Chapter One: Of Flobberworms and Friendship

There is a lot to love about Hogwarts but I love the twins the most.

I became an extension of the duo when it was revealed that I, too, had a knack for trouble. This was in our third year. Despite all of us being Gryffindors, I hadn't spent much time with the twins. I admired their jokes in our classes from afar but mostly was set on surviving Care for Magical Creatures and Herbology, my two worst classes that almost always resulted in some form of bodily harm.

It was during our lesson on flobberworms when I became the first student to be attacked by the dull, toothless worm that I caught the attention of the Weasley twins.

"Miss Harper, how did you manage to get a flobberworm attached to your hand?" asks Professor Kettleburn in utter disbelief.

"I haven't got a clue but I am deeply, deeply disturbed," I am shouting and flailing my hand to get the flobberworm off my finger.

"It has no teeth, Miss Harper! No teeth!" Professor Kettleburn is still watching in amazement, not helping whatsoever.

"Yes, I am painfully aware of that professor, I am over here being gummed to death!" my voice is stern and I am suddenly aware of the way that the whole class is taking in the spectacle.

"Well that's a bit dramatic but alright then, stay sti-"

With a final flick of my wrist, I fling the flobberworm off of my finger and it flies, seemingly in slow motion, through the air until it audibly plops on a head of red hair.

On George's red hair, to be exact.

"I AM SO SORRY," I am still shouting, this time with pure mortification dripping in my voice.

What does one do when fling a magical creature into the hair of one of their classmates? Well if you're Olivia Harper, you pull out your wand and cast a simple spell that causes the poor, likely traumatized flobberworm higher and higher in the air.

"That is simply unbelievable, Miss Harper!" shouts Professor Kettleburn as he (finally) takes control of the poor flobberworm floating in the sky.

"To be honest professor," says George, "I don't think we can deny that it was impressive that she was able to use that spell with such aim."

"Well very," Professor Kettleburn shoots me a look with a raised eyebrow before tending to the flobberworm.

I let out a laugh, grateful that a kind comment was made as there was no doubt that my encounter with the flobberworm will inevitably reach all of Gryffindor. After class was dismissed, I booked it back up to the castle. One cannot stick around after such a public embarrassment.

"Olivia!" George is shouting behind me, "wait up!"

Their long legs take seemingly two strides and they have already caught up to me.

"That was one of the most magical thing I've ever seen," Fred say

"Thanks, I gave it my best." I say with a smirk.

"'Right then, off to Transfiguration now. You coming?" I realize then that George is asking

"Yeah," I say with a smile, "let's go."

And just like that, we were friends.
