see almost the whole city goes down burning. Because, how could such a creature have been in the castle all the time? No one ever commented on that dragon. She didn't even know why anyone was going to hide such a monster in the castle. Wouldn't it be easier to kill him? Gwen was mentally punished for saying that. Dragons, according to the legends and stories of the past, had lived for a long time. Even if they seemed so terrifying (this dragon had already burned half a city), they may not deserve to die. The question was: why was attacking Camelot? There would be some reason, surely. She hoped he didn't do it for sheer pleasure.
As he had been told, this dragon was the Great Dragon; the Last Dragon of its kind. That caused him pity, as he had surely lived with other dragons and then seen them dead in the Great Purge. Or weren't they related? Could they talk? Were they in a herd or alone? There were too many questions about dragons that for her had no answer.
During the dragon attack, Gwen had been helping in the Great Hall heal the wounded. Above all, and hoped it hadn't been very flashy, he had been with Arthur, who had had an ugly shoulder wound. That was a perfect excuse to be with him and talk.
Having fought the dragon several times, with no luck of victory, a kind of reunion was created in the King's Room. Gwen couldn't get in, but she could see that, in addition to Arthur and Morgana, Merlin and Gaius were coming in.
Gwen knew they were going to comment at the meeting on how to defeat the dragon. It was obvious. They weren't going to meet in the middle of an attack to decide whether to put meat or fish for dinner. But what she was curious about was what technique they were going to use to defeat a dragon whose normal weapons were not enough. A word came to mind without thinking about it: Magic. Gwen swallowed. She had never been too feared by magic, but it brought back bad memories of when, for example, she had almost been executed for allegedly using magic, or for the unjust death of her father, for collaborating with a sorcerer. That's why he didn't like Uther, but he didn't hate him. If there was one thing I'd learned, it was not hating anyone. That never brought anything good.
She waited a few more minutes until, for her fortune, they opened the door, leaving in the front row an Arthur with a serious face and, apparently, something angry. Then came Morgana, with expression also serious, and then Merlin and Gaius. Those two didn't exactly have a serious expression... it was something else. Merlin seemed a little confused, but Gaius was different... As if he was hiding something... Maybe he was just afraid of something. Now there was no doubt that they would use something that would not be due.
Gwen quickly headed to Arthur's quarters. There he opened the same Arthur as before: serious and slightly angry. Gwen tried to cheer up the prince with a smile, who gave it back to her.
"Guenivere," Arthur said as he let her through.
They both sat at the table, side by side.
"What happened?" asked Gwen with some impatience.
"We must look for something..., " said Arthur dryly, looking at the floor -... or rather someone.
"Who?" continued to ask Gwen confusedly but curiously.
There was an awkward pause until Arthur answered.
-The Last Dragon Lord.
I hoped you like it. In the next chapter, you will see some of the plot, wich it will be different from the series. And, when the story really begins, I promise that it will have more Mergana and Merthur. As always, comment and revise if you want. Thanks, and see you next time.
