Tundra ripped one of the undead in half spraying blood across the ground while Alejandro decapitated another thrall. With those three down Hamish reverted back to his human form looking over to Lilith who had set her's on fire. "Well, she can't have that many left right?" Alejandro sniffed the air letting out a low guttural growl. He started running off on all fours down another tunnel as Hamish sighed, "I hope this is it."
Lilith followed after him with that look on her face like she was enjoying this just way too much. Typical Lilith, she just wanted to kill something and luckily these already dead thralls were the perfect distraction from the fact that she still hated him. Alejandro raced into an opening, the walls towering higher than the tunnels and looking a little like a very old temple. Tundra came thundering in behind him looking over the lit candles and seeing Alyssa standing at an altar.
"Remember we need to take her alive guys." Lilith reminded them and she hated being the one to do so. Despite her memories of friendship with Alyssa the demon wolf would have loved nothing more than to rip her heart out and eat it.
Alyssa turned around, walking away from the altar and laughing at them, "Look at that, the Grand Magus sent her mutts and a kitty cat."
"Who are you calling mutt bloodsucker?" Lilith sassed back.
It was almost the blink of an eye that Alyssa moved up to Lilith and grabbed hold of her throat lifting her off the ground. Her eyes flashed a bright red as she held her up over her head. "Weakling, if you three are her best then I'm going to enjoy taking you all down."
Tundra came up behind Alyssa biting down on her shoulder and throwing her back against the wall. Alyssa was hardly slowed down, jumping up almost as quickly as she had gone down. Shrugging her shoulder the wound Tundra had left started sealing shut almost instantly. "Great, I hope someone has a plan." Alyssa moved quickly again, with the flash before slamming her palm into Tundra and sending the werewolf back into the wall behind him.
While she was distracted Alejandro jumped on Alyssa taking her down to the ground. His claws sinking into her skin. It hadn't taken her long to grab the jaguar's throat and stick her own claws into his neck making the large cat beast hiss.
"Dormi." Lilith cut her hand and tried to put Alyssa to sleep. For a second she went down, unconscious giving Alejandro just enough time to pull her claws from his throat and heal before she'd finished ripping it open. Of course Alyssa hadn't stayed down long, waking up moments later. "Guys, seriously. How do we stop her?" Alejandro shook off his injuries and jumped at Alyssa again. "Yeah, that didn't work last time either." Lilith sliced her hand again, "Te repello." It threw Alyssa back giving Tundra enough time to get back up.
With Alyssa down Tundra and Alejandro both moved in on her. "Dormi." Lilith tried to knock her out again temporarily. Alyssa went unconscious again, both Tundra and Alejandro grabbing hold of her so that as soon as she woke up she was restrained, sort of. Alyssa planted her feet into the ground pushing both Tundra and Alejandro across the floor with her. Ripping through her clothes Timber came up behind her grabbing her head in her hands and snapping her neck. Alyssa went down again, Timber slammed her hand down into Alyssa's back grabbing hold of her spine and ripping it out. Shifting back Lilith looked down at Alyssa, "Heal that one bitch."
She looked back to Alejandro who was already shifting back, "We need to get her restrained quickly."
"Hang on." Lilith ordered them before raising her hands. The tunnel system vanished bringing them into the vault. Alyssa was already starting to heal her wounds, the sound of her bones popping and growing back disturbing the solemn quiet of the orders vault.
Alejandro grabbed a golden rope and looped it around Alyssa making her scream in a rage. Wrapping her tighter he held her down to the ground. "That should keep her from using her abilities against us until we can get this all resolved. "Lilith, would you like to assist me in locking her up?"
"Gladly."
Hamish looked at them both, "You guys do that, I'm going to go and make sure Vera is alright."
Lilith stopped him a moment, "You might want to at least put something on first Hamish."
Once Hamish put on some black robes he went upstairs to the reliquary and then waited in the antechamber for Vera to be done with the council. He made himself a drink while he waited, feeling a little sick to his stomach. He wanted to go over to the door and spy on the conversation but he feared making the situation any worse for her. Instead Hamish worked on making her a non alcoholic cocktail. Maybe she couldn't have a proper victory drink if things worked out for them but at least they could have something together.
It felt like an eternity before the doors opened and people started heading out. A lot of them were old dudes and a few business women with cold expressions on their faces. Vera came up at the end of the group shaking a few hands, that was a good sign. One of the council members even came over and congratulated Vera. Well that is a very good sign. It felt good to not have to hide the biggest part of his life anymore, well, aside from being a werewolf to his parents and in a magical order.
Grabbing his Vera safe cocktail Hamish walked over to her and handed it off to her with a smile. "So I guess we have good news?"
"Yes and no." Vera let out a little sigh. "Considering the situation I'm going to have to elect a new temple Magus." Vera stopped Hamish for a moment. "And before you say anything, yes, as Grand Magus I still run the show here so don't start getting concerned that anything here is going to change. In fact I already have someone in mind to take it over."
Hamish smiled and kissed her on the cheek. "Well, whoever you pick Vera I'll be more than happy to work with them."
"Good, because with the council's blessing I elected you to be Temple Magus."
"Vera...I."
"You don't have to say anything Hamish other than well, yes." She paused and took a sip of her drink. "It's not like I asked you to marry me. I'm just asking you to rightfully handle things when I am not available here at the temple since eventually I'm not going to be here at the temple."
He felt a kick in the chest over the concept of Vera asking him to marry her. "Wait, why wouldn't you be here at the temple?"
"Because Hamish I don't know if you've ever had a baby before but I have and trust me the last thing I do after I get this thing out of me is want to deal with everything going on. Even I need a break sometimes."
Oh, yes, he'd almost forgotten about that part. It hadn't dawned on him how much things may change once the baby came. Their lives were never going to be the same again, nothing was ever going to be the same again. That terrified him more than it should but change could be a good thing. After all they had to change when they joined the Order. "Vera I would be happy to accept the title of Temple Magus and I promise I won't let you down."
She smiled, thankfully he'd accepted because her other option was turning to Alejandro and she wasn't feeling too comfortable electing the man who wanted her dead as her new Temple Magus. "Then I guess we have two things to celebrate." Vera raised her glass. "After we deal with Ms. Drake. Since you are here I assume you have captured her?"
"Yes Grand Magus."
"Everyone knows Hamish, I don't think you need to call me Grand Magus anymore."
"Yes….Vera." He cleared his throat. "Is Jack back with our Necromancer yet?"
"I don't know, you tell me Temple Magus." Hamish smirked at her and nodded his head. "I'll go do that then."
