Hi guys. Today I bring a new chapter from Arthur's perspective. Ther isn't so many thoughts, but here are some more things about the plot and the story that will have in the future. I don't know if this chapter is good, but I hope you like it. It has been a really difficult chapter to write, believe me.
I don´t own Merlin.
Arthur could not help thinking about how strange Merlin had behaved along the first walking journey. He hadn't spoken, smiled, or laughed all day. He hadn't even looked at him. That was weird. Something was wrong, without a doubt. Merlin didn't use to behave like that. To be honest, he longed for the old Merlin, though he would never say so.
At dinnertime, it appeared that Merlin had infected Morgana, as Morgana had begun to behave the same. Strange. After talking to Gwen, trying to talk to Merlin and Morgana, and tell epic stories about the journeys of former knights, he gave his intentions for overdue and set out to eat and shut up.
When everyone went to bed in camp, Arthur couldn't sleep. He was looking at the treetops and the starry sky as he thought about what might worry Merlin enough not to talk all day. So much so that Morgana behaved the same way, too. It could be because of the danger of going to see a Dragonlord. For fear of the unknown, since none of the four knew who he really was. Yes, it could be that. The point was that the problem and concern were certainly about the Dragonlord, otherwise, what would it be?
That intrigued the prince. Could it be something else? No, it had to be from the Dragonlord or at least referred to it.
Serious and concerned images of Merlin came to mind. Serious merlin... How strange. Worried Morgana sitting by the fire... looking at Merlin. Something was there... he felt like something was missing...
With those thoughts, he fell asleep. He slept soundly to be awakened by slight sounds, like creaking, in the woods. In the beginning, he thought of an attack, but when he saw a black figure, hooded and tall, he knew who it was. He passed on the side of Morgana, who slept whispering between nightmares. The hooded figure stood next to him, put his blanket on it, and put a hand on her forehead. Gradually, Morgana ceased to speak in her sleep and slept peacefully. He seemed to have suddenly healed her as if the palm of his hand had made her sleep peacefully and calmed her down. That was weird.
The hooded man, who Arthur knew perfectly well that it was Merlin, headed to the forest, where he gradually disappeared into the undergrowth, trees, and darkness. In one leap, Arthur got up and went to follow him. Reeling, he went through the place Merlin had crossed. He hoped he hadn't gone too slow and lost sight of him. Unfortunately, it was. He got lost in a forest in the middle of the night not knowing where to go.
Until he heard it.
He heard voices. Rather whispers, which were barely heard in the distance. He didn't know if they'd be Merlin's or someone else's...
He advanced quickly and stealthily towards the noise, careful not to draw attention and not to be discovered by Merlin or whoever was there. The whispers disappeared to let another sound hear as he approached, this time it looked like a buzz, like the one in the falling water. He advanced carefully until he saw him: Merlin, hooded, going in the distance under a tremendous curtain of water that fell from above a ravine, getting wet to get into it.
He only saw his shadow hooded by a thousandth, but still recognized him for his figure. Why would Merlin go in a cave behind a waterfall? What was in there? Maybe that's why he's been so strange lately?
Arthur was still a little far from the waterfall. He was as fast as he could to it, careful not to get lost and then remember the way back to camp.
A few minutes later, he finally arrived at the waterfall, where he set out to cross it. When he passed through the veil of water, he felt a deep pain in his nose as he hit himself with a wall of rock. He screamed high, being able to wake up half a forest with the scream, as he put his hands on his face, wiped the blood off his nose, and cursed from the ground up.
That's when he noticed a presence behind him. He turned to see a confused Merlin.
"Arthur?" asked Merlin. Arthur saw, albeit out at night, how what looked like a little smile appeared on his lips.
-Merlin! What... What? – Arthur did not know what to say. He was really confused. How is it that not a few minutes ago he had seen Merlin through the veil of water and now it turned out that there was a rock wall in the middle? Faced with that perspective, he realized that Merlin would be laughing with laughter inside for what he had just seen. He felt stupid.
"You're bleeding... what were you doing screaming? Have you been fighting the waterfall? Isn't it allowed for water to fall from a ravine?" in the face of this, Arthur saw that Merlin could no longer hold on and let out a laugh. He approached him and gave him a cloth to wipe his blood while Merlin kept laughing down.
"We'd better get back to camp before you're done with more than one bleeding nose," Merlin said, and they both went down the road back.
Arthur saw at his friend's face and saw that was something inside of him. He wasn't the same Merlin. He didn't even look like the serious and concerned Merlin from this morning. His jokes weren't the same. They were more... bitter, to say it in same way. Not so joyful as always. And there was more in that expression. Something he did not know. Pain was what it seemed. But he couldn't see it exactly.
Arthur didn't say anything in the whole way. He didn't know why, but he couldn't. At times like this, he would insult him, fight back something of what he had said him before. But, it looked like he wasn't capable. He felt stupid; Yes. He had beaten himself with the waterfall stone and then shouted like a madman. But there was something else that made him confused. Merlin was the problem. There was something that didn't fit. He had seen Merlin cross the waterfall, and when he tried, he had not succeeded. Maybe he imagined it. But he had a feeling it wasn't. Also his expression. It was... suspicious. There was something in this indeed. And before seeing the waterfall, when he was following Merlin, he had heard whispers, and he would swear they seemed like two people.
Another question caused him to head to Merlin for the first time all the way.
"Only one question, Merlin: what the hell were you doing there?"
"Night walk, you know. With so many things in mind, it's always good to enjoy the night."
And with that Arthur knew Merlin was lying.
Well, a large chapter, compared with the others. I don't know if it was good. Tell me in the comments what do you think. Also, tell me ideas of what would you want to have in the stories, I don't mean that I haven't any idea. Believe me, I have. It's only to know what would you like to see or what do you expect by the moment. And what do you think of make Merlin as a mysterious character? I mean, it will be some chapters on his perspective, but I'm testing how could it be this way. Tell me what you think.
Thank you, and see you later.
Next chapter: Merlin's perspective. ¿What did Merlin do when Arthur saw him?
