Hey Darkfogfox, this might be unexpected for some of you but this is the last chapter of the story. As always I appreciate anyone who has read my story and or commented, especially if you have stuck around for the final chapter. I'll be taking a break from LWA and focusing on some Danganronpa stuff I've working on. Thanks for reading and here's the last chapter.

XVII. Unacceptable

After Amanda found Diana again, Professor Urusla took the stage, stumbling with her words to wrap up this part of the evening. Diana smirked over Amanda's shoulder at her Aunt. Several people were very angry with her.

"Jesus, that's despicable! Your own niece!" One of the women exclaimed.

"W-wait a minute. I can explain." Aunt Daryl countered as beads of sweat rolled down her face.

"How do you sleep at night? What would your sister think about how you're treating her daughter?" An elderly woman aimed, pointing accusingly at Daryl, who gulped nervously.

"Yeah, you're the worst! What? You think I should cut off MY son completely just because he's gay?!" A man with a portly figure asked, raising his voice as Professor Finnlean approached the group.

"No! Nonono. Haha. Obviously not. This is j-just a big misunderstanding." Aunt tried to backpedal.

Professor Finnlean folded her arms over her chest and spoke.

"Honestly, I'm disappointed in you Daryl. I thought Diana's strong sense of morality and empathy came from you, but I'm afraid I was wrong, it must have skipped a generation. The headmaster and I are seriously considering refusing your recent donation to Luna Nova. We will not accept funds from someone with an obvious homophobic agenda, that goes against Luna Nova's core values! " The professor finished with ire as Aunt Daryl finally got a hold of her fear and surprise.

"No. No. There's no need f-for that, I assure you that I'm not in ANYWAY homophobic. I-I have gay friends, so that's impossible, I can't be. My niece, Diana must have misunderstood me. I'll have to have a lengthy discussion with her about this. I've never in any way tried to make Diana hide her… lifestyle." Aunt Daryl said, trying to placate the group. Andrew approached and tapped Aunt Daryl's shoulder and everyone turned to look at him.

"Then, why did you and my father decide that I'm supposed to be Diana's date to events like this? Diana didn't want to go with me, she told me herself, she wanted to take Miss Kagari." Aunt Daryl swallowed hard and turned around sheepishly to face her critics as Andrew's father decided to quietly slip towards the double doors of the ballroom.

Akko's ears perked up and with stars in her eyes she rushed over to where Diana was and stopped a few inches from her face.

"Really, Diana?! You wanted to go with me? Is that really true?" Akko asked with a huge smile spread across her face. Diana blushed ear to ear and smiled back.

"YES. I did want to go with you." Diana responded as Akko captured her in a giant bear hug, that almost spawned hearts from its embrace.

More and more people started to turn against Aunt Daryl. Soon the older woman started to put together in her head that despite of what she had previous thought, it wasn't to her advantage to be homophobic. Like a chameleon she needed to shift her appearance and perception to others in order to be liked and respected. Bottom line, being homophobic wouldn't get her very far in this social circle, despite her unchanging belief that Diana was an individual with unnatural desires.

Aunt finished her drink quickly and cleared her throat.

"Oh look at the time! It's certainly getting late and I've left… the estate lights on, silly me! I apologize for leaving so early. Diana! Before I go we need to talk, walk with me." Aunt Daryl said brisking walking to the exit, not even daring to look back to see if Diana was following.

Diana smirked and peeled Akko off of her. Before following her Aunt she rushed over to Amanda and hugged her. Amanda was surprised before she saw Diana's face.

"Thank you. I'm sorry I ever doubted you." Diana said with complete calm in her voice. Amanda was taken aback.

"So we really succeeded? I changed your evil Aunt's mind?" Amanda asked, surprised that such a thing would be so easy. She was 99% sure that there was going to be a showdown with Amanda helping Diana defeat her wicked Aunt Daryl. Diana softly laughed, which took Amanda by surprise.

"No, you didn't. She's not the type to let go of her beliefs so easily. However, you did make her see that most people don't share her homophobic beliefs. It will make her think twice about her derailing my future and that's good enough. I'll take it from here." Diana finished walking away from Amanda after her Aunt.

As Diana left Amanda took a deep breath and let out all of the tension in her muscles relax. She had done it, Diana had a good chance of staying at Luna Nova. It was oddly satisfying to help out Diana. A few weeks ago Amanda would have had a cow if she knew she would be helping Diana stay at Luna Nova.

As everyone else decided to move on with the rest of the night, murmuring and chattering among themselves, 3 familiar faces walked up to Amanda.

Kimberly and Joanna walked up as Wangari ran up to Amanda with a huge smile on her face.

"Well, color me impressed! Hell, if I told you at the beginning of this that you and Diana would be on the same side, you would have told me I was full of it." Wangari said, wearing a shit eating grin.

"Yeah, I was actually thinking the same thing." Amanda admitted. Joanna and Kimberly looked like they wanted to say something but held it in as they looked at each other. Amanda sighed when she caught a glimpse of their faces.

"Let me guess. You're happy that your clubroom will be spared from another visit from the Green Team Tornado of Disarray." Amanda guessed. Joanna spoke first.

"Well, that and we wanted to say that your final article was great." Amanda stood there even more surprised, geez what's next, Professor Finnlean awarding her the scholarship?

"She's right, you're actually a pretty competent journalist, all things considered." Kimbrely admitted, unwilling to repeat what she said ever again.

"Yeah, you're welcome to chase a story with us anytime." Wangari said, slapping her arm around Amanda's shoulders. A smile broke out on Amanda's face, maybe helping people like this was something she should do more often.

"Thanks, but I need a break from all of the danger and excitement." Amanda said her gaze resting on Jasminka and Constanze over at the snack table trying to snake a bunch of cupcakes when no one was looking.

"Sorry but I need to spend some more time with my team. They've been feeling pretty neglected with this whole thing. So I'll catch you later." Amanda replied walking over to her team, knowing that she needed a couple weeks of normal before she could even think about uncovering another story.

In her office, Professor Finnelan reviewed Wangari's report on Amanda and was speechless. Amanda sat lazily in a chair in front of the Professor's desk. Amanda tried not to yawn as Finnelan gathered her words.

"Well, Miss O'Neill, I'm impressed. Your punishment project has exceeded my expectations. On top of a glowing report, Diana told me after I reviewed her project that she is indebted to you." Professor Finnelan said happily.

Amanda grinned and crossed her legs smugly. Outside in the hallway there was the loud sound of a trumpet being played horribly.

"What on earth?" Professor Finnelan got up and marched over to the door with Amanda behind her.

Outside in the hall, a large group of students were cheering happily. Lotte was being carried on her teammates shoulders as Akko tried to play a small trumpet poorly. Everyone was cheering Lotte's name as they paraded through the halls.

Amanda laughed quietly and shook her head, she had heard the news that Lotte had been selected to represent Luna Nova in the scholarship contest and honestly she was happy. Lotte deserved it and she was confident that Diana was doing fine now.

Professor Finnelan yelled at the students that if they were going to march through the halls making a ruckus they had better be marching themselves to the fourth period. At that, most of the students broke off from the group and scappered to class.

"Hey, are we done?" Amanda asked out of curiosity, as much as she liked all of the praise, she didn't want another to be too late to her next class.

Professor Finnelan sighed and waved Amanda away as she slunk back into her office mumbling something about witches back in her day as she closed the door.

Amanda speed walked into her next class, just around the corner from the office and plopped into her seat. As boring as class was she couldn't help but thank the universe that everything was back to normal for her. All she had to worry about now was being a student and a team leader, not a secret-keeping investigator.

Amanda found it kinda funny that before all of this she had always considered herself to be in the right. A rebel always justly, fighting for people's freedom against the establishment and the hoards mindless, rule abiding sheep, but now Amanda realized that she was a rebel that never looked outside her own perspective. After finding out Diana's whole situation and working with her, she realized that Diana was in fact a good person. That she was complicated with a different situation and perspective than her, but didn't mean she was necessarily bad.

Amanda spent the rest of class twirling her pencil in between her fingers and almost dropped it in surprise when the bell rang. Before Amanda reached the door Diana was waiting there for her with a smile on her face.

"I'm guessing everything's cool now." Amanda proposed.

"Yes, my Aunt plans to let me continue my education at Luna Nova and my teammates are planning to throw me a surprise coming out party, even though they're both horrible at keeping anything a secret from me." Diana said, smiling as she said it. Amanda even snickered at the idea of Hannah and Barbara hiding balloons and party favors from Diana in the dorm room they all shared.

"Listen, Amanda. If it wasn't for your help and well… persistence. I wouldn't have been able to see the flaws in my own perspective. I now see that I can be a bit rigid when it comes to self-expression so I'll try for a while to take a page from your book and be more open about my sexuality." Diana admitted, her ears growing red. Amanda smirked.

"I'm sorry what was that? Are you saying you admire me?" Amanda proposed wiggling her eyebrows.

Diana turned away and with her ears growing redder. "You'll never hear me say that again. So don't push it."

Amanda continued to tease Diana out of the room and down the long windowed hallway, painted in a soft early sunset glow.
