It had been a few hours of tracking Alyssa down, it was a little spooky how quickly the girl could move. It was starting to get dark out now and the only thing Hamish could think of while tracking down a vampire was how things were going with the council. As they came to a house where the family had been mauled to death by their new exciting vampire fledgling Hamish took the opportunity to ignore the gore and talk to Alejandro. "So, what do you think the council will do to Vera?"
"We are chasing an undead sociopath and all you can think about is Vera?" Lilith growled at Hamish and kicked the dead body of one of Belgrave's frat boys. "Man, she almost took this guys head off."
"Don't worry, most of the people left on the council actually like Vera. Don't worry, worst case scenario they kill you, and kill her."
"Is that supposed to make me feel better somehow?"
"No, I'm just being honest."
"Guys." Lilith spoke up seeing the dead frat boys starting to get up from the ground. "I think the dead guys are turning undead." One of the boys who had been killed on the sofa started groaning, his eyes colored over a milky white, veins turning black as he started rising up from his seat. His throat had been ripped out making him gurgle. The body beside Lilith started rising up as well and one above them on a banister shook and came back to life.
"One for each of us." Hamish started taking off his shirt, throwing it on the ground as Alejandro transformed into the large jaguar beast and leaped up to the banister. "Show off." Hamish transformed into a wolf watching Lilith hold Timber back. Instead she used her demonic strength to rip the head fully off the body closest to her. Throwing it down on the ground the rest of the body continued to come after her.
"Guys we have a problem here." It took hold of her shirt, lifting her off the ground and slamming her into the nearby wall. Tundra took hold of the sofa ghoul throwing it back over the couch before leaping forward and jumping down on it. Slashing claws across it's chest she nearly dug a hole straight through him but it didn't seem to slow it down.
Alejandro seemed to be having a little more luck throwing his thrall over the rails and jumping down to crack it's back. Opening his maw he grabbed the back of the thrall's head and bit down, cracking the skull in his mouth. With the thralls back broken it was rendered paralyzed from the hips down, trying to drag itself across the floor before the jaguar dug its claws into its leg and drug it back. Flipping the body over he cracked through the ribcage ripping the heart out of it's chest and popping it between his claws. In an instant the body went limp again, just in time to help Tundra with her thrall.
Alejandro jumped the sofa and held down the second thrall letting Tundra punch a fist through its chest and destroy its heart. Again the body went limp after the heart had been destroyed. Looks like the kid was picking up quickly. Lilith pushed her own thrall back into the wall, punching her fist into his chest and grabbing hold of its heart. Lilith uttered some unknown language bursting the heart and the rest of the thrall into flames.
Hamish and Alejandro shifted back into their human forms looking down at the now bodies. "Destroy the heart, it's the only way to take the thralls down."
"Good to know." Hamish added. "Could have used that information before getting into a fight with them." Hamish looked back to Lilith. "Well, are you ready to use your all knowing demon magic to catch up with Alyssa? These bodies weren't even reanimated by the time we got here so we are getting closer."
"You do know I can't just keep snapping my fingers and bouncing us around Norwich right?"
"You won't have to." Alejandro reached into the dismembered head and ripped out an eye. "Because they will lead us right to her." He walked over to Lilith handing her the eyeball. "You can track her with this."
Lilith took the eye looking a little disgusted, "Gross." In an instance they were underground, the old tunnel systems below Norwich.
Hamish startled a bit, looking at the changed scenery."I'm never going to get used to that."
"Nice place she's got down here." Lilith scoffed looking at the old damp stone walls.
"Keep alert, we don't know the number of thralls she's got behind her."
"It's only been a few hours, how many people could she have killed in a few hours?" Hamish asked, looking a bit concerned now.
A shadow started moving their way, an armless staggering figure that told them at least they had found their missing guy from the alleyway. "Enough to cause trouble." Alejandro finally responded and turned into his jaguar form followed by Hamish transforming back into Tundra.
(Inside the temple)
"And you didn't think to tell us about this before?" One of the council members asked Vera.
"I didn't think it was the appropriate time what with hunting down the rest of Praxis and dealing with a new werewolf along with one of our disciples missing."
"Dealing with two new werewolves now Vera."
"Of which both are completely under the control of the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose. Ms. Dupree has been a loyal disciple and well..." Vera paused a moment, "I'd like to say it should be obvious about the second one."
"I don't know about you but I certainly never did anything my parents said when I was a teenager and you assume that one is going to listen to you because?"
"Then you had terrible parents." She uncrossed her legs and leaned forward in her chair, "I understand that she could pose a serious threat down the line, I considered that believe me but my judgement isn't clouded. I've thought about every outcome and how they could be an asset to the Order."
"To the Order or to you?"
Well, that wasn't an unreasonable question. As it stood the knights were not necessarily loyal to the order itself but more so her. She'd stacked the deck that way, maybe a little for self serving purposes but she had done it this way because it was the only way to get them on side. Besides their oath was to protect the order from threats inside and out. "Would you have asked Edward the same question about raising Maddox with special privileges on learning about magic without being a disciple?"
"Maddox wasn't a werewolf."
"I understand that and there are some unknowns but that doesn't change the fact that you are still deciding if you are going to allow a child to live or die for what, existing? If you want to punish someone then you can punish me because at the end of the day it was my choice to keep her."
