All Nightmare Long

Chapter 433

Author's Note: Lexi's been bugging me about a scene with her and Abraham, and with everything coming up this is the only time I can think it may work. Jesus will be coming in the next chapter or the one after. Summer is excited about confronting Jesus. It's going to set up her major disagreement about going to take out Negan with Rick. Yay!

Lexi and Abraham's POV:

Lexi adjusted the rifle on her shoulder as she came down the steps and ran to catch up with Abraham. "Mind if I walk with you?" she questioned. "I mean we should be in pairs, not doing anything on our own," she said. "I'll keep you safe," she teased.

Abraham laughed. "I feel real safe now, pipsqueek."

Lexi grinned. "As you should," she told him. "You usually do checks with Sasha or Rosita," she pointed out.

"Rosita's taking a shift in the infirmary, Sasha is sleeping, she got late guard shift," Abraham told her. He looked down at her. "So what's going on with you short stuff?"

"Nothing new," Lexi answered. "So, you've been getting cozy with my sister, since you've been on the road," Lexi pointed out.

Abraham arched an eyebrow as they walked. "I wouldn't call it cozy, we're friends," he told her.

"But you like her, right?" Lexi questioned.

"She's family, of course I like her," he answered.

"Abraham, you know exactly what I mean," Lexi pointed out. "You are interested in Sasha, or at least you are developing feelings for her," she informed him.

Abraham arched an eyebrow. "Am I seriously getting grilled about my love life from a fifteen year old?"

"This fifteen year old is the sister of the girl you may or may not be interested in. I'd be giving anyone the third degree who was interested in Sasha. It's what sisters do," she pointed out. "I mean, you're a good guy, even if you have a very discriptive vocabulary," she told him. "I mean if Sasha and you got involved, at least you are a good guy."

"Well, I'm glad that I have your stamp of approval, shorty," Abraham said with a laugh.

"You aren't available though, not for a real relationship with her, you are still with Rosita," Lexi pointed out.

"I appreciate your concern over your sister's happiness, it's admirable, but there's nothing between Sasha and I but friendship," Abraham told her.

Lexi stopped and looked up at him. "I know you think I'm just a stupid teenager, and that I don't know anything about love and romance, and you'd be right about that second part. But I do share a house with you, Rosita and Sasha, and I know that you and Sasha have been closer since the time you spent on the road, and I don't object to anything happening between the two of you, you have to find happiness when you can in this world. But, before you get together with my sister, you need to break up with Rosita. She may not be my blood sister, but she is my sister, just like you are my brother. I guess I'm just going to shut up now, I just wanted to let you know where I stand," Lexi told him.

Abraham nodded. "I'll take your concerns under consideration, and I'm sure that Sasha will appreciate her little sister keeping an eye out for her well being," he said.

"I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate me putting my nose in her business, but I felt I must say something," Lexi said. "I'm going to go now," she told him as she started walking away.

"You know you're wrong," Abe called after her.

Lexi turned. "Wrong about what?"

"You're not a stupid teenager, you're probably smarter than a lot of us in here," Abraham told her.

Lexi grinned. "I know that, glad you know that now," she said as she walked away. She heard him laughing as she left. Lexi saw Carl going up to the steps of his house. "Carl!" she called after him.

Carl turned and looked at her. "I thought you'd be inside," he told her.

"I was just taking a lap around Alexandria, with Abraham. Why do you look like you're getting ready to go out the gates?" Lexi questioned him.

"I was going to see if you and Enid wanted to go outside the gates," Carl told her.

"You want to go outside the gates? Why? I just got Enid to stay inside the gates," Lexi told him.

"Something to do," Carl said.

"It's just the opposite of what we were told to do," Lexi told him. "Are you doing this because Rick and Jewel aren't here?"

"Are you saying you aren't interested in climbing the wall and going out?" Carl asked.

"I care about not getting caught by any body. Sasha wasn't to happy when I followed Enid out the gate last time," Lexi told him. She sighed. "You are seriously going out there one way or another right?" she asked.

"Yeah, I am, but I would like your company," Carl told her.

"And Enid's?" Lexi asked.

"Just as a friend. She's locked herself up in her room since everything's happened. You know that isn't good," Carl said..

Lexi sighed as she turned to go toward Enid's apartment. She turned back and looked at him. "Are you coming? This was your idea wasn't it?"

Carl looked at her. "I think I missed the part of where you agreed," he said as he stepped out of the porch.

"I thought me walking away to get Enid was a way of telling you I agreed," Lexi said as she started walking away. "Come on," she said. "You already knew I would say yes, didn't you? You got my jacket hanging out of your backpack," she said.

"I hoped,"Carl said.

Lexi came up on the porch as she saw Maggie leaving and Enid starting to go inside. "Enid, hold up," she called out.

Enid turned and looked at them. "What?"

"We were wondering, well Carl was wondering, if we wanted to go outside the gate," Lexi said.

"Why would we want to go outside the gate?" Enid questioned.

"I asked him the same thing," Lexi said.

"Just to get out of the gate. You are the first one to want to go outside, thought you'd jump at the chance," Carl said.

"I was, before," Enid said. "Are you going?" she asked Lexi.

"Can't let him go outside on his own," Lexi answered. "You know that he isn't going to stop until we agree to go out with him," she said. "We won't go far," she assured her.

Enid looked at the two of them. "Fine, let's go before some one sees us," she told them as she started toward the gate. "We gonna climb over or go to the front?"

"It wouldn't be any fun to go through the front gate," Carl said as he started to climb over the gate.

Lexi and Enid both looked at each other and rolled there eyes. "If Rick and Jewel get back and catch us, I'm blaming it all on you," Lexi told him.

"We aren't going to get caught," Carl said as they went over to the gate.

Enid sighed as she jumped down. "Let's go and get this done," she said.

"We're not going to go far, it's not safe," Lexi said. "We'll keep Alexandria in clear sight, right Carl?"

"Yeah we won't go far," Carl said.

Enid walked up to a piece of plastic. "Look," she said as she took the paper out of it.

"What's it say?" Carl asked.

"It got wet, it's all gone," Enid said.

"Come on," Carl told them. "It doesn't look that old," Enid said.

"It's not torn and didn't have foot prints on the plastic so it couldn't have been out here when the walkers' came through," Lexi told them.

"We can't read what they wrote, but just by doing this, they're saying something," Enid said.

"What?" both Carl and Lexi questioned

"We're not alone," Enid answered.

"We knew that, we saw it, people died,"Carl answered.

"And some people we don't want to know, there's not a lot of good people left," Lexi reminded them.

"Why are we coming out here?" Enid asked.

"Cause we're kids, it's what we do," Carl said.

"We're not kids," Enid said as she sighed.

"This looks like a good spot," Lexi said as she sat down against the log.

Carl sat down right next to her taking out a comic and handing a book to Lexi. "Sit down Enid," he said.

Enid opened up a bag on snacks and shared it with them.

Lexi started reading her book then looked up at the sounds coming out of the woods. Both her and Carl got into position ready to kill any walkers.

"It was just Michonne, Spencer and Quinn," Carl said.

"What were they doing?"Enid asked.

"Walking, I don't know," Carl answered.

"They are going further into the woods, away from Alexandria," Lexi said.

"She likes to observe people," Carl said.

"I don't want to come out here anymore," Enid said.

Lexi looked at her then at Carl. "We should be going back," she said. "We won't ask you to come out here anymore," she said as she got the bag. Lexi looked toward the sound of the walkers.

"Carl," Enid said.

"Michonne's out here, I'm not leaving it," Carl said as he whistled. The walker turned starting to come toward them.

Lexi looked at Carl and nodded as they both knew what they needed to do.

Lexi clapped her hands. "Hey this way," she called.

"Hey come on," Carl called.

"What are you doing?" Enid asked.

"Come on," both Lexi and Carl called.

"What are you doing?" Enid asked.

"Let us handle this, Enid, go back to Alexandria," Lexi said.

"She's right, just go," Carl said.

Enid looked at the two of them and took off her knife. "We should kill it," she said.

"Go home," Carl hissed at her.

"No this is bullshit, it should be dead," Enid said she started to take the walker.

Carl grabbed her arm. "Let go," Enid hissed.

Lexi sighed. "Enid go home, please," she told the other teen.

The walker grabbed Enid, Lexi whistled at it. "Hey, over here."

"What the hell is wrong with you both?" Enid questioned.

"You wouldn't understand. You don't want to be out here, you said it so go home," Carl told her.

Lexi looked at her. "We have a rule, we let family put us down, that's what we do. You go back home, we are going to lead it to family," she explained.
