All Nightmare Long

Chapter 429

Author's Note: The start of this chapter is based around the picture that Rick had in his bedroom of Carl and Judith. It's almost time to start the tv episodes, minus Rick and Michonne. I really need to figure out what I'm doing with her. I like Michonne, and I don't mind her with Rick if Jewel isn't around, but she is, so yeah no Michonne and Rick. Major changes. Please review.

Month and Half after Attack:

Summer, Carl and Mika's POV:

Mika put Hope down in a bassinet on the porch. She grinned as Judith reached her from Carl's lap "Hey there Judy," she said as Summer came out on the porch using a cane. "How long do you have to use that for?"

Summer sat down in the other rocking chair. "I think Denise is being over cautious," she said as she rolled her eyes.

"She's only trying to make sure you heal correctly, the same way she is Carl," Mika said.

"And you would be able to walk without the cane if you did your exercises on a more routine basis," Carl teased.

"Oh Carl thinks he's funny, doesn't he Judy?" Summer asked. "I'm doing my exercises, , just not in front of everyone."

"She is, at night while she's reading," Mika told him. "We are sharing a room since she can't climb the stairs to the attic," she said as she sat down with her back to the stairs.

"Just not all of us do it loudly by bouncing a ball against the wall," Summer said as she grinned. She frowned as Hope started to fuss. "Oh what is that fuss about?" she asked as she bent over and picked her up.

Mika grinned picking up her pacifer. "Is this what you need, Hope? Just like Judith's,"Mika said as she put it in Hope's mouth.

Carl looked up as Judith pointed past the front stairs, as they saw Aaron coming toward the house. "Mom and dad aren't here, they are walking around the perimeter," he told the other man.

"I know, I saw them. I actually wanted to take a picture of the five of you," Aaron told them.

"Why?" Carl asked.

"Do your parents have any pictures of you all? Have any pictures ever been taken of Judith and Hope?" Aaron asked.

"We've been a little busy trying to stay alive, fighting walkers' and people," Summer pointed out.

"But you aren't now. You are just a group of siblings hanging out , enjoying each other's company. I think that would be something your parent's would want captured don't you?" Aaron questioned.

Carl and Summer exchanged glances, not sure what to say. Mika looked at them. "I think it's a good idea. I mean, before the world ended, none of us were family, we didn't know each other. We didn't know that we needed each other, but now we are family. I mean I wish I had a picture Lizzy, so I don't just have to go by memories," she told them.

Summer nodded. "You know she's right, go ahead Aaron," she said as she looked Carl.

Carl nodded. "Our first family picture," he said as Mika got in the middle of the two chairs, and Aaron taking the pictures.

Members of Alexandria POV:

Jewel stopped in front of the rebuilt wall and touched it. "The rebuilding is going faster than we expected," she said.

"Abraham's been working us from dawn to dusk," Tobin reported.

"I'd be working twenty four hours a day if the noise wouldn't attract the walkers'," Abraham reported.

"Have you replaced David with someone?" Rick questioned.

"Not officially, people have been helping out whenever they aren't doing other jobs," Abraham answered.

"I've tried to keep the construction crew off guard rotation the best I can," Jes reported. "With the extra look out posts getting up and running, we'll have to take more people. I'm going to try to wait until the wall gets completed to take from the construction crew," she said.

"We're going to have to make a food and supply run sooner than later," Glenn said.

"You'll be in charge of deciding who are on teams," Rick said.

"Heath may not like that," Glenn said.

"Then you can send him to me," Jewel said. "Summer is going to want to be part of the team when she's better," she said.

"And you're alright with that?" Glenn asked.

"I think we both know that she is going to do what she is going to want to do. She's good at what she does, and even though we would like to keep her locked in the house, we can't," Jewel said.

"But for right now, she's still recovering," Rick said. "Daryl, you and Aaron going out recruiting anytime soon?"

Daryl scoffed. "Wasn't planning on it," he responded. "We don't need to try to bring in more people, you were right."

"But that's how we build up, bringing more people in," Tobin pointed out.

"It's what we've been doing since the beginning," Quinn answered.

"Maybe Daryl's right, we should just take a break from bringing people in, until we get built back up again," Carol said.

"We don't need to decide right now, but you'll have to go back out there sometime and we'll have to find people,"Rick said.

Jes looked at Tara and Beth who were coming up from guard duty. "You two are late coming in," she said.

Tara and Beth exchanged glances. "Spenser didn't show up," Beth answered.

"And we didn't want to leave Jill alone," Tara said. "When we saw Francine pass, she volunteered to take it."

"That's the second time this week Spenser didn't show up for a shift," Jes said.

"I'll handle it," Quinn said as she started to turn.

"No, you've tried, now it's my turn," Jewel said as she went to leave.

Michonne looked at them. "I'll go with her, just so she doesn't kill him," she said as she went to catch up with her. "Hey, hold up, I'm coming with you."

"I appreciate that Michonne but I don't need help," Jewel told her.

"I didn't think you would, but we don't do things alone," Michonne reminded her. "I have no intention on interfering, I'm just here to make sure you don't cause any permanent damage to him," she said with a smirk.

"Can I just maim him a little?" Jewel asked as she pounded on the door.

"We'll see how much he ticks you off first," Michonne says.

"Well if he doesn't open this door soon, I'm going to break his arm," Jewel hissed as she pounded on the door again. "Alright, that's it," she said as she turned the knob and went in. "Spenser!" she yelled. "Fill me a pitcher of cold water, as cold as you can," she instructed the other woman as she started going upstairs.

"What are you going to do with it?" Michonne questioned.

"If Spenser is passed out, like I think he is, he's going to get a rude awakening," Jewel told her as she went and peeked in the partly opened door. She sighed as she saw an empty bottle of Whiskey by the bed. She waited until Michonne came up and handed her the pitcher.

"Are you sure about this?" Michonne questioned.

Jewel smirked. "This is going to be fun," Jewel answered as she marched into the bedroom and over to the bed and poured the water over Spencer's head. She stepped back quickly as he bolted up. "Good evening Spencer, you missed your guard shift again."

Spenser looked at her. "What the hell was that? What are you doing here?"

"I just told you," Jewel informed him as she crossed her arms. "You missed guard duty. That's twice this week," she said as she went over to his closet and took out a bag. "If you can't pull your weight, then you need to get out of Alexandria," she said.

"Excuse me?" Spenser asked as he stood up causing Michonne to take a step forward. "My sister won't let you do something like that," he said.

"I wouldn't be so sure," Michonne said.

"I get it that you are mourning, that you lost a lot in a short period of time, but that does not give you the right to miss shifts. Your mother would be disappointed in your behavior," Jewel said from his outside his closet.

"You don't get to tell me what my mother would feel," Spenser said as he went toward her ready to hit her.

Jewel lifted her hand, letting Michonne know that she had it handled. Jewel grabbed Spenser's arm and twisted it behind his back. "If you fight me, I will not hesitate to break your arm, do you understand me?" she demanded. "Answer me, Spenser."

"Yes," Spenser grunted.

"Good," Jewel answered. "I know that your mother was the type of woman who would be disappointed that you are not helping rebuild Alexandria, that you were drinking and missing guard shifts. And when you do that, you make someone else take your shift, you put people in danger because that means someone has to be taken off of something else. The only reason I am not throwing you out right now, is because I like your sister. She has lost the same amount of family as you, she is dealing with her own grief, and yet, she is showing up and doing what needs to be done. But, Spenser, I'm going to tell you, this is not going to happen again. You won't like it if it happens again," she warned him as she let go of his arm.

"You're threatening me?" Spenser asked.

Jewel and Michonne looked at each other. "No, I'm making you a promise. You wouldn't last a day out there Spenser. You don't have it in you," Jewel told him. "You're going to take the midnight guard shift, get cleaned up, get sobered up and be there. I'm up, so I'll be checking," she informed him as she walked out.
